Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

Good morning. Well, it's official. I'm sick. Woke up with a sore throat, sneezing, and a huge stuffy head accompanied with a headache. At least I have my check up today at the doctor.
Melanie so good to see you. I have slowly been reading the Dr's book and I did slack off the D-Ribose. Lesson learnt ;) I am back on it, but only 1 tsp 3 times a day right now. My health food store was out of the big bottle and I refuse to buy a bunch of the smaller ones that end up costing much, much more than the bigger bottle will. I was thinking of trying the Energy formula, so I may have to order it now. I am glad you're feeling better.
Nell, good seeing you too. It's so nice when you find your soul sister. I actually have a couple of them. The one, I don't get to talk to much, but when we do call, it's like we talked just yesterday. It was so weird the way we met. She and I both worked at Lowes, and I was going on vacation. I didn't really know her as she was in a different department than me. Anyway, I needed someone to deposit my paycheck into my bank while we were gone. We had gone to CO to visit my sister for 2 weeks. I walked right up to her and asked her if she would do it for me. She said she would, I handed her a deposit slip for my bank, and the rest is history/ As I look back on it, seemed kind of stupid on my part. She could have forged my name and just cashed that check instead. I didn't even know her for heaven's sake! God will make you do things that we think are absolutely insane!! She is such a trust worthy kind person.
Ok, enough rambling for now. I'll catch up with you all later.
Hugs and Love to all of you!!:grouphug:

Oh Kathy! I'm so sorry you've come down with something. Please rest and sip on warm tea and broth if you have some all day.

Good find, Nell! Kashi is nationally stocked so hopefully we can all find those crackers.

Your new friends are a living example of the adage that you reap what you sew! It was on my vision board for this past year to develop a strong circle of friends. I was concentrating on women friends and look what I got in all of you!

Happy studying, Grasshopper! (Are you old enough to know what that means??)

The crackers are in a white box. They are called "Kashi" TLC, and the box says 7 whole grains, no trans fats etc. It's about the size of the box that wheat thins come in, not a great big box.

I have heard that saying my entire life Lisa, but don't remember where it comes from.

It's true that a circle of friends is so incredibly important. Women friends can connect on a level that fills a need other types of relationships can't. A lot of times competition keeps that from happening and people find it hard to trust.

I don't know if anyone listens to the Joyce Meyers broadcast online, but the last 3 days have been about taking offense, and how that can really mess us up and keep us from growing. I was sleepless last night and watched the last three, lol. Here's the link if anyone wants an uplift.

http://www.joycemeyer.org/ourministries/broadcast/

The best ones for me were don't take offense part 1 and don't take offense part 2.

I wish someone would try equally as hard to remove ads of a personal nature. I'm frankly sick of hearing all about people's periods and sex lives. I don't even think they had underwear ads when I was a kid, lol!

:rotfl: Can we say "erectile dysfunction" ! I'm so sick of seeing the ads with the couple sitting in separate bathtubs. What is that supposed to mean?!

Yay, Barb. I'm so glad you're getting to do your aquarobics again. :yay: Not yay about the cut in hours. I hope things will go okay financially without those added hours.

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Thanks Carol. The cut in hours will mean no shopping and watching the food budget closer but I will really enjoy having the luxury of free time to do "good for me activities"

Nell: I have a feeling that saying comes from the Bible. If not those exact words. I have a study Bible so I can look it up for us. They are very true, with the added slant that truly you probably reap 10 times what you sew, good or bad. I am proud that my son has taken those words to heart.

The 'down' real estate market came along at the same time Tom was sick, etc. It did give me time to take care of him and myself, even though we could have used the money. I think we got a lot more value out of the time than the money. Good for you for staying busy with 'good for you' activities.

Hi Gang! :wave2:

Good to see you Barb! Sorry about what's happening at work, but very happy to see you're going to take advantage for some "you time". I agree that a bi-weekly "cheat" won't hurt, especially if it keeps you on plan. Maybe I should try that route and see if it would help me tolerate Step One a little better.:confused3

I found the Kashi crackers today Nell, thanks for the tip! They will probably sit in my pantry for a while until I decide what the heck I'm going to do for a WOE. Looking for them took me into the organic/healthy food section of my store. When go there, I will spend at least an extra half an hour in the store just reading labels, I love doing that.

