We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge and have dinner reservations our first night at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. What are our transportation options? Is there a boat we can take or do we have to take the the bus, and how long will it take to get there for us?

Thanks!

We stayed at the WL in March 2010. We had reservations at the Contemporary which we were able to take a boat to. If you do that, you could hop on the monorail and head over to the Floridian. One word of caution, if you take the boat after 3:00 PM, it makes a stop at the campgrounds so allow extra time. We didn't realize this and were almost late for our ressie.

We would be going after 3:00! Thanks for that tip! So in the case of a 6:00 ressie, would it be quicker to take the bus vs the boat and monorail with stops at the campgrounds? Is there a direct bus from the WL to the GF?

Sorry, I'm clueless when it comes to navigating at WDW, this will be our first trip, we are used to DL where everything is walkable:)

There is no direct bus service between the resorts. The boat/monorail is definitely your best bet. Allow about 30 minutes for the boat, 10 for the monorail and a few more just because. I would leave about 50 minutes before I wanted to arrive.

A cab can get you there in maybe 10 minutes, for maybe $12. It's not far.

I took a cab from the WL to the GF in Dec and the cost was 9.00 including the tip. I think that the fare was 6.05 and I gave 3.00for the tip. It took about 15 minutes. Well worth it my opinion.

There is a direct bus from the WL to the GF. Take either the DTD or the AK bus.

Bus is best. You'll be there in less than ten minutes.
Getting back, take either the MR or boat to MK and then the bus to the WL. It's less than a five minute bus ride.

Be sure to ask the driver if the bus is going to the GF. Occasionally buses will truncate or run a modified route. Most often is when a bus fills up, but there can be other times as well.

There's also a boat from MK....you could go there, then grab the boat. It's quite a nice relaxing ride to go that way, rather than on monorail....

We had the same situation a couple of years ago - you can take a boat to MK and then take another boat from MK to GF

How are you at swimming ;-). Lots of good answers already. We usually take the boat to MK or Contemporary (whichever boat comes first and is less crowed) then monorail. Have fun!!

Problem with boats: there may not be space available on the first, second or subsequent boats. Happened to us several times.

Problem with buses: Even if a bus DOES go directly from WL to GF, you may be waiting for that bus a while.

It seems the shortest distances cause the most problems at WDW. Taxis are quick. It's just a couple of miles and the cost $9 or so each way. Even better, take your rental car.

If you do plan to brave the buses or boats start an hour before your ressies.
