Me = Claire (33), massive Disney fan, chief planner…(a little on the OCD side ) obsessive shopper, addicted to scrapbooking and very impulsive which doesn’t bode well for our credit cards!

Hubby = Lee (34), not a massive Disney fan but still enjoys it, adrenaline junkie, easy going and the sensible half of our partnership!

3rd December 2008.

Well as is always the case we were wide awake at 4am!! Now I should add that somewhere over the past 48 hours since leaving home we had decided that we wanted to treat ourselves to a new camcorder. Lee picked up a magazine (at Gatwick) which reviewed lots of HDR one’s. We had decided which one we liked but wanted to look into it thoroughly on the internet before seeing if we could pick one up locally (price depending.) So as we were wide awake we got ready & picked up a Starbucks from the coffee shop in the hotel & sat in the hotel lobby searching the internet on our laptop. Luckily the one we had choose had great reviews so after lots of price checking we ordered it from Amazon.com with next day delivery. :thumbsup2

Some pics of the hotel decorations:

We dropped the laptop back off in the room and walked over to Universal Studios for 9am, it was such a lovely day with a beautiful blue sky. We took a few pics on the way in to the park:

I loved the decorations on top of the street lights around the park:

We headed straight over to the Simpsons Ride as we had both really been looking forward to this, there was no wait time what so ever. What a great ride it definitely didn’t disappoint! We came off and decided to go straight back on as there was still no queue. :thumbsup2

I was not feeling too great but just thought it was a mixture of excitement and tiredness catching up on me from the day before. Anyway we carried on walking and could hear the Blues Brothers were performing so we walked over and watched them…..they always make me laugh. I didn’t really feel up to going on The Mummy and Lee didn’t want to go on his own so we grabbed a bottle of water & a Churro each (I love these things!) and sat on a bench for a while. We walked through the arcade and were sad to discover that lots of the arcade games had been removed. When we were last there in 2006 we discovered a love for the basketball hoop game and we got really competitive but they were no longer there.

They had lots of Christmas decorations and a big tree in the corner up past the Mummy ride, so we headed up there to take some photos.

We took a picture of ourselves in the reflection of one of the huge baubles on the tree:

The only other decorations around the park was a few of the Macys parade balloons that were spread about all around the park ready for the parade which started later in the week.

We were hungry by now as we had not eaten anything other than a Churro and decided to head out to either Citywalk or IOA to get some lunch. We walked across past the Hard Rock Café and carried on going so we ended up at the entrance to IOA.

A lovely view back across the water to our hotel:

We decided to have a quick bite to eat now and a bigger meal later so opted for a burger at the nearest place which happened to be Captain America’s diner. We both had a cheeseburger, fries & coke. I was hoping the food would make me feel a little better but if anything I was feeling worse.

Cont'd......

We continued to walk around and I found the water canons were you can soak people on Popeye & Blutos Rat Barges…..I have never noticed these before but had read about them on the DIS, I had so much fun soaking everyone. :rotfl:

We carried on walking around and took some pics of the area they are developing for Harry Potter:

I was feeling really light headed so we decided to go back to the hotel for a rest, we took pics of the Christmas decorations in Seuss Landing on our way out of the park.

Once we had walked back to the hotel we sat down by the pool but it was a very hot day and after 15 minutes I thought it would be better for me to have a lie down in the cool room.

Some pics of the pool area:

I loved this cool dude on the fountain: :cool2:

I rested in bed for about an hour and Lee watched TV & read his book. I was feeling a little better and popped on the internet to say hi to everyone on the DIS. Then we showered & changed and walked over to CityWalk to get some dinner. We chose the Nascar Café (we have never had a bad meal here) and tonight was no different. :thumbsup2 I had the BBQ ribs & fries with coke. Lee had a 10oz Rib eye steak with mash & broccoli & a Budweiser. Total $57 + tip.

Afterwards we had a look around the shops and Lee bought me 2 Fossil watches, one for now & one for Christmas. :goodvibes: We got back to the hotel about 9pm and as we didn’t have room for a dessert earlier we decided to share an ice cream from Emack & Bolios. We got a Banana Split, which included three scoops of ice cream, you could choose from all the flavours they do so we chose one scoop of strawberry, one pistachio & one chocolate peanut butter! It was huge and between us we barely ate half!!!

We watched tv for a while before falling asleep about 10pm!

My apologies for the photo overload! We took a few thousand photos! ::yes::

Coming up on Day 4…..Seaworld!

Great day, shame you didn't feel well though, hope you soon felt better :goodvibes Love all the photos

Thanks so much for posting, I am very much enjoying your reports and looking forward to the next one. I especially loved your photos as they remind me of my own holiday.

The lads and the hubbie always spend time squirting people at the Dudley Do Rights bridge. It is the highlight of the holiday :rotfl: , I usually spend time trying to catch them smiling at each other when they get someone. I couldn't believe people where going on these rides on our first visit as it felt cold without getting soaked from the rides. We saw one lad get off and he was shivering.

I was sorry to see you are becoming poorly in this report, we all had a bad virus over our holidays too, I think a lot of people had what we had.

Really enjoying the report and photos. We haven't been to US since 2004 and never to IOA! By the time we go next the Harry Potter stuff will be open.

I enjoyed soaking everyone way too much! :lmao:

I afraid to say we didn't make it on any water rides or swimming pools during the trip due to illness. I think the last thing we need was to catch a chill too.

I read that you were ill too....I think a lot of it has been doing the rounds.
