Getting Back The Christmas Spirit

I just haven't been feeling it this year but today I had my own little Miracle on 34th Street moment.

I took dgd to the mall to get some new shoes. After we got the shoes, she wanted to walk around and look at the decorations so we wondered around and came up on where Santa is set up.

He was the greatest Santa!!! He was elderly and just so sweet. He waved at dgd before we got there and told her to come see him so we did. She has been a little afraid this year but he just kept talking to her until she finally got brave and went and sat beside him. They talked and talked.

She told him what she wants for Christmas (dollhouse and a Barbie) and he asked if she wanted anything else. She asked for him to bring something for her sister and her Daddy and her grandma. He just gushed about her thinking about others and said what a blessing she is.

Before we left, she gave him a big hug. And I, of course, was in tears.

She wants to see him again so we are going back this weekend and taking her sister. I think we might take him a little ornament or some other little "happy"

It was just what I needed! After I took her back home I went back to town to get some shopping done and just kept Santa in mind all day. It made it a joy even with all the crowds and not finding the exact things I was thinking about buying.
