I posted this as an update on another thread, but wanted to see if people would respond to a specific thread on this...

Yesterday I received an e-mail that said, "Surprise, you've received a free upgrade from your value/mod. resort to either SSR or OKW!" It listed the travle dates 3/29-4/14 and we are traveling 3/30-4/3. It said to call by 3/29 as rooms were limited. So I called a couple hours later after work.

I called and got a friendly CM. She pulled up my current reservation, confirmed I had a code w/my e-mail that then was confirmed in her computer with my name. Then she put me on hold while she checked with "guest services". I was on hold for about 8 minutes. When she came back she said everything worked, except the computer is saying that there are no rooms available for my travel dates, even though the e-mail says I received the free upgrade. She said not to worry, but to call back in the coming days/weeks to see if something is freed up. She said she couldn't guarrantee that rooms would become available, but that it is often the case if it doesn't work right away. I said no problem and thanked her.

So being the impatient Dis-er that I often am, I hang up and then I try again using one of the 1-800 numbers. I get a gentleman named "Hamel" who is again very poilte. He verifies everything again as the first CM did and puts me on hold for about 5 min. He comes back and says it's taking longer than he expected and was I at home, to which I said no, I was at work, but that I was done with work and could wait. He said he was unsure how long it would take, but that he could call me at home and leave a voice mail when he got me the reservation. He verified my home number, I thanked him, and hung up. An hour and a half later I got home to a message from him. He said that he's still working with Guest Services on getting me the upgrade reservation, there were some problems, and "Don't worry," he would continue to try this evening and tomorrow. He will call me back and leave a message again.

Anyone ever have an issue with codes, but were told to call back or anyone have a similar situation where the CM said he/she'd work on your ressie and call you back????

THANKS!

Why do I have a feeling this free upgrade to OKW or Saratoga is going to include a DVC presentation?

I'll sit through a presentation if it means a free upgrade from a value resort...no problem.

I don't blame you!

Not only would I sit through it, I'd probably leave convincing DH that we NEEDED a DVC membership!! :rotfl:

OP-keep us posted on what you find out! Here's some pixie dust so that you don't have to call back too many times!! :wizard:

Hi
That same thing happened the other night. I was booking a package for December and the CM said that something was not working on her computer and she would call me back with the quote. I didn't feel as if she was telling me the truth. But she did call me back and I got a great package. She kept saying what a great deal it was. So now DH and I are going in Dec. to CSR.

I have a feeling they are expecting to be sold out on rooms, and since SSR and OKW are 2 of the largest resorts, you stand less of a chance of problems with availbility(you will be happier to hear it now that you have been upgraded now, than arriving at your resort to find there are no rooms left, and they have to scramble to find you something). Plus compleated SSR rooms are entering inventory all the time, so there are no reservations on those rooms.

OP SSR is really nice it is a great upgrade, I hope you have a good time

In the past I have had this happen with AAA discounts and AP discounts. I would call and ask a particular resort and would be told they don't have anything available, but to call back later and they might. Usually I would just book what was available and then decide later if I wanted to switch if the original resort did become available.

We had the same PIN offer last year and took advantage of this offer. We upgraded from Pop to Saratoga. You'll be happy to know, we were never asked to sit through any DVC presentation. As a matter of fact, we were never approached re: the DVC's. We are so greatful that we received the upgrade, that we are crossing our fingers that we'll get another one this year! If a room opens up, take it! We had our choice of a one bedroom or a studio! Take the one bedroom, it's absolutely beautiful! CONGRATS on the upgrade!

I want to see what happens with this. Our travel dates are April 7-14 and we're going to be staying at POR. I would love to get a free upgrade! Not that there's anything wrong with POR, but it would be cool to get an upgrade.

I'm curious as well.

I thought DVC couldn't solicit? We were visiting the Boardwalk Inn last trip and the sales rep there said something to that effect. We did receive paperwork in the mail a few months later, but he said we had to request it. :confused3 My husband and I thought this was a little strange...perhaps Disney doesn't want to be lumped in with all the other "timeshare" type people. Like someone else said, I'd sit through a day long seminar if it meant an upgrade. :) Plus, it gives you a way to view the other resorts while being driven around.

