Getting a car at Sci-Fi

Quick question. I made a reservation for this April at the Sci-Fi Dine-in because DD10 and DNiece12 want to eat there. We've never been before. So they went up on allears.net and looked at the photos and are now worried that we won't get a car to eat in and they don't want to sit at a table or picnic table in the back.

Is there anyway to ensure that you get a car? There will only be 4 of us: the two of them and DH and myself. Do I have to add that request to my reservation?

We have always had a car every time we have eaten there - never had to request one. When you check in just ask for a car, you may need to wait a bit longer if they had you at a picnic table.

There are so many cars I wouldn't worry! it's truely neat in there! But if you want to be perfectly sure than just make sure you tell the person at the podium that you would like to request a car because the kids are really looking foward to that! When I first went they told me your pretty much gauranteed a car unless you have a small party or a coach ! Don't know how true but that's what I was told! Hope this helps!

The vast majority of seating is cars - they have a few token other tables for wheelchairs, high chairs, etc. That is not where they put parties without a special need usually.

I've eaten there many times, never requested any specific table, always seated in a car regardless of party size.

This is a fun place and is known for its theme, not the food. I stick with the milk shake, burger and fries with no problems. DD wanted to try something else when we were there in Dec. She will have the burger next time. The pasta and shrimp is okay too if you are not into burgers.

We ate here for the first time last year and it was very good. The food was great and it was like an old drive in. I just hope the change the movie, we watched the same short like 10 times while we ate.

We ate there in January, when we checked in they showed us a laminated sheet with pics of the different tables and asked what we preferred and told us which would be quicker (we had an ADR). Basically we could of been seated right that second if we didnt want a car, but we did, and waited about 5 mins.

We always get a car. There are only a couple of tables in the back. Just tell them when you ck in that you want a car.

And since someone mentioned the food, let me ask another question. I have heard the food quality is mediocre at best. We're going for an early dinner and I don't see a burger on the dinner menu. Can you get the burger anytime? What else do you recommend? My husband likes ribs, is that a good choice?

My DH and I ate there on our honeymoon last year and we had a great time!! The place was really neat. We sat in a car in the back seat and our CM took our picture of us kissing. The picture turned out great b/c it looks like we are at a drive in kissing in the back seat!

It is a little dark in there but over all great food and fun!

In Dec, I asked for a car when we checked in. The CM told me that just having the reservation guarantees you a car, unless you ask for other seating. But it can never hurt to ask and make sure! You can ask specifically for the front seats... some cars have 2 rows but some have 3 rows, and you might be "hitchhikers" behind someone else, or you might pick up hitchhikers.

Each seat is really only good for two people. So either the kids can "drive" up front or one adult is with one kid on each row. We haven't figured out whether my nephew will like it if we don't all sit together... but will have to wait to ask him, his trip's a surprise!

We had Reuben sandwiches (one with fries, one with the cucumber-melon salad), a Marsha's Martian milkshake, and a Blue Glo-tini. Everything was yummy!!

The food is adequate but not great. It is fun for awhile, but you really don't want to be there for a long time because the video starts repeating.

Actually, I'd suggest you have dessert and snacks there, but go have dinner somewhere else later on, maybe plan to get a CS something afterwards.

The drinks are kind of fun.

I agree with telling the host/hostess at check-in that you wish to be seated in a car even if that means a longer wait. It is a neat experience and I do think the kids will enjoy it.

I had the ribs and enjoyed them...avoid the chicken sandwich...my DD said VERY dry....I read here on the DIS that you can ask for burger at dinner.....when we went we were a party of 2 and asked for a car front seat and they accommodated us...

enjoy the Sci-FI..we thought it was very cool.....
