Scrumptious meals, favorite snacks, dessert parties. Hummmmmmm!!!! It is impossible for me to go to WDW and diet. To make things even worse, after this marathon, I have a 4 night cruise... Well, in order not to be mistaken with Shamu, I have decided _ after sunday pizza _ to diet seriously, or at least as seriously as my job allows (I review restaurants), and to go back to 5 work out sessions a week. Is anyone else trying to cut now to indulge later??? How do you prepare yourself for a Disney trip???

Normally the only thing I do to get ready to go to Disney is to try and walk (me and the dog) around a mile a day to get my feet and legs in shape. This year, though, I've started a low-calorie, low fat diet that seems to be doing the trick. Most people don't think I'm overweight, but I hide my paunch fairly well. Hopefully it'll be gone before November. I've got some gym equipment here at the house as well.

Tomorrow is DAY ONE of Tia's 'Get Fit For WDW Routine'

Walking is going to be my number ONE weapon against 'this body' and watching what I eat will be weapon number TWO! :D

I would like to lose at least 20 lbs. before DIS-Con

Good Luck Livia.....maybe we can help to encourage eachother for the next 3 months.

Steve, you have already been an inspiration to me!

And now Barb says she has lost 5 lbs.......wow! You guys are really working it!

Go Team Go!!! :bounce:

I will be walking 5 days a week (on the treadmill) starting Tuesday.

Tia: I will really need a lot of encouragement. My restaurant special edition is due to mid-october. Till then, I am expected to eat my way around Rio de Janeiro and pick the best italian, the best french, the best salad, the best whatever... But I have developed a survival technique for this which is: invite someone else to help sampling the food. The encouragement is needed mostly for the work out part of the process. At least, my gym is in the basement of my office building and it is not really a sacrifice to go there.

Steve: you are also an inspiration for me!!! Go for it, lad!

Gee, Livia, tough job!!!!!!!
I would be happy to accompany you. I wonder if my DH would mind if I took a "little trip"
to Rio?!?!?!?!:D ;)
Corinne

Smee: be my guest!!!! :)
Tia: you are also invited to fly down here and help me eat my way around, but only AFTER DisCon. For the moment, you are my cyberpartner in dieting and training. :D :D :D :D :D

Are we now the commando's who are getting fit? LOL I've been doing an aerobic dance class since about 1984. I took off about 2 years, and went back when I realized how much I missed it and needed it. Just recently, I've been getting so tired of carrying around the extra weight. I looked into treadmill training. I've seen some dramatic results from this. Unfortunately, the class is during my dance class. I won't give that up. I love that class. However, the girl in the weight room has set me up for an appointment to get me started on my own program! I start that on Sept. 10. I've also signed up for a Pilates class, that starts next week. Pilates is supposed to be a strengthening type of workout focusing on the abdomen and back, among other things. So, we'll see. I don't know that I have the dedication to stick this out. But, I've found as the last week or so has gone on, I'm not missing the sweets and extra snacks. So that's a very good thing! Everyone keep up the good work. Good luck to everyone just starting out! :D

Is this timely or what! I too am in definate need of a Disney readiness program. For the last 6 months, we have been undergoing a home addition project. This has not lent itself well to eating right or exercising. Lots of quick meals and take out.

Well, the good news is we finished today! (Okay, there is still some decorating to do, but my sofa has come out of storage and the TV!!! It is a very big deal for us because we lost our living room to storage 4 months ago!!!)

So, now that that is better, it is time to start taking better care of me. (DH has a physical job, and gets plenty of exercise!)

My goal is to walk at least 2 miles 4 times a week by the time of the convention. Starting tomorrow, I will start walking with my dogs each day. Good luck to all!

I'm exercising my right arm for DATW, my lungs for screaming on RnR Coaster, my stomach for surviving RnR Coaster, and my smile for hosting the Beavertail Meet.

I'm also packing clothes that have a large percentage of lycra.

;)

I already lost 10 pounds for my sisters wedding and I would like to loose 10 more before the convention (20 more would be better.....). So, no snacks for me and I'll try to continue using my bicycle instead of my car (cycling to work is about 6 miles a day). Unfortunately, the weather forecasts show lots and lots of rain this week:rolleyes:

I think we should have a mini-meet where we do a few laps around World Showcase and the Boardwalk. :)

Wow, sounds like a lot of people are really getting on this. I was at the store yesterday, and found no-fat, no sugar ice cream. Vanilla/raspberry swirl and Creamsicle (Dreyer's brand). YUM! You really don't taste the difference, and there's no weird aftertaste.

Tonight I'm going to Stuart Anderson's Black Angus for dinner. That should test my resolve. No Chocolate Mountain Fudge cake for me!

Off to walk Bandie..... :D

Okay, I'm working on it. :p <IMG width="175" SRC="http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/snowwark3/beaversports.gif">

:bounce: I did it! I actually did it! This is it! I'm on my way now! I walked for an hour tonight! :bounce:

I plan to walk an hour for 5 days a week......6 and7 days if I can! :bounce:

This is it DIS-Con friends......we're on our way to healthier bodies! :) :) :)

Good Luck everyone! :sunny:

Congrats, Tia!
I also behaved like a good girl today, walking 45 minutes on the threadmill and having my vegetable soup for dinner.
If we persevere, we will be the "athletic commando squad" at DisCon.

Wait for me!!! :)

Actually, my DH and I walked today for about 1/2 mile. Folks that may not seem very far, but, when you are my size, it's better not to push it too much when you haven't exercised regularly for a while.

I hope the weather holds out here, I'm taking the kids to walk this evening. I know that I HAVE to get in better shape before DIS CON, or I'll be spending time and $$ on a wheelchair. I keep that option open, but I sure don't want to have to!!!!

Two years ago I lost 80 pounds over a year. I loose VERY slow!! But I walked and did water aerobics, and had a life changing experience. I changed my diet and after about four months on a plateau, I just quite trying to loose more :(
Now that I have some extra time, I will undoubtedly start back exercising and perhaps reach my goal for WDW which had originally been, 100 pounds. (from two years ago)

Even if I don't loose a single pound, I'll feel better about myself and have more energy!
Thanks for any support here. I know the rest of you guys will do great and loose weight.
Gerri

Dear Gerri! Way to go! I also lose veeeeery slowly and gain pretty quick. That means that I have to be always on guard, because of all the eating I have to do for my job. It is a bore when you reach that plateau!!! That is why WW and many doctors advise people not to look at the scale too much. I am sending lots of pixie dust your way!!!
