Getting from Resort to Resort Restaurant

I had planned to only get PSs at places we were going to be at or very near -MK, AK, DS, MGM, CR (our hotel), any resort on the MK monorail and additionally the Hoop Dee Doo. My thought was that I didn't want to spend too much time resort hopping. I'm rethinking that after seeing some of these awesome sounding restaurants at some of the other resorts. How do we get to them and how much time would it take?

Example: Going from CR to Boma @ AKL. Do we take the MK Monorail to the terminal and then take a bus to AKL? Do we take a bus from CR to AK and then a bus to AKL? OR is there a bus that takes us directly from CR to AKL?

Is it worth the time it would take to eat at the other resorts? There will be 15 of us including 8 kids ranging from 14 mos to 15 yrs. We are already planning on the following: CRT (cross your fingers!), Ahkersus, CA Grill(Adult only night!), Chef Mickey's, Prime Time, Ohana's and Hoop Dee Doo. We may also hit CP and LTT because we will spend a lot of time in MK.

Thoughts?

We stayed at CR in November. We found that if you wanted to stay in the MK area it was a golden location but if you wanted to get anywhere else you had to plan it well. When we wanted to get to other resorts we'd go to MK or Epcot and take the bus to that resort. Unless we wanted to go to the boardwalk area, then we would take the monorail to Epcot and walk through the parks to those Resorts. We realized quickly that if we needed to get around, taking the bus leaving from CR was always the longest wait(and it goes only to DTD and the parks). We had to take a cab once or twice to make our PS's when we relied upon the resort bus.

Thanks for the input! It looked kind of involved to me too. Usually our vacations are all about the food, but not WDW! WDW is about fun and magic. :wizard:

Unless you really have an hour to devote to travel time I'd rethink some of the PS's maybe just rearrange your schedule to fit things into where they are closer? If you want to eat at AKL then do that on an AK Day taking the bus to the AKL from AK, BW or BC just plan those around MGM or Epcot days--this will cut down on the stress involved in getting from one place to another, unless you are planning on using your own car. I ahve found the only thng convienient about a monorail hotel is getting to and from MK and other monorail resorts. Anything requiring a bus has been a hassle since they stopped devoting a bus to each resort.

Although, the resort ones sound good, you are really in a prime location for most of the best. For a group of 15, I don't think I'd worry about AKL, BIG difference of opinion, I know, but there are 4 of us and none of cared for Jiko and Boma. According to DH, AND myself, 1900 Park Fair is the best character meal, food wise. In fact he keeps saying he wants to "rent" a little girl for November so we can eat there!!!

We also really love Grand Floridian Cafe (chocolate fondue dessert is delicious), Plaza Restaurant at MK, and Artist Point at WL is one of our favorites. We've never eaten at Whispering Canyons, but have heard allot of good things about it. You can easily get to all of those by either mono-rail or boat.

In the restaurants you've mentioned, you've hit most of our favorites that you've already planned and it doesnt' look like you'll be wasting much travel time to any of them. I'd really keep it that way. I'd rather spend the extra time in the nice pool at the CR, or letting the kids "blow of steam" in the big gameroom. It's going to be hard "moving around" with that many people and I'd keep it simple and happy!!!

Oh, and yes, you'd have to go to some park or the TTC and then get busses to the resort you want to go to. I would plan at least 1 hour and probably 1 1/2 hours. We always have a car, and therefore drive.
