I loves this board! I has help so much in planning my family's Christmas Vacation to the World. I know that on a Disney Cruise you can have things (pillowcases, Vinylmations, photo mats ect) dropped off at guest services and they will get characters to sign them.
Here is the question, does the same principle apply at the World? My mom is a major photo collector and I would love to drop off a photo mat at Guest services and either pick it up later that day or even the next day.
Has anyone done this and been successful? Can you tell me what you go signed and what your experience was? (Was it difficult? How long did it take before you could get it back?)

There is so much knowledge on this board!!! I just love it!

I think they only do this on the Disney cruise ships. And they've had to put a limit on how much stuff can be submitted per stateroom (not per person, per stateroom).

This is the first I've heard that it might be done in the parks. As far as I know you cannot do this in the parks.

Thanks for the replies. We are of course planning on taking the Photo Mat around and getting it signed, however I thought that if by some off chance I could just get them signed at Guest Services, I would not run the chance of them getting ruined or bent up in a bag.
Thanks

well a little secret is that some of the cast members know how to sign more than one of the signatures.. i know a girl who worked there and she signed a picture as mickey minnie donald goofy ect for me to send to my newphew

1) Guest Services at parks do not have this option.
2) Can you imagine 25,000 people per day asking for signed items.
3) However, there ways.
. . . go to your resort Concierge Desk
. . . all resorts have a minimum of 3-4 "signers" (backroom or front concierge)
. . . they sign such items as balloons, greeting/birthday/welcome cards, etc
. . . these folks have graduated the course(s) for specific characters
. . . ask if a "character signer" works that shift
. . . if so, ask KINDLY and SWEETLY if they could sign the shirt *
4) Signatures are the sole discretion of the CM.
5) If you are nice, they might get one for you.
6) Do not be disappointed if they are too busy and say no.

* I would not ask for more than one item. The "signer" CM's have other
jobs they do, and squeeze in card signing as a favor to guests. Such new
requests could interfere with their other workload. And, yes, I did go to
the signature class - but the preliminary one, not the advanced class for
less popular characters.

Oh horsehockey; Guest Relations will generally be more than happy to do their best to get a signature for you. Drop off your item early with plenty of time; the Guest Relations CMs will need to find the friends of that character (or characters) in order to acquire the signature.

Now, I'm not saying they absolutely will, but I would never have turned down someone who asks for that provided they give me enough time to track down a character. I wouldn't leave them a book but a small handful of characters shouldn't be too hard to overcome.

I'm sure that if you really wanted Guest Relations could get the signature of any Disney character that ever existed. Why would they track down a character for a signature? Just get some guy in the back room to do it.

I realize we all enter into a "suspension of disbelief" at Disney but "real" signatures is a bit much.

Isn't that pretty much what they do? Except it's done in the back room by someone trained to give that autograph. And many others, I'm sure.

Exactly. If someone is going to do this to get autographs for young children they may as well save themselves the trouble and sign it themselves. It's no different than telling kids about Santa Claus.

like i said there are CM's that are trained to sign as many characters, each character has their own unique signature so if you just sign it yourself you wont have the authentic unique signature

Gee I see a money making opportunity that I'm shocked Disney hasn't thought of.

"for $25 drop off an item at kiosk on main street and request 1-5 character signatures and then pick up item as you leave or have item delivered to your resort"

"for $50 you may request 6-10 signatures"

Throw a couple CM's in a room somewhere and voila! autographed items.

they could do this at each park and have characters that are only available at each park so you can't get them all at one and have to fork over more money at each park!

Brilliant.