UPDATE

So I call back today to see if they can apply the upgrade yet. Bonnie Jo tells me I have no reservation! WHAT THE??!!!!! Oh no, there is a CANCELLED reservation, but no current reservation . Since my conf. number is at home, she can't double check it, but everything under my name indicates it was cancelled. She makes a comment that it appears I had a reservation for OKW for March 3, but I didn't make a deposit so it was cancelled. :confused3 Om, how about March 30? And no one notified me of any change, except Hamel, a CM who said he was checking on getting me the upgrade, but had not yet notified me of it.

 So I freak out in my head a little. I ask her to check room availability at values since we obviously need a place to stay. GUESS WHAT...NO AVAILABILITY except for a suite at AS-M for $265 b/f tax. Yea, no. I want a $133 room because that's all I want to afford. I explain that although I realize that although I don't have a current reservation, what can be done to get a reservation in this long line of an original reservatiion to Hamel trying to get an upgrade????

Well....after an hour mostly spent on hold between her and guest services (btw....who is GS and what power do they have over the CMs because she had to go through them for everything?) She says GOOD NEWS...:woohoo: Guest Services has allowed me to book you at OKW for 4 nights with the dining plan. And for the amount I would have paid at POP. Gotta love Bonnie Jo for helping my situation go from tragic to magic. I was not a happy camper to begin with and to tell you the truth, all I wanted was a room for the originally amount....I didn't care where.

So....beware of changing your reservation and beware of who you talk to. I still don't know who changed my reservation. She did talk to Hamel and he was still working on it and knew nothing about the change. So I don't know where the third party got involved to dump my original package and add on a completely different date and place.

After that and dealing with 150 high-strung middle-schoolers....I need a :drinking1

Middle Schoolers............:stir: ONLY ONE?!?

Great job and congrats. Our faith in Disney Magic is revived.

Wow, values are filled for your time frame, which is a week before Easter, yikers, can you imagine what Easter week will be like?

My DH was going down on business and I booked him a room at the POP with dining, etc. Had reservation number and everything. He gets to Pop early evening and they tell him that he does not have a reservation. He calls me up panicking. I told him to tell them that I went thru the 800 number which is wdw travel agency and when I get home I will call. Well they told my husband that they found his name but it was under some other women's name, something like mary Murray. We were like - who is that. I called wdw travel and they found it right away, called POp and got it all straightened out. they were not going to give him the room at first. I wonder if they, WDW, has a problem with reservation getting other peoples name and therefore can not find it by name. Very strange. Make sure you have all names, sounds like you do, and your reservation with you when you check in. good luck and enjoy the upgrade.

I received the WTC pack of info on my POP reservation package that, as of yesterday, had disappeared.....what??? So it is no where to be found yesterday, yet I get confirmation in the mail?

And to add to the mess, Hamel, the oringinal CM with whom I spoke, leaves a pissy message on my machine saying he worked for four hours to get my reservation and didn't he tell me he'd work to get it for me and let me know? But it seems another CM had fixed it for me, so he wishes me a Disney Day. What??? Can we get our stories straight over at CRO or WTC or whoever I called? All I did was call to check-up on my reservation progress since I don't know Hamel or how to reach him. Then the whole reservation craziness was sprung on me and I was actually glad for double checking because it seems Hamel got my dates wrong and booked me for the 3rd of March, not the 30th, which led to my reservation being cancelled by the end of teh day because it was already 30 days from my trip and I had to pay in full, yet no one notified me anything was transferred or cancelled.

Bottom line....don't mess with a good thing, I guess. It all worked out for us, but it does beg for some consistent policies on behalf of the CMs. You call one and they say no, you call another and they say yes, you call another and they say maybe, you call again and you feel like you're on the tea cups after a large meal. Craziness, I tell ya.

"Ma'm, you've just spent hours on the phone with WTC/CRO trying to get your reservation sorted out, now what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to Disney World.....I think....yes, Om, yes.....I beleive I have a room and tickets. Yes....I do....I think."

Oh wait there is a flag on the play:banana: .................15 yards for excessive celebration! You have to call and redo your ressies under your mothers maiden name..... :scared1: Just kidding good luck

What is going on, that name was on my ressie at POR. The person asked me who Murray's were. She took them off of our Ressie's. I also used the 800 number. I got our package in July and the Murray's were added on in Sept. when I called to see if there were any discounts. So it does pay to call periodically to have CRO look at your ressie.
