Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

Kathy - Oh my goodness! What a shock it must be for you and your friend's family. One week? I can't imagine what they must be going through. I will pray for all of you. God bless.

Thank you Diane. He has had heart problems for years, and actually had bypass surgery a couple years ago. I am still in disbelief. Getting ready to go to Walmart, then to the mall quickly. I have a pair of gray pants and black ones, but not sure of a shirt. I have a nice light lilac colored shirt, but it's sleeveless with a scoop neck. I woke up this morning to rain and cool temps, so I need a sort of wrap/jacket to wear with it. I saw one on sale at either Penny's or Bon Ton, so going to head there when they open at 9.

I'll be back in a couple days, as going to both viewings today and tomorrow is the funeral.
Have a good day everyone!! :grouphug:

Dear Kathy: I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's loss of her father-in-law. I'll be thinking of you as you provide comfort to their family. What a shock and strain on all of you! It's very sad.

Tom took me to dinner to thank me for doing his Mom's taxes. We finished with low carb cheesecake (split) a the Cheesecake Factory. 7 carbs each of us and it was quite good.

4 more days til a big ol' burrito in Tucson, LOL! I think I'll mostly eat the insides out, I promise!

Tom had a very bad fall on Easter, tripping over the dog's bone. He has the biggest bruise I've ever seen on his hip and behind his knee, plus a sprained ankle. We are a pair! We'll still have a great time, but I doubt there will be any horseback riding. Maybe J-P can find a friend at the resort to ride with?? I'll be gone til the 25th and really busy til we leave on Monday so I'll check in once in a while in the evenings! I hope you all have a terrific week! Love you!:grouphug:

Lisa - I hope Tom feels better. Have a wonderful trip! :cool1:

I have started a walk/run program. I really want to be a runner, but it's going to take a while. There were so many different beginners programs on the internet. I've chosen one that starts with walking 1 min. than running 1 min. for 17 min. not counting the warm-up/cool-down. I jog softly and slowly so I don't knock myself out too soon. So far, so good. Last night I had to do it at the gym on the treadmill because the day was too busy and I missed going to the track. I like it better at the track. Since it's all new to me, I'm not sure exactly why I didn't like running on the treadmill. I like walking on it!

Can I ask a favor of you all? When you read this can you say a short prayer that I find a great job soon? I am really getting scared and frustrated. I keep track of the jobs I send my resume to - I'm reaching the 100 mark and I've only had 2 interviews. At the end of this month it will be exactly one year of being unemployed. To add insult to injury, I owed taxes this year! My severance and unemployment had insufficient withholding. I have to catch a break soon! :guilty:

Robin - You are still in my prayers. I know this is a difficult time.

You got it Diane! I hope something surfaces for you soon.
We have a construction company and this past winter was the slowest time weve exprienced in 20 years. It was tough just thinking about cutting back on things. Things have finally picked back up, the one good thing about being a general contractor, folks always need to upkeep and maintain their homes!

Well I went to my doctor appointment on Wednesday, I dreaded it sooo much! All was well, I was only up four and a half pounds since my last visit! Lisa, you were so right, I was telling his nurse while she was weighing me, "I know I've gained back a few pounds, just warning ya!" She laughed and said, "You look fantastic, most would have gained it all back by now, the ole Doc is going to be so proud of ya."...and he was. All that worry for nuthin!

Lisa, I sent you a friend request on Facebook! Anyone else wanting to "friend me" just say the word!

Lisa I hope you have a wonderful vacation! I want a big ole'burrito in Tuson!:goodvibes lol It sounds like so much fun. We're set to return to Mexico in August, for the entire month, I can't wait.:woohoo:

The weather here has been so awesome! We're breaking records for heat left and right. I've managed to mow all five acres three times since Easter. Cold front and winds keeping me inside today, but I'm not complaining.

Cathy and Robin, I'm still thinkin of you both. Cathy I miss your daily posts! Robin we need pony stories! Come see us soon.

Good Morning ALL

Prayers coming your way Diane. I see where they are extending the unemployment, but don't know if that applies to you or not.

Lisa, have fun on your trip - I know you will.

It is cold here!!! We had to add a blanket to our bed! I did get a swim in on Monday and also got sunburned. I know better. The water was nice, but it was a bit cloudy and you can get a far worse burn through clouds than in straight sun and I KNOW that!:confused3 Just not too smart some days!

SImpleone - great news at the Doc's. See, they were proud of you.

Robin - if you are reading these posts please send one of us a note and let us know how you are doing. We feel so sorry for all you have been through. We love you:love:

I'm slowly getting the weight off from the cruise. I have until August to get down to where I really want to be and then start travelling again.

Hugs to ALL:grouphug:

Pam, Friend me again! I think I thought it was another realtor I didn't know. That happens so many times a week. I am so sorry, I think I deleted it!:confused3 Update: I found it so now we are FB friends! I'm so glad you had a successful doctor appt. Women can vary 4 lbs. in a day anyway! You're doing awesome!

