Get milk?

I've heard from a friend who visited DL this July that milk is really hard to find in DL.

We'll be touring w/ a little guy who drinks the stuff pretty often during the day, so...

1.) Which places sell milk, then? I've only heard that Red Rocket's Pizza in TL does.

2.) How much is it, and what size(s) do you get?

3.) How long will it typically keep this time of year in Anaheim in your average sippy cup, from what you've noticed?

4.) May we bring our own cow into DL, if necessary (ha ha)?

Most (if not all) the restaurants serve milk. I believe they come in small cartons. You can also purchase milk at the pizza place in DTD (Naples?).
Looking at the menus on the dlresort website looks like milk is about $1.75 on average (maybe more or less depending on the restaurant).
They also have small milk cartons at the GK buffet so perhaps all the buffets serve cartons???

My kids don't drink soda, so they get to choose between OJ, apple or another juice, milk, and water. I don't recall ever having a problem getting Milk at a sit down place. One of my kids usually picks milk.

FYI, When we travel we bring Horizon brand milk (organic) that are packaged in "juice" boxes. You can buy them in packs of 3 at Henry's, Sprout's, Whole Foods & Wild Oats ..... also at Sam's Club I heard.

The milk doesn't need to be refrigerated, so it doesn't spoil. Unless of course you stick the straw in & the seal is broken. You can always just pour the milk from the box into a sippy too.

These work great for us on road trips and when we visit family & want our kids to have the organic milk.

My kids also don't drink soda. Only water or milk. I've never had a problem finding milk in DLR or DCA. I do suggest buying the milk in DTD at Nappalini, because they sell it in the chug size (quart) and in the parks its only by the little carton. They do sell the chug size of chocolate and strawberry milk in DLR, but my kids don't drink that.
Have a great day! :thumbsup2

Milk is available at practically every place that sells food at DL. I don't know who told you that it was hard to come by.

I have a 2 year old and have never had a problem getting milk. It is available in some form or another all over the place.

A few places sell cartons, the bakery on Main Street sells it in a plastic cup (they pour it from a larger carton for you) and some places have flavored Nesquik milk in 16oz bottles (chocolate, strawberry, banana, or vanilla).

If you are looking for WHOLE milk, that is another story. It is harder to find. As mentioned, the bakery on main street sells it. I have also gotten it in small cartons at Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland. It is harder to find whole milk than lowfat.

If it is warm out, stick a couple ice cubes into the cup with the milk. It will keep longer that way and your child should not notice that it's a bit watered down. I do that all the time, but I also do it at home so he is used to it like that. Use the insulated sippy cups if you can. Once the milk is not cool to the touch anymore, dump it.

On a hot day, I would dump the milk after one hour. On a cool day, or in the evening, maybe after an hour and a half.

Another place I buy milk at is at Compass Books in Downtown Disney. They sell coffee there, but I like the bottle of milk.

If you are going to be entering and exiting DL on Harbor Ave, there is a McDonald's across the street from DL on Harbor and we often get a carton of milk there so we can have cereal in our rooms. It's cheaper than it is in DL. Also, if your hotel has a fridge, you could walk to the gas station on the corner of Harbor and Katella and buy a larger container of milk to keep in your room.

Thanks, everybody. My informant/ stylist traveled there in July, so maybe each other place she tried just ran out early due to crowds/ the heat, or maybe she's just suffering from post-DL amnesia (or workplace-aeresol-induced memory loss)? ;)

She might have been having issues finding it as "available" as soda and other drinks, like on the carts flowing around Disney and perhaps the only counter service she went to was Red Rockets.
I have more issues with the price, frankly, than the availability.
If I'm with a car, I'll purchase a quart of milk at the local grocery store. Even if I don't have it in the fridge, I've always been able to keep it cold, either in a cooler, or in the bathroom sink, either filled with ice. For the sink, I top it with a hand towel and have never had an issue.
There's always the option of powdered. I've actually heard good feedback about them. But, I've only been able to find it in nonfat.
That being said, I've never had an issue bringing a small soft-sided cooler (think lunch box size) into the parks with bottles and/or sippy's in it. That will keep the milk cold for longer. I also use a couple of those insulated sippys to keep liquid cooler longer. And, ice never hurts either!

We also had no trouble finding small cartons of milk in the park for our boys, though we stopped at restaurants, not the carts selling drinks and snacks.

We also bought a few half-gallons at a local grocery store to keep in our hotel room fridge. We don't eat a lot for breakfast, so we bought small plastic bowls and spoons and cereal to eat in our room each day. This was not only very convenient (to feed the kids before heading out for the day), but probably saved us a lot of money!

It was pretty hot while we were there, and I saw several kids being strolled around with a warm milk carton on front of them, YUCK! We bought milk at each meal, but carried water bottles around with us. We also brought individual-sized flavoring packets to flavor the water bottles (Kool-Aid, Crystal Lite and Gatorade), but found everyone really wanted unflavored water when we were thirsty.

I think Whitewater Snacks at the Grand Californian Hotel sells milk too. Right next to the soda machines they have fridge doors with lots of bottled juices and drinks. I believe they have milk though. Also, I think they might have some just outside the DL Hotel at this little snack shop.
