Hi
Which is the best way to get beer while staying in Disney? Don't want to buy it on property and don't want to have to take a cab off of property. Are there any delivery services that will deliver it to us while we are there??? Not sure the best route to go? I am pretty sure we can't ship beer down ahead of time, right???

Any help is appreciated.

Some people have elected to take a bus to Downtown Disney (can't remember which stop) and there is a Hess gas station across the street to purchase items such as beer, bottled water, etc. Then you just walk across the street again and get back on the bus to your hotel.

We always get it from www.gardengrocer.com. They do have a minimum order and a delivery charge but we get things like water and snacks and fruit for the room.

You have to either call them directly if you only want alcohol, or once you complete your order there is a special comments section where you will put exactly what you want. I had to fax my ID over the 1st time, but after that they have me on file.

And I believe you have to be there to accept it at your resort when they deliver as well.

Where are you staying? There's a Hess station within walking distance of the Boardwalk/Yacht&Beach Club.

I have found Garden Grocer to be quite high - the prices of the items are higher than expected, plus the delivery fee, fuel surcharge and then the tip on top of that.

We have never had to be there to sign. It might be because I placed the order and I also made the reservations? It has always been delivered to my room with no interaction from me.

Dh took a cab from Downtown Disney to grab "supplies", even with the little cab ride we saved alot over our 10 day trip!

I ordered a case of Sierra Nevada from Garden Grocer along with our breakfast supplies. I did not have to be present. The resort accepted our delivery and refrigerated what was needed.

Hi

Beer is readily-available (and reasonably-priced) at the three Hess Express c-stores/gas stations on WDW property. If you happen to be military, the PX/BX inside Shades of Green sells brewskis on the cheap, as well.

Are there any delivery services that will deliver it to us while we are there???

Other than the various outside grocery delivery companies, the answer is "no".

With that said, you have a couple of remaining options -- room service and your resort's gifts/sundries shop (both of which are pretty expensive).

I am pretty sure we can't ship beer down ahead of time, right???

No, that is against the law.

I was going to say, alcohol is usually banned from shipping. There's a poster on the door/desk of every Post Office that shows a list of banned items. Probably can find that list online some where too.

If you order online, they usually ship UPS or FedEx and they have special contracts for those kinds of shipments.

If you take the bus to DTD, get off at the second stop for Pleasure Island/West Side. It's a short walk from there. Then the other gas station is right outside the gates for Boardwalk. There's a parking lot just behind the Hess station mostly for CMs but it's also used during busy times for guests visiting the resort to eat/shop/clubs. So it won't look strange or feel out of place if you decide to walk to the gas station from there.

The Hess gas stations do not charge any sort of premium for being on property. However, they do hold some rules, such as: no gum and no Pepsi or anything besides Coke line of products. They do however sell cigarettes which can not be found any where else on property, besides the cigar shop at West Side. So if the chain has a sale on 12 pack of beer, you're going to find that same sale on property or off property.

We order from wegoshop.com - ..

They will shop at the stores that are best and cheapest for your order including beer and wine. I have always ordered water, fruit, snacks and breakfast items as well as beer & wine. Prices have been reasonable, service excellent and I have never had to be present for delivery. Most times the order has been left with bell service the day of our arrival and is brought up to us after checkin. (yes bell servcies keeps cold items cold!)