Tomorrow is Tom's birthday. He had a great check up this week. Doc is loving his stats! I've been working so much - trying to clean and pack this weekend. I want the massage more than the burrito, lol! Kartchner Caverns has been on my vision board for about two years. It will come true on Wednesday! We're really excited to get there. I got Tom a new camera for his birthday so we can maybe take our Christmas card pic in Tucson. Love you all!

My son is 23 and this morning he called a friend to go to the diner for breakfast. His friend couldn't make it. I said 'you want to go to the diner?' He said 'with you?' and I said 'yes'. He said 'not really'. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I was sooooo hurt. I went into my room because I knew the tears were coming. He was leaving after about an hour to go to his father's new house. He knocked on my door and said 'can I come in?' I was still crying so I said 'no'. I am still upset by this. I bend over backwards for him every single day making his life easy and happy. HE CAN"T GO TO THE DINER WITH ME? When I saw him at 8 pm, he said 'are you still mad?'. I said 'I'm hurt and upset'. He said 'well, I didn't feel like going with my mom'. I said 'you're not 12.' He said 'I didn't want to go with dad either.' I said 'I don't care.' This is such a new thing, I'm in shock. His dad just bought a house and he is going to live there during the week. Right now, I'm glad. Thanks you guys for listening!

Diane: Our kids have the ability to crush our hearts like no one else, don't they? He was likely disappointed his friend couldn't go and feeling like it was a bad start to his birthday so he took it out on you. He wanted a friend to celebrate with. Not to excuse his behavior; just to point out it wasn't about how he feels about you. Wait one more year and see if you finally get what I got this year - an apology within minutes of my son saying something hurtful. He snapped at me for offering to check him in for his flight to WY. Admitted he thinks he should take care of everything himself and said he felt really stupid for talking to me like that when I was just trying to be helpful. Today he asked me to check him in for AZ, lol! Slow strides sometimes in building to adult relationships but oh so worth it when we get there! When you get a chance to talk to him about it, remind him that he'll need to learn how to treat a woman if he wants to be a good husband someday. Now go do something for yourself!

Thanks Lisa. You're right, they can crush us. It wasn't his birthday, I was just saying how old he was. Still, I can't get over it. I think I'm having a small nervous breakdown. It might be the work issue, him going to live with his father during the week, and this on top of it. When I woke up this morning he was gone already. I guess he went to his Dad's. I spend all day by myself in the house. I go out to the supermarket and have lunch once a week with my friends. I spend Saturday with my sister and Sundays with Vinnie. I need a job, not only for money, but for human contact!! I'm going to take half of a Xanax today to see if that helps. I have them for when I have a mammogram. The first time the doctor wrote a prescription for 5 and it cost full price, so last time he wrote a full presription.
I hope you all have a good day! I'm going to try to.

I hope you feel much better later today. If the weather is good try going out for a walk; it might cheer you up. Kids can be very self centered, even if they don't mean to. I bet if you could be inside his head, he's got his own insecurities and his remark wasn't meant to hurt you. Too bad we all can't watch a video a few minutes ahead of our actions. It would stop a lot of nonsense. A little distance between you will make him appreciate you all the more, too, which I think is so unfair really. Why can't they appreciate us while we're still under the same roof, lol!

I'm off to the office to finish up what I can before we fly out EARLY tomorrow. We're pretty much ready to go. Bonnie's on her way to Aunt Cynthia's farm to stay for the week so we get to be empty nesters again tongiht.

Lisa - He apologized tonight when he came home. He said he didn't mean anything by it. I said to say you didn't want to go with me was hurtful and rude. He said he was sorry and he didn't mean it that way. Soooo, we're on speaking terms again. I hope he learned something from it. I did get out today for a walk. Vinnie & I went to the garden center and picked out some perennials to fill in some that didn't make it through the winter. So it was a good day. Thank you so much for your encouraging words - they really do help!
I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing and fun vacation!! :cool1: Happy Birthday to Tom too!!

Hi Folks...thought I would stop in quickly and say hello...sorry to abandon you all, its just been so crazy...I have spent every waking moment with them since Dennis took such a bad turn the week before Easter, and in the past weeks of planning his service ( I did the eulogy) and fending off his incredibly obnoxious sisters who havent been around at all til the day before he died...then descended on Rick like piranas, wanting to take things from the house, etc. I almost had to kick some butt, I swear I was ready! Finally changed all the locks, told them all off, and now things are somewhat peaceful again...of course hard for Rick to settle into the "new normal" life without Dennis, so I am still spending mornings before work and evenings after with him, bless his heart. They have been together 20 years, so he is completely lost.

Sounds like everyone else has taken a vacation from here too...where the heck is everyone?

Diane -thanks so much for the card, you are too sweet and I really appreciated it...sorry things have been so tough for you...pack your bags and moved down here! Im serious too! The ponies will appreciate you, even if your son is having a moment...Hugs to you my friend!

