I am going to try to keep track.

Kathy
Gena
Barb - Step 2
Tom
Cindy
Beverly - Step 2

Did I miss anyone?

OK - I added Cindy and put in the Steps for the people I know. Obviously I don't know much. :teacher:

Ok guys, need help planning my Sunday. We will be going to visit Mike's son at rehab. This is the dreaded "family" meeting I'm dreading. But I need help figuring out what to pack for my trip.
It will be a 2 hour trip one way. And probably an hour visit. We will be leaving the house around 10:30 or 11 as the meeting is at 1:30. Figure an hour for the meeting, then home.
I will eat breakfast around 8 or 8:30 with a 5x5 probably. Will a mozzy stick and some cashews work for me about 1/2 hour before the meeting? I will pack a few extra in case I'm more hungry than I plan. I know we will stop to eat somewhere, so I will probably just eat a chicken salad or something to that effect.
Does this sound like a game plan?
Also, can we have agave nectar? I picked some up for baking. I heard it cooks better than splenda/stevia, etc.

Agave nectar will probably be fine on step two, but not on one. It's similar to sugar alchols where it has a lower glycemic index, but does still affect blood sugar. Here's a chart I got from about.com that could be helpful.

Natural Sweeteners Glycemic Index

Rating
Agave Nectar 15
Fructose 17
Rice Syrup 25
Raw Honey 30
Barley Syrup 42
Maple Syrup 54
Blackstrap Molasses 55
Turbinado Sugar 65
Pastuerized Honey 75
Refined White Sugar 80

Here's one for sugar alcohols too

Comparison of Sugar and Sugar Alcohols

Ingredient Sweetness GI Cal/g
Sucrose(sugar) 100% 60 4
Maltitol Syrup 75% 52 3
Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate 33% 39 2.8
Maltitol 75% 36 2.7
Xylitol 100% 13 2.5
Isomalt 55% 9 2.1
Sorbitol 60% 9 2.5
Lactitol 35% 6 2
Mannitol 60% 0 1.5
Erythritol 70% 0 0.2

Kathy are you on Step 1?

If so, you leave at 10:30 to arrive at 12:30. I would plan to eat my lunch before going in for the meeting. That should be easy enough since you are driving and can take a cooler. You need to find something easy for you to eat. Maybe meat and cheese roll-ups or a small salad. Then, you can eat a 5x5 when you come out. I'd bring some cheese and nuts for snacks when you need them.

Thanks Bev. Ya, I'm still on step 1. I'm going to put that in my siggy too. I'm not good at planning at all. I am the most unorganized person in my house. Thanks again. I think I'll get some ham and I have l/f cheese, and I'll get some good leaf lettuce.

Thanks Nell. I'm going to bookmark the website. How do you guys find all this stuff? My sister does the same thing. I've been trying to post wedding pictures on FB for 2 days, and I always get almost to the end and screw it up!! Wish I was computer saavy.
Not too dumb to use smilies though :woohoo:

Just checked in at MM landand they are all already confused and trying to figure out what GL was saying...they think the forum is moving to the Mm website, which Diane already said cant happen as her publisher owns the site...I understood GL post to say Diane was starting a forum right on the lowcarfriends site...some of the newbies are already confused about whats going on...this is probably going to be a mess at first too, but I think we should all show up there and post from time to time so they dont get suspicious and wonder where we went! LOL, besides, there is definitely some folks there and info there we would want to keep up with! I dont want to LEAVE there, just want us to have here for ourselves and not share unless we all agree! LOL:eeyore: hee hee Eeyore is the closest I could get to a pony!!!!

Let's just be verrrry careful who comes over. We don't want no stinkin spys.

what is Erythritol? Or should I say what type of sweetener?

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that Diane has cleared as ok for us to use. It's one of the ingrediants in Truvia. The other ingrediant in Truvia is Stevia, the natural herb that tastes sweet.

Hey guys, I'm here! Thanks Robin for the email. Helped a lot! Now for some reading. YAAAA:goodvibes

Thanks Bev for doing this for us. I appreciate it. Hey, look at all the icons ---->
:woohoo:

And this is for all of us :grouphug:
I'm in icon heaven LOL

Kathy, good to see you. We love our huge plethora of smilies!

Thank you so much. I have come to realize that it is now up to the DA and utimately God. I can't tell you all how much I truly appreciate you all. There aren't enough words to express my gratitude.
From the bottom of my heart, I humbly thank you all.

:love2:

I feel comfortable here too. What we don't want is to end up where someone else feels like they have to make rules for us.

Absolutely. If we went there, we'd have someone wanting to tell us what to do and what not to do. Here is perfect.

NO!!! Lets not leave here!!! ITs NICE here!!! We can just post there too, like we were planning on continuing to post on the old thread....we can post there more generically and then come here for more emotional and "sista" stuff! And TOM!!

That's what we need to do. Pop in over there to comment here and there but stay here for the real deal!

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

This was me, Mike and Zac while watching a good movie on TV!!!!:happytv: Now we watch movies without eating!:dance3:

I WILL use all the smilies:thumbsup2

Hi Natalie! Aren't we easily entertained. I've looked at all the smilies at least times. One of these days I'll get to use the laundry one :woohoo:

I don't want anyone to come and spoil what we all have here either. This means too much to me. It's my lifeline at times. Ok, all the time.

Thanks for the info on the sweetener too

I'm sneaking away from date night to say good night and to report that our dinner was very nice and no way did we eat any dessert, Kathy! Zap! My best friend's daughter waited on us at Macaroni Grill and we had a dish with whole wheat penne. She thought we didn't like our dinner because we left so much pasta, lol! We're stuffed anyway. Isn't that weird? It was nice to get out - we've been working a lot this past week. I hope you all have a good sleep and middle of the night snack:banana:
Hugs,
Lisa

Today something happened that scared me a little. I was waiting in the car for a while so I put my seat back a little and was resting with all the windows down. Something made me look up and behind me and there was a man beside a car about 10-15 feet away staring at me. I gave him a strong look back and he looked like he got caught doing something and he got in his car. I closed the windows up, made sure the locks where on and put on the air. He drove away about two minutes after I was sitting up with the car closed. I think he was some kind of creep. I'm not sure why it was the way he was looking and the reaction. I was thinking it wasn't going to bother me but it still is. There's so much more crime here than there was in northern maine. It was in a nursing home parking lot during the day though so I thought it was a safe place. I know that even fat women can be attacked because it isn't about looks. Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm telling all of you except it's still bothering me.
