Getting from John Wayne airport late at night....

Our flight doesn't get in until 10:30pm to the John Wayne Airport. Are there shuttles that pick you up and take you to the DisneyLand Properties that late at night? I would hate to be stranded at the airport?

And does anyone know if the DLR have heated pools? We are going to DL over Halloween weekend and if the pools are freezing, we can skip packing swimsuits.

Thank you!!!

I'm not exactly sure what shuttles are available that late at night. But you can always take a cab. I don't know about the pools, but the times I stayed at the DL hotel, and Paradise Pier, their hot tubs were lukewarm. It sucked! But we just got back from the Grand Cal and my mom said the hot tub was heavenly! :goodvibes I went swimming during the day and it was perfect. Have fun on your trip.

The pools are heated (but the outside air isn't...and getting out always seems to be the worst part.)

Last week the DLH pool seemed a tad chilly, but maybe that's because I was standing in one place catching a little one who likes to jump into your arms over and over and over again. Probably would have been fine for actual swimming. (Of course, it was 85 degrees out.)

The hot tub was really more of a warm tub. Maybe they up the temp in the cooler months?

Maybe I did it wrong but my 3 person group took a cab from John Wayne airport to the Tropicana (right across the street from DL) and it was a $36 ride plus tip for a 20 minute ride. I dropped $40 total. The shuttle services charge by the person, $15 per head I think, for the same ride and your crammed in with a bunch of other people most times. If your group is bigger than 2 people the math and niceness factor says take the cab. Plus you should be able to get a cab 24/7 pretty much...

But I could be wrong on this... anyone doing it better? :thumbsup2

Supershuttle is your best bet. It runs 24/7. I stayed at pph in late May and had a 6am flight out of SNA. Supershuttle was there exactly when they said they would be to pick us up. Of course there will probably be several stops before you get to your hotel as they put as many people as they can on a shuttle, but everyone is going to the same general area. I forget the price but it was not very much and it's really convenient.

Took a taxi from SNA to BWPPI last week. It was $37 plus tip. It was just me so kind of expensive for a single person. If you have two or three it is more cost effective. Plus you do not have to wait for the shuttle. And you get delivered straight to your hotel rather that a series of dropoffs at various hotels.

Thank you for all the suggestions. It will be me and my 3 children, so the Cab would be economical, and also the shuttle. Thank you for providing the coupon for the shuttle service.

We are planning on staying at the DHL, will they hold our reservation for that late at night?

Just a warning....as long as your flight is ON TIME, Supershuttle is great about punctuality. However, last year DH and I flew into Ontario and had a Supershuttle reservation. As soon as I knew our flight was running late, I called to let them know. Anyway, the flight ended up being even later and we didn't get in until midnight. Our shuttle was nowhere to be found. We called and were told that there were no vans in our area, and it would be a minimum of 45 minutes to get one there. Late at night, there just aren't as many vans in service. Due to the late hour, we didn't want to risk being totally stranded, so we went with another company's shuttle that was already there. Supershuttle didn't make it easy to get our money refunded, since it was a prepaid reservation.

You mean DLH? You're pre-paid (at least for the first night), right? I'm sure they will so long as you check in sometime the first night. Sometimes hotels (non-Disney) will cancel your reservation if you don't show up the first night, but there shouldn't be any problem so long as you get there before morning. I'm scheduled for a trip to the DLH in November. I looked at my confirmation (room only, first night pre-paid) and it doesn't say anything about cancelling the reservation if you don't show up by a certain time. You could take a copy of your confirmation with you for peace of mind, but I'm sure it will be fine. If you're losing sleep over it, call the hotel directly and get confirmation.

It never hurts to call the hotel and let them know you'll be arriving late. They shouldn't give away your room, but it doesn't hurt.

Well the nice thing about a 10:30 PM flight at John Wayne.. your airline will try everything in it's power to get you there on time. At 11 PM John Wayne does an imitation of Cinderalla's Pumpkin... and ceases being an active airport. The airport is closed to incoming and outgoing flights from 11 pm to 7 am. The airlines know this and don't want to have to deal with you being taken to the wrong airport (They bus you to SNA then) and getting that big plane back to John Wayne the next day.
