Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

Good to see you Kate! LOL, I had just told myself if you didnt show up here by tomorrow I was coming to get you!! Thats awful about your friends...we have offices in Texas that have been closed for like 4 days, they say the ice is just making a mess out of everything. Praying your friends get to Alabama safely! sounds like I am not the only one working insane hours...Diane keeps telling me I need to get more sleep, but when? :confused3

Diane - that is awesome that you love the gym! Our treadmills have the interval thing too, so as soon as I can get out of this snowbound castle, I think I will give that a shot...sounds interesting...I actually get bored now on the treadmill, so this will help in more ways than one!

Lisa - that warranty sounds amazing! I wish I had a way to get something like that for my home...its coming up on 4 years old in May, so you KNOW things are going to start breaking at some point! Ran into the guy who put my septic in at the store, and asked him when I should get it pumped out...he burst out laughing and said, with just you there? Try in about 10 years!! Seems I have a very large tank...oh well, just thought I would be proactive and not wait til it backed up...guess that one can wait awhile longer! Have already had the darn washer repair, plus have already put 2 thermostat things in the hot water heater...luckily the plumber is a SAINT and didnt charge me for the last one...they just do NOT make things like they used to...hmmmm maybe I should have gotten the toaster warranty after all! :rotfl:

Well, its officially past the 14 inches mark, but finally slowed down to just a few flakes...it is definitely beautiful, but getting to the ponies is like a weeks worth of working out! They are too cute with tiny icicles haning off their eyelashes and muzzles...the barn cat is definitely not happy about being confined inside the barn though...too much snow for her to get out, and no "mouse hunts" for her today!

Made some yummy soup with both broccoli and spinach and some nice cheddar cheese, blending it in the blender definitely helps the consistency! Off to make a muffin to have with it for supper...might try something savory this time

Robin: I wish I could recoop with you so I'd have a reason to stay in during the snow and have lovely soup. I'm waiting for the X Games Snowboard Big Air competition to start after overtime with this Kansas ballgame. Travis Rice is defending his gold medal. He's the guy J-P just finished a website for. J-P leaves for Travis' lodge on Monday to meet him in person for the first time. He'll work for him at his office during the week and also get in some snowboarding. I wish I could be a fly on the wall and watch them, but I'd be more like a fly in the ointment, I'm sure, lol! Bonnie is bored to tears. Her Daddy had to work today. I cleaned some drawers out and stored some make up in ziplock bags to cut down on dust. That's my big accomplishment for today. I can't wait to get back on my treadmill.

Hey all!

Things have been quite busy here in my world. Amelia lived through her suspension and is almost finished with her grounding. She has actually made out pretty easily.

We had her big trampoline party in St. Louis today. I did plan a cheat and have a piece of pizza and a piece of cake. I thought what the heck, I have 5hours, but it was exactly 5 hours later that we ate dinner, so I had a salad and an apple. Oh well, I can't even get a good cheat going when I plan to!:rotfl2:

I am glad that Lisa is feeling better, sorry that Kathy is feeling worse, and hope that everyone else is doing okay.

I was busy this week painting my living room. I spent Saturday washing down walls and woodwork and picking up everything and boxing up all the knick-knacks so the furniture could be moved. Sunday was spent cleaning the house for Amelia's family dinner on Sunday night, and blue taping the woodwork for the painting to begin. Monday and Tuesday were spent painting the walls. I have done some touch up work this week, but will be working on "striping" the south wall this Monday. I will have to blue tape every 12" and then polyurethane (sp?) every other stripe.

Nell, I am glad you found a new house that will do well for you at Marti.

Kathy - I am sorry that your SD has had you running. It sounds like she enjoys the attention she gets from being sick.

Carol - I am hopeful that this new counselor will be able to help you and your DH.

Natalie - glad to see you back!

Kate - sounds like you are very busy at work. We have been keeping busy with a big local murder case. It is a big mess and I will be intrigued to see howit ends up. I would love to go see the big boss in action on this one, but it's out of town, so I'll just have to read it in the papers I guess.

Robin - you sound like me kids hoping for a snow day. Now you have to suffer through the trudging back and forth.

Diane - I love me some Johnny Depp too. I really enjoyed Finding Neverland when I watched it. However the crying could have been difficult on a treadmill.

Hi Pam! I hope you enjoyed the birthday party!

Cindy - thanks for the Bible verses. It's nice to hear the Word!

Hi Jocelyn - I have pretty much given up all diet soda also. I think I have had 2 or 3 in the last month. It helps me get in all my water though (Just in case Laura is checking up on us).

Well, it's off to bed for me.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. Sorry if I did, it's not intentional!

Hi, Beverly! I was wondering how Amelia was faring just today. I'm glad her punishment is almost over. It's so traumatic - when you are a kid, you think the world is ending when you make a mistake. I'm glad you got to enjoy her party together.

