This will be our first time to buy annual passes as DVC members (in fact, we have not bought annual passes in several years since we have been doing the Magic Your Way packages lately). Do we get them ahead of time as vouchers (and if so where and how) or just buy them at the gate? I want to make sure we get them before any price increase----although we'll be there 08/13/09 and I haven't heard of any price increase between now and then.
TIA,
Erin

The last 2 years the price was increased the first week of August. Word only leaked out a couple days before. Last year I ordered one as soon as I heard and got the current price. You can do it online or through member services. You can have them mail it or pick it up at "will call". The year will start when you exchange the voucher for the actual AP.

How far in advance can you purchase them??
If I can avoid 2 potential price increases (Aug. 2009 & 2010) for my Oct. 2010 trip....
can that be done??
Thanks for your help Debbie.

You can order the vouchers anytime you want, they don't expire. I think I saw where someone activated them 5 years after they were purchased.

I have never seen an expiration date on any of the AP vouchers that I have purchased, so you can buy as many as you would like and put them away until you need them. You cannot purchase AP renewal vouchers, just vouchers for new passes. I looked into that possiblity last year when I knew that I needed to renew my DVC AP in December and was trying to avoid the price increase.

We are still cashing in vouchers that we purchased four years ago, they don't expire.

I just purchased mine today - logged into mydvc.com and then clicked to purchase the AP's from the AP page on the site.....opened the WDW Ticket's Page with the DVC AP as the option.....clicked how many I wanted, check-out and viola! that was all I had to do!

You can choose delivery (add $4.00 to total) or pick them up at Will Call when you arrive.

We bought ours about 6 months before our trip. Had the money went ahead and ordered them.

Vouchers don't expire. The risks include losing your vouchers, which you can minimize by photocopying them and keeping the copies in a safe place. I believe Disney can help you if you've lost the voucher but still have all of the numbers on the voucher.
The other risk, which is really small, is Disney opening another theme park. The voucher will not cover admissions to theme parks built after the time you purchased the voucher. This happened when the Animal Kingdom opened up. Old park hopper tickets did not apply to the AK.
Otherwise, with the price of tickets increasing faster than inflation, it's not a bad bet.
