My family and I want to make a reservation for breakfast at the Poly for early September (since we love Kona's gluten free macadamia nut pancakes!), but will be coming from AKL. I'm guessing I will need to take the bus from AKL to MK and then get on the monorail. This will be our first time staying at AKL and was wondering if it will be possible to get to Kona for a 8:30am reservation?? I'm not too familiar with the exact times when buses start up since we try to leave after the big rush to get to the parks. Thanks!!

Yes, you will want to take the bus to MK and then you can either take the resort monorail (it's the third stop) , or you can take the boat (it's the second stop). Be sure to allow plenty of travel time. :)

I would probably just take a cab. It will be $15-20 at most, and worth the lack of stress...

Bus to TTC, it's a quick walk to Poly. Easy!

There are no buses from Disney resorts to the TTC. The OP would have to bus to MK and take the monorail to Poly. But I agree with PP, taking a cab (especially for breakfasts) is just easier and lets you get a little more sleep.

I don't think the cab will work for us since I will have a 2 year old. I'm not sure if it's even legal but I wouldn't feel right not having him use a car seat. We won't have a car seat with us either since we will be using the Disney ME and the park buses ect. I'm ok with using the bus / monorail to get there but I'm not exactly sure when the buses even start? I only found information that said 60-90 minutes before the parks open which would either be 7:30am or 8:00am. Pretty big difference! If it's 8:00am then I will be trying to fit on the first bus with only 30 minutes to get to the resort... will that leave us enough time?

You can request a cab with a car seat. This is what we are going to do to get to Cape May.

Buses start around 6:30 a.m. But the ones in the morning typically have about 20-30 minutes between buses. So if you're going to go the bus route, give yourself plenty of time.

You really don't need a cab. There will be a steady stream of buses headed to MK that morning. Once you get off the bus just proceed to the resort monorail or the GF/Poly boat launch. :)
