My brother wants to ask his gfriend to marry him on our family trip in Dec.Any ideas on neat ways he can do it? Is it possible to get a character to help out?

I am sure that Disney World would help out. Their commercials for "What Will You Celebrate?" speaks volumes.

I'm taking my wife to WDW for our 10th anniversary and will be trying to do a lot of neat things for her. One of the cool things I always see is getting a diver at Coral Reef (restaurant) in Epcot to hold up a sign. Call and talk to the manager about doing it as early as possible because I guess they can't do the signs for just everyone. Get a spot close to the tank and have at it.

Here is an example of one sign. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_K_ekvqPNPy4/RvsgWcUrHUI/AAAAAAAAAT8/QeC24Hg0FnM/P1020292.JPG

If you call the Disney Florist there are actual packages that you can work out for any special event. I've heard of people doing a scavanger hunt with the help of Characters and CMs. I would call and talk to a CM there and they will help you with whatever you need.

My husband proposed during the fireworks at Disneyland...that was enough for me! I also know someone who proposed on Pirates, right before the big "plunge".

Oh gosh.. all these ideas are so sweet! Although I am married 16 years, I still love to read them, oh if I could do it all over again!:rolleyes1 :lmao:

My daughter got engaged at Cinderalla's Royal Table in Sept 2006!!!:bride:
My new son -in -law:banana: had set it up with WDW though the dining reseverations.
We had our dinner(yes he proposed in front of her mother, father, sister and brother in law we all knew it was going to happen:cool1: )

For dessert a waiter brought out a plate cover with a silver dome, he set in from of her, lifted the lid and said "For you Princessprincess: " on the plate was a glass slipper with a rose bud in side the slipper her ring was slip over the rose, and the glass slipper was sitting on a bed of rose peltals, the slipper was engraved with their names on one side and the will you marry me on the other.
He took the ring off the rose and got down on one knee and ask "will you marry me?" in front of us everyone else . The castle had gotten quite when
people started to notice something was going on. After she said yes,
and they kissed everyone appauded. For dessert they got white chocolate slipper filled stawberry and creme and the plate said will you marry me?
A photopass photo was also there to take pictures.
When the Fairygod Mother and the mice came out to do their show, the FG asked it any one had any special dreams come true and everyone pointed to my daughter, The FG and the mice made a big fuss of the ring and congradulated them.
It truly was a dream come true. I know my daughter will always remember and so will I.
So I would say just call WDW and something can be set up, give them an idea of what your brotherwould like and see what they can do.
Congradations on the upcomming wedding:)

My daughter got engaged in the Magic Kingdom. My SIL took her to the Castle and inside the walkway are beautiful mosaics of a princess and prince (I am assuming it is Cinderella). He had arranged for a Disney castmember to photograph the event and he propossed to her in front of this beautiful mosiac. After she said yes, the crowd cheered and clapped for them. The pictures are so beautiful and as much as I would have liked to see this for myself, the pictures were perfect.

I thought this might be a good time to mention that there is a book called "World's Greatest Proposals." It is a collection of short stories about how people got engaged.

how about on the beach at the Poly while watching Wishes? :lovestruc

Yes!! That is so cute =).

DF proposed to me on the monorail platform to Epcot outside of Magic Kingdom. He wanted to do it in front of the castle but it was crowded. He didn't have a ring at the time, but I am getting one eventually...hoping for my birthday/anniversary. But it was still so adorable he did it.

My DS proposed to his DGF on our last trip to the World this past April. We always get several pics taken in front of the castle at park opening by a photopass photographer when we enter the park.

I told the Photographer my DS was going to propose and would he take a bunch of pics. We took our group shot and then I told DS and DGF to get a pic with just the two of them. My DS got down on one knee and proposed. His DGF was shocked. It was a very emotional moment for all of us.

Our wedding gift to them is a trip to WDW.

You can buy a glass slipper at the Aribbas Brothers on Main Street. You can also have it engraved.

I am always hearing how surprised brides were at proposals. I am wondering how often that is the truth. Wouldn't a man want to be sure of what the answer would be before he asked of front of other people? What if the answer was then no?

Well, I think in the very, very large majority of proposals the concept of marriage has already been discussed. ;) I, myself and my DH talked about it often to see if we truly wanted the same things in life. I however was completely surprised when he finally did pop the question. I had no idea it was coming on that day or even that month! Although I did believe that it would happen at some point in time. When I had the ring on my finger I just couldn't believe it actually had happened. I think for the large majority of "surprise" proposals that is the case.

Last time we were there we witnessed a proposal while waiting for the parade right in front of the castle. CM had a mic and called everyones attention to the couple and then he got down on his knee and proposed. Very cute!! Think about where you want to do it and contact Disney I'm sure they'll help you with what you want to do. Good luck!:yay:
