Getting bumped and DME?

We are planning on using DME when we come to WDW on our vacation. Always looking to save some money, we often volunteer our seats when an airline overbooks and offers compensation. However, this means that we won't be on the same flight as our luggage. What happens if our luggage arrives but we don't? Will DME collect it and take it to our resort, even if we aren't on the bus at the expected time? Also, will DME hold our bus reservation if we arrive a couple of hours late?

Incoming you're not assigned a specific bus/time. Won't be an issue if you arrive late. Won't be an issue if your luggage arrives before you do. You might find your luggage waiting for you in your room. The only issue might be if you accept a bump and wind up not taking the trip. Disney will have to get your luggage back to your airline so it can be sent back to your home airport.

Your bags will be fine. They will be taken right off the plane and put in the WDW resorts area. They will then go to your resort.
As far as DME holding your spots on the bus?? Not an issue either. You aren't assigned a particular bus, so you just go, get checked in, and into the bus line as soon as you show up. I know that a year ago, our flight from Boston was cancelled and they had to bring in a new plane....we left Boston at the time we should have been landing in Orlando. And then, because we were 3 hrs late, we spent longer than usual on the tarmac, waiting for a terminal spot to open up. So, all in all we arrived about 4 hrs after we should have. DME didn't care at all. No problems.

We have volunteered and gotten the bump many times and NEVER had and issue with DME! Scored $1200 for the two of us last week. We try to book flights through Chicago as it seems to be a busy airport and have gotten bumped going down and coming home!!!

Last week I happened to spot my luggage in the bell services area and they took me and the luggage to the room.