Poor Travis Rice wiped out trying to land a new trick and ran out of time to try again so he didn't make it to the finals. At least he wasn't hurt. He was snowboarder of the year this year so at least he's had a good year. John-Paul is trying to go snowboarding or bike riding every day until he gets to Travis' in order to get his legs in shape, LOL! Perhaps he should have started more than a week in advance.:rotfl:

Tom's on his way home but will probably have to leave again. Bonnie has been audibly crying all evening. At least there will be a brief reprieve from her depression. I have had to hold her and play with every toy she owns.

Nite, Nite everyone and Happy Sunday!

Good morning all. I hope you all had a restful night's sleep. I actually slept all night. Took my nyquil at 11 and slept pretty well until about 4. Then tossed and turned. Did fall back asleep and got up around 7. Feeling a bit better today. I guess 4 days of sleep will do that LOL.
Bev, glad your DD is almost done with her punishment and that you all enjoyed the party. Glad you enjoyed your pizza. Maybe the next cheat will be better LOL.
Lisa, I can only imagine how glad you are to have the insurance. It comes in very handy at times. Good job cleaning out your drawers. I can relate to not being able to sit down on the floor :( Although now I am at the point where I can, but just can't bend the knee completely. But I improvise a bit. Getting back up, that's another story LOL. Mike laughs at me when I try to get up as it is quite a sight LOL.
Robin, sorry about all the snow, but yipeee for no work!! We didn't get any of the storm. Bitter cold but sunny. It is sunny yet this morning. The temp. is a whole 2.5*!! Our high yesterday was only 15. That is our normal low!! It has been a very cold winter this year!!
Diane, sorry about your nephew. I have learnt first hand you need to let them take responsibility for what they do. I know it's hard, but that is the only way they will learn. I will keep your sister and family in my prayers. Glad you didn't get a lot of snow!! I guess your as cold as we are here. Really stinks. I have to laugh at Tyson. He goes out and does his business and straight back to the house he goes! Can't say I blame him at all LOL.
Off to check my emails. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. Still not 100% and my brain isn't working quite right yet LOL.
I'll try to check back later.
:grouphug:

Kathy - Tyson sounds like a very smart doggie. It's freezing out there! This morning it's 14* here.
Beverly - The movie was so good. The area is dark like a movie theater so my tears went unseen by everyone else. ;) I just dabbed my eyes with my sleeve.
Robin - Enjoy the snow. Frozen ponies must look adorable!
Lisa - I hope JP enjoys his snowboarding trip. It's cool that he can go with a star in the sport.
I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

I am still loving the gym. Yesterday morning I went and did 1/2 hr. bike and 1/2 hr. treadmill. In the afternoon I went back and did 1/2 hr. bike and went to the 'cardio theater' which was playing Finding Neverland with Johnny Depp. I got there right at the beginning and stayed on the treadmill for the whole movie! I like Johnny Dep]

Diane! I am so proud of you and so impressed! You are an inspiration!

Lisa - I got home last night, got in bed and turned on the X Games. I was just in time to see Travis Rice make two runs and then promptly fell asleep! You will have to fill me in!

Kathy- I thought of you yesterday when we were at the beach. Halle was playing with the cutest boxer!

We'll have to meet at the beach sometime, Kate! Bonnie loves the beach. On her first trip to the coast she wouldn't go potty all day no matter where we stopped or how much we coaxed. We were afraid we'd have to take her to a doctor! We arrived in Fort Bragg and took her to the beach. Playing in the surf relaxed her and she 'went'. We acted like parents whos child had just taken its first step! That whole trip we had to plan our evening to stop off at a beach before we went to bed. We had to go to the beach first thing in the morning, too! Seriously! Thank goodness she's over that now - most of the time! But the beach works for her every time, LOL!:lmao: I did find one of my Japanese glass fishing floats on the beach after a storm. If it weren't for Bonnie, we'd never have pulled on our rain gear and gone to the beach. Happy accident.

Diane: I love, love, love Johnny Depp! pirate: And I love Peter Pan so you know how much I loved Finding Neverland. What a wonderful film! I'm so inspired by your gym workouts. You go, girl!

Lisa and Kate, I think that is is awesome that you guys are close enough to meet on the beach!

Thank you for the good luck wishes. I've been over reading my online textbooks and harvesting Farmville crops as needed, lol. I can't wait until we get moved so that I can settle down and work on assignments without a ruckus!

I love listening to you guys (girls) even if I'm too tired to answer you all. I figured I better open my mouth so you know I'm still here.

Had a cheat last night. Pizza. Not a whole lot. It's been hard to cook with stuff in transit. That isn't an excuse, I know. I think it's more of my being lazy or not being able to find the energy to coordinate eating correctly and on time. And there is Little Caesars (pretty bad pizza anyway) down the street with their four buck already ready special, lol. I think I'm going to try and pick up low sodium lunchmeat, cheese and that pepperidge farm skinny bread. At least I can stay on plan that way even if I can't cook. It messes with my vegetable commitment though. If it's for this week, it will be ok.

Well, love all of you! :grouphug: Please have a blessed day!

Nell: Are you moving this weekend?? Wow! Pizza and/or KY fried chicken reminds me of a tired day after fishing with my Dad or moving day, for sure! I wish we could help you get settled. Take care and don't overdo. Enjoy your new home!

