This is our ( me, husband 6 and 4yo) first disney trip and so far I have been planning everything myself. Have spoken with a couple of travel agents have a room and airfare on hold but have not made final arrangements. Planning trip for 5/14/05-5/21/05. I was sent a room discount code from Disney. We are leaving on noontime flight out of NYC on 5/14 and returning on evening flight on 5/21. Both flights are non-stop. 7 nights in a standard room at POR and 7 day base tickets. Total cost so far about $1900. Is this a good deal? My concern is the food prices. Disney will not allow you to add on dining plan and use room discount code. Most people seem to think that plan is a good deal but I am uncertain we could actually eat that much food. But am terrified that we will end up spending $800 on food and still end up eating "junk" all week. Would like to go to 1 or 2 sit down restaurants during the week, maybe pizza in room another 1 or 2, maybe some breakfasts in the room and packing snacks /PBJ sandwiches for parks. But, I'm sure we will end up eating some quick meals at the park as well. Don't know mwhat to expect.

Try disney.com and get a quote for the room, 7 day MYW tickets and include the dining option. I priced out a 7 day trip in December for the 5 of us and it was $1,832 for room and tickets (at POR) and about $2,4xx (can't remember exactly) with the dining plan. The base price seems lower than what you've been quoted for 4 people (and we have 5). Good luck.

Look at it this way. Here's what you would be paying for a non-discounted package:

$764.68 7-day MYW Base Tickets
$1162.95 Rack Rate for Std. POR Room (Regular Season)

$2692.31 Total

The difference between what you're paying and this package is about $792.

Add the dining option for $35/adult + $10/child X 7 nights +11.5% tax (Yes, they tax the dining option using the room tax according to MouseSavers) = $702.45

So, to change to the MYW package w/dining would actually cost you $792 + $702 (a grand total of $1494.42) more just to go with the dining option. Now, doesn't that $800 for food look a lot more reasonable? With two young children, you certainly should be able to do 3 sitdown meals and several counterservice meals during your trip for $800.

Wow I did not know that you could not het the discount and the meal plan. The meal plan sounds great. I spent mad money last time about 8 hundred for me and my three year old on food.

Some DISers have reported that they have been able to add the dining plan to their postcard or email rates.

If codes come out for our dates, April 22-30, I plan to add the dining plan.

Debs1963, My sister and I used the postcard rate on our package. Room, tickets and meal plan. We are staying at the BWI. At first they said we couldn't add the meal plan with the pin but then after trying said oh yes it did work. Now i'm not sure if the meals actually were discounted but the total was 2348.00 for 2 adults and 1 child for 7 days and 6 nights at the Boardwalk, 2 tickets for seven days with the park hopper option and the meal plan. So I think we did pretty good. Call again and talk to someone else see if they can help you. Good luck. :wave2: This is an edit to my original post .......only the room was discounted not the tickets or the meal plan. I just wanted to give everyone an FYI. I did not want to mislead anyone. thanks Terri
