Just curious... with all this talk about early check-in to get best possible selection of rooms...

Our family usually arrives in the later afternoon. We had contemplated staying off-site nearby before we check in on future visits... I'm wondering if it's any advantage to consider staying in a studio on the first night in the DVC resort you plan to stay in, then check out / check in the next am bright and early... less problems with bags needing to be moved, all within that same resort.

We usually get a 2 br b/c we invite family -- we thought maybe we would just show up a day early before the rest of the gang and then get a jump on our bigger room for the long stay the next day.

Just a thought -- Or should we just go off-site?

If you get a studio for one night, then move to a 2 BR, unless you need a dedicated 2 BR, just have the new room (2 BR) linked to the studio reservation, then you may be able to just stay in the studio, and add the 1 BR side later in the day when it's ready.

We stayed at BWV last December, reservation arriving Saturday. I could not get decent air arriving Saturday, they cut flights. I got great airfare for Friday. We spent the night in the Boardwalk Inn, I got an AP rate of $169 plus tax, never stayed there before & wanted to. Had breakfast at Spoodles and checked in at 10am at BWV. Had the bellman pickup our luggage & put it into storage. It paid off because I requested a fireworks view from standard view at 11 months, they assigned us a first floor! Luckily they found us a top floor room that turned out to be perfect. Went to MGM and came back about 3:00 to get our room.

We usually use Priceline for the night before our DVC reservation. We always bid 3* in the WDW zone and have had great luck. We usually get the Hyatt Orlando for a bid of $35 (works out to about $43 w/tax & Priceline fee).

We usually check in on Sunday and I wouldn't spend the points for an extra Saturday night, even for a studio. But that's just me.

If you do priceline, how far in front of your arrival date do you place your bid?

I had thought about this too... (and by 3* I assume you mean 3star, as in AAA rating?)

Thanks --
Cindy

We have place our bid anywhere from 10 months in advance to just a couple of days ahead and had success.

And yes, 3* does mean 3-stars. The hotels that come up in this category are the Sheraton Safari in Lake Buena Vista, the Hyatt Orlando on 192 just outside the WDW gates, the Renaissane Worldgate on 192 by the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Hotel Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney. There may be some others, but these are the hotels we have gotten with our $35 bids. We have gotten all of the hotels one time each with the exception of the Hyatt Orlando which we have gotten many times.

Happy bidding!

Just wondering how early should we check into the BCV?
We will be on property the night before so time should not be an issue.

Thanks:p

Oh my gosh look at that count down clock!
I better start packing!
