Geriatric MM Warriors!

Hello all!

Wow, now Diane is setting up a forum. Of course, It looks like GL has appointed herself thread queen again. I am afraid it might end like the last ones.

Of course, we asked for new forums, and she is giving us that. I guess I feel bad that we won't use it after she sets it up for us.

Kathy - You and Carrie are in my prayers. I honestly don't understand the school's position in this.

Lisa, I hope you enjoyed your date night. DH and I are going out for our anniversary tomorrow night. A quick dinner at Bennigan's and then a local "haunted downtown" tour. We are hoping that it will quit raining. We have had almost non-stop rain for over a week.

Nell - glad it has cooled off a little for you tonight. It's a little too cool for me here tonight. I like it a little warmer than 45 degrees.

I need to go wash my work out clothes for tomorrow morning's Zumba Gold class. When I get this routine, then I need to add 2 more days of other exercise. Not sure what I'll do for that.

The kids and I had dinner with my mom at the Club my DH manages. We ate in the bar and I had my usual filet with sauteed mushrooms, and sauteed vegetables. I forgot to take a carb with me. I had a carb snack at 5:00, so I'll just wait until 10, have a snack and go to bed. I'm tired and ready to go now, so I'll just hand with you all for 2 hours. Lucky you!!

I'm always wondering if I'm eating enough or if I'm eating too much fat. The fat loss is such a different animal from weight loss. You can't measure it easily so I don't have a gauge to go by. I know the scale is still going up and down but never below 313 for the last two weeks and it's driving me bonkers. (Laura isn't here yet is she? :rotfl2:) I just keep reminding myself that nice and slow is a good thing. I've dropped weight quickly at times in the past by doing low carb diets and honestly this is so much different. I have a whole different level of committment with this too. I can see how it's doable and realistic. I've got a hope now that I don't remember having before. :)

I feel the difference too--I can LIVE this way. I have to look at it like that because its for the rest of my life. If I have a little extra fat here or there I don't freak, being too strict will cause me to forget this totally. (not with my carb levels though!)

Sorry to hear you had to go back to step 1. Robin had to go back too right? For the same reason?

Ramble all you want! :thumbsup2 It's fine. You do need to eat though. If your health is poor you can't be any help to anyone. Maybe you could toast the bread and put peanut butter on it and then eat it in little tiny bites with some tea. That will go down easier and not be so hard on your stomach.

It's amazing, the decaf and me have become friends. I sometimes put one spoon of regular in with the decaf coffee, but I've noticed now that it makes me clench my jaw and my stomach tighten up when I do it. Not like being anxious about something, but like it causes a non emotional anxiety. I'm not sure if there's a word for that I'm not remembering. I frequently put a spoon of baking cocoa in my decaf. Even though cocoa has caffeine in it, it does not seem to have the same effect on me. There must be something that countereffects the caffeine in the cocoa. I think whole foods tend to balance the body most of the time unless you separate ingrediants. God does a much better job of putting food together than we do I think!

I'm not getting this. It was 75 degrees a while ago now it's 79. It's going the wrong direction! :scared1: Well, back to my sewing! I feel so free tonight. Like I put down a heavy weight. :woohoo:

I'm so glad the decaf is working out well. Maybe the regular coffee has more caffeine in it than the cocoa. It's hard to tell. I know certain things I eat, my heart will go a 100 miles an hour. It's really weird. And other times it seems like it skips a beat or two. That's mostly when I'm laying down resting. But I was checked for sleep apnea and they said everything is ok. Could be just stress also.
I hope it cools down a bit for you. I don't know if I could live in FL or anywhere that doesn't have seasons. I enjoy spring and fall too much. It is just so pretty.
I think I've found my new happy place. It's here with all of you!!:cheer2:

I am so glad to see that so many have found us over here.

I am going to try to keep track.

Did I miss anyone?

Oh my, my DD10 is practicing her Sax. She has had about 3 lessons, and you can tell. I send her down the hall, but it sounds like she is right next to me. I think I will hear Mary Had a Little Lamb in my sleep.:rolleyes1

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

This was me, Mike and Zac while watching a good movie on TV!!!!:happytv: Now we watch movies without eating!:dance3:

I WILL use all the smilies:thumbsup2

Ok guys, need help planning my Sunday. We will be going to visit Mike's son at rehab. This is the dreaded "family" meeting I'm dreading. But I need help figuring out what to pack for my trip.
It will be a 2 hour trip one way. And probably an hour visit. We will be leaving the house around 10:30 or 11 as the meeting is at 1:30. Figure an hour for the meeting, then home.
I will eat breakfast around 8 or 8:30 with a 5x5 probably. Will a mozzy stick and some cashews work for me about 1/2 hour before the meeting? I will pack a few extra in case I'm more hungry than I plan. I know we will stop to eat somewhere, so I will probably just eat a chicken salad or something to that effect.
Does this sound like a game plan?
Also, can we have agave nectar? I picked some up for baking. I heard it cooks better than splenda/stevia, etc.

my son plays alto sax--cover your ears!! :rotfl:

Natalie - how will you use this one? :3dglasses Unless you want to talk about the new 3D movies out for the kids.

