Germs On Finger Scanners!

I never use any kind of anti-bacteria at WDW! I certainly wash my hands after using going to the restroom, but never have I worried about using anti-bacterial gel of any kind. Every where you go and everything you do involves germs and you can't escape them!! :earseek: We did bring some wipes with us this year though because we have noticed in past years that the handles in Splash Mountain have a foul smell that gets on your hands and soap and water will not take it out. I hate it when you can smell your hands all stinky. I think they may have changed the handles this year though because they didn't stink (or at least washed them) I always sleep in the beds without worry. I did however think about those finger things and how people are always sneezing on their fingers and picking their nose etc. Then, I forgot about it. I figured I wouldn't eat without washing my hands anyway and I wasn't going to stick my fingers in my mouth, so why worry, just enjoy Disney while I was there. I don't worry about germs, I just don't like it when my hands smell of something unatural! :rotfl:

And excuse the ignorance but... where are these germ scanners... sorry! finger scanners? what are they used for? is your finger print linked to your ticket or something like that?

Thanks!

Karla
Well, not exactly fingerprints, but finger size/shape is checked by these scanners at the gates. The scans are to link you to your ticket. When they say "Non-transferrable", they mean it! It used to be just for Annual Passes, now it's for everybody.

If I let everything that Could worry me, worry me -- I'd go nowhere, do nothing and spend the rest of my life sitting in som plastic tent with O2 being pumped in.

In this day and age, I'm willing to accept that anything "could" happen, and kill me -- and I don't care. I want to live "life" desipte the growing list of things that might make that more difficult, or impossible.

:)

So do I need to carry Purell to the dining halls at college with me? They have those finger scanners for entrance too. Guess people will identify me as the freshman!
I dont know. I've never come back from Disney any sicker than when I left here Actually I don't think I've ever come back sick or gotten sick immediately after. We dont lysol any of the stuff we touch in the room. I snuggle under the comforter and blanket. I walk barefoot (no socks even) across the carpet, and out onto the balcony. I've rarely remembered to haul out the purell before meal time (even if I've just been on Buzz). Here at home my immune system isn't always the best. But so far I've always been just fine acting like a kid at Disney.

Everyone needs to relax about the germs. God made this world GERMS and ALL. This germ fobia is one reason why we have an increase in auto-immune diseases in this country. My grandmother always said, "every kid needs to eat at least a pound of dirt to grow up healthy." I am not saying don't use basic common sense. Yes, wash before meals, cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing, take baths and stay away from sick people if you can. BUT, if we try to run form every germ (which is impossible), we will not build up any resistence to the bigger (and badder) germs. Yes, I will carry my wet-wipes and hand sanitizer to WDW for the extreme case of nastiness. But, only because I have small children. However, I will not freak out about the finger scanner. :earsboy:

we always bring antibactrical wipes and wipe our hands after the finger scanners, playing on Buzz (those guns must be filthy), and of course before we eat.
We actually don't go through too many wipes. THe one trip we didn't do this, we both got sick on our last couple days, since we used the wipes, we haven't gotten sick at the parks...actually we've starting using these when we go out anywhere and we haven't been sick since!

Your kids have good parents! :flower:

kind of getting a kick out of this tread ( they're everywhere they're everywhere)

soooo if you are afraid of germs did you know the worst place for them is a hospital rest room??? i read it is because anything there is extra virulent due to all the less strong ones being killed off( guessing by antibiotics, disinfectiants) just to add to anyone's mightmares....

on[/I] those dirty rears while they are sitting on that bedspread someone said they sleep on ewwwwww one more reason to camp! :rotfl: wait! that smilie means roll on the floor....actually don't touch the floor... either who knows what dripped there or maybe how many times the remote fell out of that dirty naked seat picking guy's hand and hit the floor
