getting fit for your trip - a place to share & ramble

Well done Duffysfriend and Mindy!

I have had no motivation these past 3 days,I suppose I an blame it on my horrible head cold but its not the best excuse. Tomorrow I plan on eating oats for breakfast, soup for lunch and not sure for dinner. Let's see how we go.

Hey ya
Weighed myself this morning, 69.9 kg, the magic number I was after before we went away, so lost 1.3 kg while away..yah

Back to the gym tomorrow..booooooooo.....here we go again.....

Less than 4 months til Disneyland......let the countdown begin again:clown:

Wow! I wish that would happen to me on holidays! So, you won't need to be back on the soup then!!!:thumbsup2

I haven't been game to come near this thread as I have actually put on around 3 kilos and am now the heaviest I have been in the past 3 years:sad:
I am between a rock and a hard place really. The medication I take enables me to walk, but I stack on the weight due to the nature of the substance. I laso watch what I eat and am very careful because eaing junk would just make it worse. It really is the pits:worried:

So, as there as nothing I can do about the situation, I will go away heavier, but with a smile and worry about it all when I get back:)

I went back to the gym yesterday after more than 4 weeks :( I'm still 67kg. Working as a supply teacher can have its merits but it also plays havoc with my going to the gym. Oh well. At least I still have until end of November '13 to lose my 10kg. And I don't really want to resort to a soup and vegie Subway diet :confused3

I joined a gym this week and went today for the first time, and LOVED it, I couldn't believe how good I felt after! Admittedly, I am way too scared to go anywhere near the machines but did a step class and it was awesome. And I am normally allergic to exercise lol. I'm hoping I'll get the confidence to ask someone to show me some of the machines in a few weeks as I get used to the whole gym thing, classes are so easy to stay anonymous in. Was so glad to see it wasn't *all* super sleek people who knew what they were doing (though admittedly they were still the majority, lol)!

Am also a long-term WWer, I use the online tracker just to help keep me honest. Except for the times when I don't ha ha. We had a fiji trip about a month ago and I ate till the cows come home and have had a great deal of difficulty giving up that habit now! Still, my visit to the gym today made me log back in and start again. Oops, I did still manage to eat 40 points today but the motivation is still there to do better (honest ;) ), and I know it has not been the past few weeks. With the recent weight gain (thanks Fiji) my overall loss since I started with WW is 6kg and I would like to lose a few more to be back to where I was, which I think was a comfortable weight for me. I don't want to be "too" slim I don't think (wouldn't know myself and that would be weird ;) ), if I lost another 4kg I would be at the lowest I've been in many years and would play it by ear after that to see what I think looks right on me. I really find the tracker does help me, both to lose and also to maintain the loss, it helps me see where I go wrong (thinking that if something is a healthy food, I can eat ridiculous amounts of it without consequence for example lol).

kyl, if you are around, I would love to hear about your sleeve op. My mum is about to undergo this surgery in NZ and I am a bit worried about it tbh because it's so irreversible, and because I know her issue isn't so much food quantities so much as the kind of food she eats, she and my dad enjoy the good life when it comes to food. I support her in going for it, I just have these background worries. They live in the US six months of each year, eating out a lot etc. My dad is very overweight, I guess my mum is too but it's more my dad's likes that dictates their diet to a large extent. (I don't mean he's a dictator in the marriage but more that he likes good food [really I mean bad here ;) - butter slathered on everything for eg, soft drinks as their staple fluid], and my mum is more than happy to have that same diet. And, she is the cook.) So what happens when my mum has the op, and then finds her way of eating changes drastically, and my dad still wants his usual diet? I worry she may find she has lost something she enjoys in life very much and she will spend the rest of her days seeing her husband continue to eat the way she used to enjoy - but I don't know, maybe after the op it doesn't bother you? There is talk that if it was a very successful op for her, my dad might choose to do it too but I'm just not sure I see him ever going through with it and giving up that part of his lifestyle.