:laundy: This one is easy in my life.

 I don't want to see this one from anyone.

:firefight This one is not good unless someone is employed by the Fire Dept.

:love1: This is us with Tom

:cake: This one is not allowed.

Any others you want to use?

Kathy are you on Step 1?

If so, you leave at 10:30 to arrive at 12:30. I would plan to eat my lunch before going in for the meeting. That should be easy enough since you are driving and can take a cooler. You need to find something easy for you to eat. Maybe meat and cheese roll-ups or a small salad. Then, you can eat a 5x5 when you come out. I'd bring some cheese and nuts for snacks when you need them.

Ok Bev and Natale, this is the icon police. You can only use 4 icons per post....
Wait, no, this is paradise! You can use all of them you want. I just love all the different ones. In case you didn't notice, if you click on the more button on the
bottom left under the angel icon, a little box pops up. At the very end are the pound icons. Lookie:
:wishten :wishtwenty :wishthirty

There is a bunch of them!! :yay::cool1::dogdance:(this is tyson dancing LOL)

So does Amelia!

The people I clean for, their son does alto sax, baratone, drums, guitars. When he's home while I'm at work, I do wear ear plugs!! But he's a really good kid. Spoiled by rich parents, but a good kid. Just wish the drums weren't so loud LOL.
I do love to hear sax. I love to listen to Kenny G play. I have a cd of his that is all Christmas music. It is so relaxing.

You guys are cracking me up...Bev with the smilies! I cant wait to get home and have my time to myself so I can relax and check this all out. I also just heard from Sueann, so she has the information to get here too...YAY! I do hope we hear from Abby!

One thing my feeble mind needs besides the list of who is here, is what step everybody is on!! OMG I cant remember at all...I know Lisa and Barb are on step 2, and I think Kate is too now....

Natalie - dont forget to put Kate on that list! And hopefully we will see Pam (simpleone), Sueann, Cheryl, Sunnee soon too! They all have the info on how to get here and said they were on the way!

Kathy - I LOVE Tyson dancing!!! We are going to love it here!!

I have to e-mail Diane tonite with my week of step 1 rerun menus and sugar readings, plus asking about the great pumpkin debate and the use of black soybeans for somebody (forgot who), so I plan to ask her about the new forum she is planning...will be interesting to hear from her in her own words and not Georgias! I know that Georgia has been e-mailing her and probably got that thing rolling...I just dont want to be under the admin rules or GL's new dictatorship!!!

I have to agree with you also. I like the way I don't feel as though someone is looking over my shoulder. I feel as though I'm sitting here in my living room with all of you just chatting. It's so natural and relaxed. I hope your BS numbers are getting better. I try to keep an eye on mine as it runs really bad on my mom's side. She had 5 brothers and they all either did shots or pills as well as my grandma. Mom and grandpa were the only ones who didn't. I did take a fasting (8 hour) test the other morning and it was 111. It is usually in the high 90's. I am pretty concerned about it to be honest. I bought an at home tester to keep an eye on it. A few times my fasting BS was around 50. But I have eaten carbs in excess a few times, and took it a couple hours later and it was about 125. I'm thinking those aren't too bad numbers.
Be careful going home. I know you'll be speeding so you can come here and try the smilies and all the fun stuff out. LOL

Just checked in at MM landand they are all already confused and trying to figure out what GL was saying...they think the forum is moving to the Mm website, which Diane already said cant happen as her publisher owns the site...I understood GL post to say Diane was starting a forum right on the lowcarfriends site...some of the newbies are already confused about whats going on...this is probably going to be a mess at first too, but I think we should all show up there and post from time to time so they dont get suspicious and wonder where we went! LOL, besides, there is definitely some folks there and info there we would want to keep up with! I dont want to LEAVE there, just want us to have here for ourselves and not share unless we all agree! LOL:eeyore: hee hee Eeyore is the closest I could get to a pony!!!!

I agree with you Robin. I do go over once in a while. I'll post here and there. I just tell them I'm pretty busy. Well, I am, but not THAT busy ;)
Where did you find eeyore? I have been looking all over for him! Carrie has all kinds of eeyore stuff. She used to collect him.

Boy are you ladies hard to find. Thank you Lisa for the email. I've been completely consumed with work so I haven't heard all the news from what happened. I will need to catch up!!