No, all week! That's why I'm going to have to be careful to pick up a healthy fast food. And you do help me get settled. Every time I come and read your loving words and hear how we are all working together to overcome this. Now, if I could shift you off some of this homework, I'm more than willing to send it on over! :rotfl:

Well, there must be something about the dogs and the beach. I generally have to carry a couple of bags.... Halle has a tendency to drink too much salt water while chasing sticks and then throws up. Which she did yesterday in the back seat (thank goodness the seats are leather) on the way home. By the time we got home after several stops, I forgot about it. When we left this morning to go run errands, Brad asked me what she was eating on the seat? I laughed and said "you don't want to know!"

What he doesn't know won't hurt him! I love leather. Once had a kid throw up pink candy all over my seats. Now, you and I have our fur kids making big messes!

Kate and Lisa - chuckling here about the puking in the car...my Dad was one of those people who would throw up if the dog did! Nothing like making the mess worse! Mom says she NEVER let him near us if we were sick!

Nell - moving is the WORST!!! I dread ever moving again...definitely get yourself some easy to grab legal stuff or who knows WHAT you will be tempted to eat! For some reason, when you are tired and busy, Mickey D's sounds GOOD....YUK! Im sure you will be back on track with your veggie committment as soon as you can get settled in...what ended up happening with your landlord? Was he cool about you leaving? Hope so!

Diane - when you said frozen ponies I had a quick vision of them on sticks...like Ponysicles!! OMG the snow is affecting my brain!!

Have been feeding the HECK out of our birds...filled the seed dishes on the front porch 3 times today! The resident cardinal families, pair of woodpeckers, and 5 families of little juncos had to make way for a marauding band of blue jays who dropped in for a snack...the cardinals look so gorgeous against all the white snow...wish I could get some close up pictures of them and the woodpecker pair...so fun to watch them!

Robin: Love bird watching! You should take some pictures.

I'm realizing how impossible it will be to spot my sister and BIL at the Grammy's. Are you kidding me? But she will expect me to try, LOL!:happytv:

Good evening everyone. Feeling a lot better this evening. Took a nice 2 1/2 hour nap today. Did the neti pot also. Won't discuss what came out. I will do it again before bed and using my allergy nasal spray. I am going to take my allergy medicine tonight and no nyquil. That stuff knocks me out for sure!!
Kate and Lisa, I would love to take Tyson to the beach. We are planning on it when Mike gets back to work and gets a vacation. I just have to be careful if he goes in the water. He can't swim worth a crap and is top heavy. His head goes under and his butt comes to the top! Mike had to save him once or twice LOL. I honestly will have to get him a life vest. We are now in the process of getting him a saddle bag to wear so he can carry his own water and poop bags and such.
Sorry this is short, but a good show is on HBO. It is called Band of Brothers. It is about World War 2. It is a very good series. We get 6 months of free HBO, Showtime, and a couple others when we got the Dish Satellite.
Then off to bed.
Have a great night everyone!!
:grouphug:

Howdy Ladies!

Kate, your story of your friends travels brought back some bad memories. Three of the last four times we traveled through OK and TX, we drove in ice storms. My husband determined we'd be fine (and we were) while I was half sick with worry for our lives! When we head south during the winter months now we avoid OK all together. I hope they arrive safely, have you heard from them?

I've checked in with my parents in southern KY a couple of times and they seemed to have only gotten just over six inches and are actually enjoying it. lol My mother was all excited and kept saying, "Oh the mountains are just beautiful, wish you could see it.."...okay won't be worrying about them anymore!

Robin, I hope you're having a super relaxing weekend off and that everything is okay for you over yonder!

The party went off without a hitch. We did pizza and salad and of course ice cream and cake. She does such a good job and they taste so darn good. She's and her DH have two boys so she took the time to make herself a very girlie looking pink, four layered one. It was fun just having us all together.

Lisa, make up does make such a mess! And lets talk about hair spray! Me with three daughters, heavens, I could write a book! lol We have four bathrooms and when they were all at home it worked me half to death trying to keep them clean until I got smart and confined it all to just one bathroom. Keep taking good care of yourself, you'll be up and in the grove again before you know it. I've been meaning to ask you this for the longest time...what does Tom do that takes him away from home so much? I'm sure you've said before but I've managed to miss it I guess?
I can't wait to hear what JP has to say about the X Games.

Diane, don't you just love how going to the gym makes you feel? Sounds like you're doing wonderfully..you go!

Kathy, you feeling any better yet?

Nell, moving, that was fast! lol Did it end up that your landlord was understanding about it? I sure hope so! I too would be right there to help if I could. I love setting up house for some odd reason, never have figured that one out! lol It sounds like you're taking your time, good idea, I hope all goes smoothly!

After everyone left this morning I and DH went shopping. I've decided that tomorrow begins Step I for me once again. I did so well the first go round. It just keeps going through my head that if I can just be that successful one more time I'll be right at my goal weight and even if I have to live on Step II, I'll be thrilled. I've set up my formal living room for my workouts, I'm stoked and stocked with good foods and ready to give it another go...wish me luck.
