Getting from AKL to POR

Hi,

After our AKL day, we want to go to AKL, mostly for fun, to see the resort and to have a quick bite at Mara, the CS.

I'm anticipating it'll be around 9 PM by the time we are done. How would we get back to our resort? We are staying at POR.

The travel wizard suggests Bus to HS; then bus to POR.

I'm also thinking that we could bus to DTD, then boat to POR.

What would be the best way?

best way is DTD bus and then bus to POR. The bus is faster than the boat. If you take the boat you will first have to wait for the DTD bus to come ride over to DTD then walk over to the boat launch area then wait for a boat to come.

If DHS is still open, that would be a better/faster transfer point as DTD is further from AKL and a bit past POR. Also, DTD buses are notorius for slow/less frequest service.

Of course, the fastest way to get from AKL to POR would be to take a taxi.

I do it all the time; I usually end my day at a resort and stay at POR.

Fastest is definitely bus to DTD and then boat to POR. After 4 pm, until 11:00 pm, the boats run every 10 minutes. I have never waited more then 15 minutes for a DTD bus at any resort, and I have never waited more than 5 minutes for a water taxi.

That is the advantage of staying at POR/POFQ/SSR/THV.

GOING TO AKL FROM PO

go to the bust stop, take the 1st aviable bus to ANY theme park.......get off the bus, find the sign for AKL and ride the bus to AKL.

i would not wait for a DTD bus. these are the most infrequent busses. and the boat service from DTD to PO is quite slow as well.

The problem though is that the OP plans on leaving AKL at 9:00 and unless she's going in the summer, it's unlikely that any park will be open at 9:00 other than MK, and that's really going out of the way to get from AKL to POR.

Don't buses from Epcot to Port Orleans go out the back way (east)? This is a very short run to Bonnett Creek Rd & PO compared with west to World Drive, then south to Buena Vista, then east past Hollywood Studios to Bonnett Creek Rd. (not the Windham hotel), then north to PO?

So you can take any bus out of Animal Kingdom Lodge except Magic Kingdom and then transfer to a PO bus.