Anyone get to watch Oprah today? Lisa, I'm going to rent Food Inc. I wish we had a Whole Foods store here. I'll check with my eldest daughter and see if there's any in Indianapolis. Would it be worth the trip, maybe once a month, if there is? One thing they touched on that is so very true, eating well is expensive!! I spend more now than I did when most of the kids still lived at home.
I had to smile at you and Nell, I'm famous for telling the kids, not only the one about reaping what you soe, but the one about Karma, you get back exactly what you put out there, be it good or bad vibes. :goodvibes Good thoughts, kind acts, will always serve you well.

Kathy, sorry you're feeling under the weather. Take good care of yourself!

I'm still chuckling over the "erectile dysfunction" ad. We've never understood the bathtub thing either! ...talking about commercials, whatever happened to the California Cheese commercials with the talking cows? Those are my all time favorite!

Galatians 6:7-8 (New International Version)

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature[a]will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

You are definitely right Lisa - It's the bible alrighty :) Gotta love the word of God!!!

Thank you, Cindy! I knew I was spelling that wrong! Sow, yes. Doesn't it also say somewhere that you will be rewarded 10 times over for a good deed?

Pam: I am so glad you recommended Food, Inc. to the rest of the gang. It is not easy to watch in parts, but I believe so essential that we not close our eyes to what goes on in the food industry. Tom and I were especially moved about the part on farmers rights to their own seeds. If you care at all about the American farmer and way of life, let alone your health - rent this movie!!!! And watch it with your kids.:cheer2:

Basically it says that if we do good we will reap Eternity (a harvest). I'd say that's like tenfold!!

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Hey All, drama all over at work today with the shift bidding taking place! OMG, I am so not into everyone's personal drama! Except for ours here of course! LOL Looks like I will be working 12:30-9pm and one saturday a month starting the beginning of March! So that is a good thing for me!

Good to see you Barb, wondered where you were. Sorry about the hours getting cut, but it sounds likeyou will be making great use of the time!

Kathy - so sorry you are full blown sick...so many here at work are sick too, makes me want to walk around with a full face mask on! Take care, and I agree with Nell, stay hydrated and have some tea and broth...

Jocelyn - any idea if there are any legal recipes we can use with a breadmaker? a friend just gave me a new one she never used...didnt know if there was any legal way to use it...so Im going to you, our "Go-to" person for recipes!

Carol and the rest of you - tv ads are a sore spot with me too...hate sitting there with my 14 year old Godson when the ads for any of that personal stuff come on! He gets embarassed and Im just disgusted...

Pam - I love the cow ads too! I just saw one last night...chuckle every time!

Very nice! It is the perfect philosophy to live by. And some people take longer than others to learn so I think we should include them all in our embrace. I love you and appreciate you, Cindy!:cloud9:

Robin: I've been meaning to call my cable company and ask if we have to have shameful titiles in the TV guide section for channels we don't even subscribe to. They are very descriptive and disgusting. I think I'll call them right now!

I love and appreciate you too Lisa!! I love our group and even though I can't post, read every day, I think of everyone every day and say a little prayer for all of our MM peeps!!

Muah!

If you missed today's Oprah, please look for it online or see if you have a local channel that plays todays show tomorrow or later tonight. It is so critical to hear the information about food since we are all trying to become healthier. In my opinion, this will be of monumental importance as you go forward in your lives and in the lives of your families.:flower3:

Good morning everyone. Still feeling mighty crappy today so far. I had somewhat of a boo-boo last night. Mike made me some canned vege soup. It had small pasta in it along with potatoes and carrots. There was maybe 1/2 a bowl of it, so not too much harm done. I was so tired, I just ate whatever it was and laid back down. I will be sure to do better. As Nell suggested and have broth. I'll make it a point to mention it to him. He was such a dear though for trying ;) He thought vege soup was ok on MM.
Well, off to lay down before I have to take Carrie to school. Waiting for the advil to kick in, as I've got a heck of a sinus headache with this. Going to put my head over a bowl of hot water with a couple drops of peppermint oil in it. Always unclogs my stuffy nose. Then getting my sinus pack out of the freezer and use that too.
I am NOT sick, I am NOT sick...... LOL

Kathy: You poor baby! I'm so sorry you got this cold thing full blown. Sudafed can really help with congestion in the sinuses, too. We have found that fat free organic chicken broth or vegetable broth in the box you can easily pour is terrific heated up in a mug. You get all the satisfaction of soup on your throat. Also, you might want to stock up on some sugar free cough syrup in case it moves into your chest like mine did. Robatussin brand and generic ones too. We had to ask the pharmacist as they were on the bottom shelf. I pray you can get this turned around quickly and be healthy again. In the meantime, rest as much as you can.