Anyway, that was probably waaaaaaaaay too much background but just wanted to get your take on it and how you are feeling since having had it done. How does it compare to the band out of curiosity, in terms of how you feel? (Band is what my mum was originally looking at but the sleeve was recommended because she spends so much time overseas and wouldn't be able to have the adjustments you apparently need). If you do see this, and are able to respond but would prefer to do so privately, feel free to PM me kyl :) Thanks!

I love Body Balance but I also feel better working out with the older ladies in Light and Low :thumbsup2

Back to grade 1 today. Vegemite roll, 4 mini home baked banana and choc muffins and a little pack of BBQ shapes for the day, plus 2 pieces of peanut butter toast for breakfast. Had a meatball sub with salad for dinner last night. Tonight, it's chicken kiev and vegies since DH is coming home.

ok ladies, grab your lycra, dig out your leg warmers..its party time:cheer2:

spring has sprung and we need to ramp this up....pirate:

so today i officially nominate alicia as head cheerleader and stick poker:upsidedow

my work here is done.....now off to fat friday morning tea:upsidedow

lol - karen -- lycra has been a no-no since the 80s, which is about the last time i looked good in it :)

seriously, i agree. i need to find the motivation again. i have big goals for this next year/pre trip and i need to reach them!!!

started riding my bike the other day, went too hard, too fast as usual, pulled a hamstring and have been off it for the last 3 days :( i have been really good with my diet though. lots of lean proteins, crispbread with avocado and cottage cheese and a slice of tomato for lunch, 10 grapes as a snack in the mornings, 1 cup of cereal for breakfast, and then veges with a small serve of carb & protein for dinner. i've noticed some flattening of my tummy, but nowhere near enough cms lost to put me on track.

i have a friend who is starting Tony Ferguson on Monday morning, and as we will be working together, I think having that support will be very handy.

so ladies (and gents, if you are around), let's kick it into high gear come monday morning. lets eat right, eat smart, eat clean, and ditch the excuses. as some of the greatest personal trainers tell us - lets JFDI.

started the day well, egg wrap..then things went a tad pear shaped....
2x english muffins, tin spag, 4 mini pies, 1 lamington, 2 biscuits....and its not even 4 pm.....
oh dear....:upsidedow

Well, just before leaving for school DD said she couldn't find her sandwich so I handed over my vegemite roll and I ordered a ham and tomato sandwich from the tuckshop. During playground duty I ate that (but not the last of my crust as I just don't do that) then at big lunch I had my banana muffins. Left the shapes behind as I wasn't hungry. Still kiev and vegies for dinner but DS is sick so we'll see how we go.

I wondered if I could join the over 50s class, I figure it will probably go at my speed :rotfl:

(Although it's quite possible it might go too fast!)

They are ninja grannies in my class! I'll be huffing and puffing and tripping over my shoe laces and these women will have barely raised a sweat! At least when I take prep for sport I can feel like a mega athlete :) except for duck duck goose, I always manage to trip myself over on some little kid :(

Ohhh I need to get back in here. I've been ordered off exercising (other than slow walking) by my chiro /osteo for the short term though, and I tend to eat WORSE when not exercising :(

Hey there...happy to respond to your questions about your mum. She will need to eat protein and lots of it! My diet now is very much protein base saying that I still enjoy a piece of dark chocolate every afternoon with a cup of tea. I have lost 19kg in just over three months I weigh 78kg now :cheer2:It was the best thing I have ever done for my health. However it's a tool and I fear if your mum continues. To eat bad food but just in smaller amounts this surgery will not have the outcome she wants. The best thing about this surgery is they cut away most of the hormone in the stomach that causes you to feel hungry. It's a lot easier to eat healthy when u r not hungry:thumbsup2I am now in a size 14 I feel greatpixiedust:Looking forward to what the future holds and a lot more positive about life now. Hope that answers some of your questions and is some help to u and your mum;)
