Our trip is early November, coming up. :woohoo: I planned and made my ADRs at the 180 mark. Have been looking forward to Le Cellier alot, especially the filet and risotto---and now Im getting bummed==its been getting bad reviews lately it seems. Too crowded, food not so great, different menu. Starting to wonder if I should bail and go to...??? Flying Fish? Boatwrights? Yachtsmans? :confused3

From what I have read here, not all the menu changes have been actually confirmed and some have been contradicted. A fall/winter menu may be in effect when you go in Nov so relying on info from Aug/Sept also may not be accurate. And just remember for every "bad" review you see on these boards there are many "good" or "great" reviews that may never be written about b/c a lot of people don't make noise when something was good. If you have always enjoyed Le Cellier, don't let some posts here discourage you from going back.

We have never tried it, which is why Im looking forward to going (had been?), anyway, it'll be our first time....guess we should maybe give it a shot, see for ourselves...

We ate there last Monday for the first time and it was a really great meal. I had the mushroom filet with the risotto and it was a great meal - wonderfully prepared and cooked just like l like it! I was thinking that there was no way that it could live up to the hype, but it was certainly a great meal. DBF loved it and wanted to go back while we were there!

It was a bit crowded, but it didn't bother us at all - and crowded restaurants sometimes do bother us.

Food is such a subjective thing, some people rave about 50's Prime Time and Ohana, go figure! Personally I wouldn't thank you for either again .....

We have Le Cellier booked 3 times during our upcoming stay and cannot wait to eat there.

We just ate there on 9/9 and it was great. I had the mushroom filet and my friend had the maple bbq glazed filet. We both enjoyed our steaks very much. I'm already booked to eat there again in January and can hardly wait!

Even though Le Cellier has had an odd bad review, it seems to get the most consistently good ones!
I would say stick with it!

Absolutely. Also, keep in mind that sometimes some folks project their message using hyperbole and exaggeration, making a rather minor thing into a major disappointment, out of concern that their opinion won't be acknowledged over the din of other voices. Assume everything good and everything bad you read online is about 20%-30% less good or 20%-30% less bad than it sounds. :)

I think every restaurant has its' up and its' down meals. It's all a matter of personal choice. The last time I ate there( feb.'07 ), I found my steak to be a little tough. Everyone else at the table said their steak was perfect. The other 15, or 20 times I've eaten there were perfect. It's always crowded there even in value season. If you like steak, I'm sure you will like it. :thumbsup2

I'd encourage you to go ahead and go to Le Cellier. Reviews tend to go in cycles here on the DIS boards . . . a restaurant starts getting great reviews, and then posters start to agree that it is a "must do", and then people start to post negative reviews about the restaurant, usually in a genuine attempt to be helpful. Sometimes there is just a spirit of contrariness to these negative reviews, too.

I can't guarantee you will have a great experience at Le Cellier or any other restaurant. Every restaurant can be off on a given night. I personally think the odds are really good, though, that you'll have a very good or even excellent experience. Just don't set your expectations too high, and I'll bet you will enjoy the evening.

I'm definitely going back to Le Cellier this trip! Enjoy your evening there. :)

I would say you need to be the judge Le Cellier for yourself. I think its human nature to want to tear down anything that has been elevated to a high stature (as Le Cellier used to be here on the disboards). People go in with impossible expectations and may come out disappointed. While I was disappointed with our seating (girl up front screwed up and our name was not added to the queue after we checked in)- so we had to wait 35 minutes to be seated- the food was still really good. Just as a note- I would however avoid the smoked salmon and cheese timbale appy- I'm not sure which chef thought that one up- but the combo of flavors wasn't all that fantastic in my opinion. Food tastes are so subjective- and again I do think people like to tear down things that have been overly praised.

There is no way you can have a bad meal if you take some control of your dining, just tell them if there is a problem and they will correct it - a lot of people just live with the problem, don't say anything and then come back and complain about it.

We have never been able to get into this place, we do a lot of spur of the moment trips. I booked it for dinner for our Dec trip and am excited about trying the mushroom filet too! I dont care what anyone says, I am trying it for the first time and no one can talk me out of it!!

LeCellier is an absolutely horrid restaurant

we've eaten there @ least once each trip, gets worse each time

everyone who's eating there the week of Oct. 8th(especially tables for 3) should cancel their ADR's & let me know ASAP so we can eat there more than once

honestly, it offers good cuts of well-prepared meat, & the cheese soup/pretzel bread are divine. Would think if anyone was unhappy w/an offering, anywhere on site, they would let the server know ASAP & they will make it right (as will any restaurant worth it's salt).

good luck, hope you enjoy your trip:banana:

As one who was "closed out" of Le Cellier way back in April or May for our trip 9/24 - I suggest you keep it and form your own opinion.

This is not one of those places that has consistently gotten very mixed reviews on the DIS - like - Alfredo's, for instance.

Still calling daily and implementing all tips and hints. Also ceased to whine.... we're going to WDW and maybe will try LC next time!!!

GO, aviva - and enjoy!!

I happened to like it there and they were very accomidating to me last time I went, I was not feeling well and they took my whole meal and boxed it to go, by the time 10pm came I was hungry and ate it and as usual it was delicious. I go there each time I take a trip to DW. Good luck, I bet you'll enjoy it :thumbsup2

We had a fantastic dinner there a couple of years ago, I am still keeping it on the list for this year despite the reviews. I'm sure that it will be fine (hope so anyways). :dance3:

As someone who's lambasted Le Cellier pretty harshly recently I'll be the first to recommend you keep your ADR if you've never been. Some of us seem to just have consistently bad luck with this restaurant *sigh* :guilty:

It used to be a family favorite for us but not any longer. However, as others have mentioned it consistently rates highly among DISers and the various guide books. I hope you'll check it out and decide for yourself. Worst case... it's a bad meal and you can post here to keep the debate raging :teeth:
