Getting from BWV to Boma - WWYD?

Hi all,

Planning on a Boma breakfast (our fave!) for an upcoming trip. We are staying at Boardwalk. Trying to figure out which scenario makes the most sense. We will not have a rental car.

Options:
1. Walk to Epcot or HS and take a bus directly to AKL.
2. Start at BWV and take a bus to AK and then hop another bus to AKL.

I know a taxi would be quickest and less of a hassle, but if I can use Disney transportation that would be ideal. I'm just wondering if my luck is better starting at a park (such as EP or HS) or getting as close to AKL as possible by heading to Animal Kingdom first. Anyone have experience doing this or something similar?

We are planning on a 9:30 breakfast, so if we leave at 8am all parks should have transportation running at that point.

TIA!

#2 is not a good choice in the morning. Although it's counter-intuitive, the bus transportation in the morning is oriented toward getting the guests *to* the parks, not from the parks. As a result, the buses will often not pick up when stopping at the parks. (It's not my idea, I'm just the messenger. And in years past, the victim.)
I'd consider Uber as a possibility - often quite a bit less expensive than taxis, and they do a lot of servicing around WDW, so you can probably get one quickly.

ETA - now that I read more closely, option #1 suffers from the same problem as #2. Disney transportation from parks to resorts in the morning is not an option one can count on.

Unless Epcot has EMH it won't be an option because you would have to walk through the park to get to the buses. It would also require valid park admission.

Between transferring at DHS and AK, it's basically a toss-up. Keep in mind that getting a bus from a park to a resort could take longer than usual that time of morning - you're basically swimming up stream.

I would probably pay the $20 for a cab and save myself an hour.

... and a lot of aggravation.

This. Getting back from a theme park to a resort shortly after open is far from ideal. We have found buses tend to drop off wherever, and then simply leave. My DW joined me for the good morning show one day and then went back to the hotel. I think she said it took her well over an hour before she was able to get back, and even that only happened because a transportation CM saw her waiting and arranged for a bus to do pickup. Unless you are trying to get to a monorail loop resort for breakfast I would strongly suggest looking into a cab or car service such as Uber.

We've always taken the bus from our resort to AK and then to AKL.
Never been a problem and never told we can't.
They are leaving with an empty bus to go back anyway.

What about taking the bus to DTD and transferring over to AKL. Buses go to DTD regularly in the morning as well. Just an idea. Ride from BWV to DTD is short.

It's not that you can't, it's just that it can be time consuming because this:

isn't necessarily true.

A single bus doesn't just travel back and forth from point a to point b all day. It may pick up at AKL, drop off at AK, and then be dispatched to Pop. The buses don't necessarily drop off in the loading zones - they often have to make a special trip if people are waiting, which isn't always possible right away.

OP here - we have done this as well, which is why I originally posed the question. I didn't know if it made more sense to start at a park or start at our resort. Either way, I know it will take awhile to get there, which is why I have at least a 1.5 hour cushion. I guess I will make the call that morning!

Thanks all!

One year, I stayed my first night at ASSp because I got in very late. I needed to check in the next morning at POR to activate my free dining before we headed to the park for a meal. I jumped on an Epcot bus and got dropped off right next to the POR stop, which had a WAITING bus going to POR. There was no one on it, and the driver was a little confused why I wanted to head back to the hotel that early, but he took me without any problem. I didn't even think it would have been an issue to do it this way. It took me about an hour to get from ASSp to Epcot, to POR, check-in, and back to Epcot. All without even making rope drop.

I'd take a taxi.....that's the only way my family is doing "resort to resort" ADRs anymore.

For me there comes a time when time is more valuable than money; yours is one of those cases. I would just go ahead and pay the cost to take a cab over to the AK for your breakfast at Boma. A breakfast ADR at Boma is a difficult one to get too using Disney transportation without it being a major task, effort and valuable time. :goodvibes

This is very true. I guess I will have to decide if Boma is worth all the trouble... I think it might be! :thumbsup2

We always plan Boma at 4:30p on our AKL day. Getting there from the park isn't as bad as getting BACK to the hotel. We stay at BCV and I like the opportunity to walk off my Boma dinner by taking a bus to Epcot and walking through to the hotel. If you're going when it's really hot and crowded, a taxi back might be the way to go.

I actually cancelled a 5:30pm ADR at Boma in September because I am not sure I am going to want to deal with the hassle of getting from BWI to AKL after a day at the parks.

I guess I have been very lucky......done it at least 10 times

I understand wanting to use Disney transportation as much as possible, I really do... but I have to agree that resort to resort, taxi is the quickest and easiest option. And even if you did it say, 3 times on your trip, it's not going to run you that much $$. Totally worth it :)
