Diane: Any word on the job yet! Fingers and toes crossed for you!

Hi Lisa - Nothing yet. I contacted her on Friday and it was a 3 day weekend, so.... I'm hoping they talk about it today. I don't want to get too worked up about it. Yet it's hard to do because I want it so much. Last time I was SO SURE that I had it and when I didn't get it I was so, so, so disappointed. The head of HR said in her last email to me in Nov. that I was their second choice and it was a very difficult decision. She said she would contact me personally if anything else came up and I was still available and still interested. Why didn't she contact me? I really can understand her not remembering, but I don't understand why the 4 other people in the dept. that I interviewed with didn't remember about me. It's only been 3 months. I really am curious as to what happened to the person they gave the job to.
Lisa - this sounds like a wonderful trip! I will keep my fingers crossed for J-P being able to join you. What happens to Bonnie? Brad and I are talking about taking a road trip this summer (which means that Halle can come). Zion, Bryce, Monument Valley, etc. Of course, we may reconsider when we realize how hot it will be in all of those places? It is fun to talk about though.... Brad has to go to LA in April for 4 days - a managers meeting for Ross. I might go down at the end and spend a weekend. What he really wants to do is jump on one of those four day cruises down to Cabo San Lucas. He loves cruises. I am a little skeptical because it doesn't really go anywhere that I want to go. He says it doesn't matter - he loves the cruise ship and doesn't care about the destination? I have never been on a cruise.... We will see????
J-P got his free ticket today by trading in the reward he earned for giving up his seat at ThanksgivingWe'll arrive just about 30 minutes apart in Tucson. We're really excited so I don't think he'll let his work interfere now that he has a ticket. Yippee! We got this Casita that is named after Tracy/Hepburn. They may have stayed there?? This resort has been around for a long time. The cacti all bloom at that time of year and it's around 80 degrees. I can't wait! We haven't been to Arizona since J-P was 8, but it was a week to remember back then. We did a road trip out of Phoenix to all the natural wonders.
LisaI am so happy for you! And your family!
Thanks, Nell! Our time together is pretty rare these days.
How are you feeling today? Better, I hope! Love you!![]()
Kathy - I just saw a commercial for World News Tonight (6:30 pm here) with Diane Sawyer - they are doing a piece on 'tough love' for families dealing with addiction. I think your husband should go to Al-Anon - isn't that the one for the family members of addicts? They talk about how not to be enablers.
Kate: Bonnie goes to a cage-less kennel that is really a big farm for dogs to run around and be silly. They love her there. Its called Aunt Cynthias Bed and Biscuit Inn and its in Loomis not far from the freeway, in case you ever vacation in this direction. You have to go there for about a 30-minute interview to see if your dog socializes well with the other dogs. They have some they separate like the really big ones from the really little ones, but Bonnie falls right in the middle and runs around with Labs, etc. She made best friends with a puppy her first time there and they held opposite ends of a rope toy full time out in the play yard, much like best friends on the playground at recess holding hands! Wish I could have seen that! Aunt Cynthia always takes a snap shot of your dog playing for you to keep. Its a bit pricier than a kennel, but Bonnie gets plenty of exercise and thats important for a dog like her. We take a lot of beach vacations because of Bonnie. Its traumatic for Tom to leave her, but Aunt Cynthias is the only place she doesnt give us a backward glance! Again, like a kid wanting to go to school and play, lol! In the summer, they have kiddie pools for the dogs.
Weve been on several cruises. I used to win a trip every year in my other profession. They are really awesome; youll love it. Western Mexico isnt our favorite, but its a good way for you to test it out. We had a very bad experience with a snorkeling ship in Cabo so we dont trust them. The cruise itself is very romantic, though. We usually find out what beaches the locals love and we take our own taxi rather than sign up for excursions the ship books for you. They cost more, you are not in control and you dont get the real experience. Just a tip.
I cant imagine whats keeping Robin off the site! Hope she gets it straightened out soon!
We put Halle in a kennel last summer when we went to Tahoe for a week. It was so traumatic for me. I kept picturing them taking her off to her "run" and it made me want to cry every time I thought about her. Several weeks later we went to Santa Cruz for a week and I paid someone to stay at our house.
Hmmmmm..... What was your other profession? For some reason, I thought you had been in real estate for years Maybe you said your family had been in real estate for years? Thanks for the cruise tips. The funny thing about Brad is that he doesn't even want to get off the ship! So it doesn't really matter to him where we go. I can't imagine not getting off! He isn't big on traveling. One of my favorite places in the world is Paris. He says that the only way he would ever go to Paris was if it could be a day trip. I think that the only way that I could him to Europe would be if we were going to go on a cruise. Which I could do!
