Getting borrowed points back to 2022 use year

we borrowed 60 points from our 2022 contract. Our use year starts in August. The reservation was for February 2022 using points from the 2021 contract and borrowing 60 from the 2022 contract. We had to cancel back in Novemeber. The borrowed points were not returned to 2022 and I was told by member services that once they are borrowed they can not be returned to the previous contract. I do not remember this being the case in the past. Any advice? I now have 2021 points that can be banked but it says those borrowed 2022 points have to be use by July 2022 or they are lost? This doesn’t make sense to me.

This is correct. Borrowing is a final transaction

This has always been the case and if points were previously returned it was a gift, not policy.

The only time that they allowed borrowed points to be returned was from April 2020 to April 2021 due to the closure in 2020 and related issues due to the pandemic,

Other than that, borrowing has always been a final transaction and points kept in the UY they were moved into for a trip.
