How long does this take. We want to see the parade at MK at 2:00 pm on December 22, and then I was thinking of trying to go over to Epcot for the 5:00 presentation of the CP. Then we want to see the night time programs at MK beginning at 8:00.

Is this possible? How long is it between parks?
Thanks!

The monorail trip from the MK to EPCOT isn't longer than 5 minutes or so.

Watch the parade at the MK from the end of Main Street nearest the exit. Once it has finished, head for the monorail. Remember, you will have to change monorails at the TTC to get to EPCOT.

The largest amount of time will probably be used at EPCOT. By the time you go through bag check, enter the turnstiles, and walk all the way back to the World Showcase for the CP, you will probably have used more time doing this than the monorail ride will take.

The monorail ride itself MAY be only 5 minutes, although I think it is probably closer to 10. The most time will be spent walking from the park to the monorail station, standing in line (maybe you get on the next train if not too many people in line), walking from the monorail station into the park, and so on.

If you are in the back of the park, for example, it could take you 15 or 20 minutes just to get to the monorail station.

I would leave at least 30 minutes, maybe more to get to where you are going

I am hoping to avoid bag check by having DH carry our money and tickets in his wallet and carrying a disposible camera in his shirt pocket. Then we are going to set a rule of not buying anyting (but pins which is slip in a pocket too).

The bag check thing does hold you up some, but if you don't have a bag you can bypass that line, right? At least that was how it was in September when we were there.

Also, unless they are moving the parade time for the Christmas Season, the afternoon parade at MK is at 3:00 pm.

According to this calendar on the Disney website it says it is at 2:00, so I was going by that. Hopefully it isn't a typo or anything.

We may not attempt this, it does sound messy. There are just too many things to do! And we don't have enough time to do them! I wish DH could get off the week before Christmas, but he works at a university and they don't finish until the Friday before Christmas.

Oh well, we will do our best. We have 1 full day and 1 partial day (until afternoon at least) to enjoy the holiday season at WDW. We want to be home before Christmas day.

It generally takes us abt 30 minutes from MK to Epcot. Don't forget, you have to change monorails at the TTC.

I have to agree. I think 30 minutes is just about the best time you can make the trip. It not only requires a change of monorails, you have to walk down the ramp and up the ramp on the other side to get to the next monorail - and they are hardly ever just waiting for you when you get there.

Actually, if you are going from MK to Epcot and take the Express Monorail at the MK, you can get from one train to another without going down the ramp and back up at the TTC.

However, if you take the Resort Monorail, then you have to go down the ramp around and back up.

Is there an express Monorail you can take from EPCOT to MK? And if so where do you get off the Monorail? At TTC or inside MK?

No there is only one monorail from TTC to Epcot and back.

There are two monorail loops around 7 seas lagoon near MK.

One loop is an express loop which stops only at MK and TTC (parking area)

The other loop stops at MK, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, TTC, and Contemporary.

One thing to note --- unlike the magic kingdom, there is no entry point into Epcot without going through the bag check line.

I have complained about this various times, as the lines for bag check can get quite long sometimes... especially near illuminations time or the start of the day.

enjoy

If World Showcase is your destination it can be quicker to take the bus from MK to the Beach Club. It's only a 5-10 minute walk from the BC to the International Gateway entrance to World Showcase. From there, you only need to walk about a quarter of the way around the water to get to the theatre.

Hey! Great tip! And I should have thought of that since Beach Club is our home resort for DVC (although we are staying at Pop Century this time--out of points for the year).

Thanks so much for the suggestion!