Lisa - hope y'all have a good time, and Tom's bruise has subsided...

Jocelyn - glad you are back around, I missed you!

Pam - good to see you back too...friend me on FB!

Where is Bev, Kate, Barb, Kathy, everybody!!!!! I miss my MM's! Love you all

Hi everyone. Been sooo busy lately. All the people I work for are wanting their homes spring cleaned, so longer days of work. Add in Bailey and the walks, my days are long. I've been keeping up with the posts, just no time to respond.
I am feeling pretty good the last couple days. I had a few weeks where I felt like crap. Just wanted to sleep. I had caught a cold, and took me forever to recover from it. Still feeling a bit tired, but not as bad as it was.
I am still holding my own, but I really need to low carb once again. I need to get my brain around the thought that I need to eat this way for me and my health.
I think I am going to get Jorge Cruise's book and see what I can come up with between MM and him. I know there is a happy medium for me somewhere on low carb eating.

Diane, sorry your son hurt your feelings. I am glad he came to his senses and apologized. Kids!! Got to love them LOL. I hope you're having a good day today.

Lisa, I hope you're enjoying Tucson! I'd love to be there with you!!

Robin, so good to see you. I noticed on FB you posted about the service. I figured you were pretty busy with everything. I will continue to pray for Rick and for some peace for him. I can't imagine the lonliness and heartbreak he must be feeling. I am glad you stuck up for him. Relatives can be sooo nasty. Stop in when you can.

To everyone else, hope all is well. Missing you all.

:grouphug:

:wave2:Good morning everyone!!

Robin and Kathy, so good to see you both again! :grouphug: Robin, I'm sure Rick appreciates you so very very much and props to you gf for standing up to Dennis' family. I watched my mom's family become cut throats after my grandmother's passing, so I understand completely. They've both been blessed for knowing you, I hope you know this. God sent you to them and you completed your mission, you inturn will be blessed for it. I hope things settle down for you soon.

Diane, when I read your post about your son hurting your feelings, I actually shed a tear for you. My kids have done that to me so many times, I've lost count, but I don't let them get away with it! I come right back at them and demand they complete their thought along with an apology.:duck: No one around here is allowed to be rude ...except me! :rotfl: ...ask'em, they'll tell you as much! I agree with Lisa, however, my son (22) is not, nor do I expect that he will be, a good friend to me. I have his respect, and I think that's a miracle in itself. My girls on the other hand truly are my three best friends. They baby and coddle their brother enough without me needing to add to it. As adults they all still adore each other, which is most important to me.
Since he apologized, I'd be willing to bet he'll think twice about how he says things to you from now on. Very smart, letting him know he'd hurt your feelings. I hope you're having a better rest of your week!

Kathy, my experiment with tweaking my WOE fell completely flat!:upsidedow I hope you find your solution soon. My carb withdrawl is over and my natural energy has emerged once again..it did take longer this time to get over the feeling that I was half starving to death though. I'm down six pounds after restarting step I last week! It seems to be melting off me, like butta, once again.:goodvibes I'm still so curious as to why MM worked so well for some of us and not others,:confused3... when we're all so clearly Met B'ers. Don't work too hard and take good care of yourself!

Lisa, I don't know if you're checking in, if you are...eat a HUGE A$$ burrito for me! I hope you're having a most excellent adventure!

Workout time!! :yay: See y'all soon!:grouphug:

Hi everyone! It's good to see you all!?Thanks for the thoughts on my son's behavior. I never wanted a daughter, but I see my friends who have them now have such good friendships. I'm jealous. I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for a granddaughter (way into the future!).
Robin - I'm glad you stood up to Dennis' sisters. Death sometimes brings out the worst in people - it's amazing. They don't deal with the person during their life, but once they're gone they feel entitled to their possessions!! Bulls**t. I'm so happy you put them in their place, because Rick probably didn't have the strength to deal with them. You have been such a blessing to them both.

Pam - I'm glad the pounds are comin' off like butta! :) Are you from NY?

Lisa - Hope you're enjoying your vacation! :woohoo:

My niece had a baby girl yesterday. She wasn't due until May 10, but the baby is fine. 6 lbs. 2 oz. My niece had to have an emergency D&C last night - she was bleeding. Her son is 11 months old. She's going to have her hands full! She's a speech pathologist, but since she had her son she cut her days down to 2 or 3. Her husband is a state trooper and she works on his days off, so they don't have to pay for daycare. I was going to visit at the hospital today, but my sister said to wait until tomorrow. I'll give a call later, they may decide that a visit is okay. I hope so.

I have a brisket marinating in the fridge. I got the recipe from Pioneer Woman's website. Her recipe is for a 10 lb. Brisket! I bought a 2 pounder. It's sounds really good. I usually cook it in the crockpot with a sliced sweet onion and a whole bottle of bbq sauce. Talk about butta!!! I hope this recipe is good. It uses liquid smoke, which smells like bbq sauce. I never used it before, so we'll see......

Going to walk on the trails at the local environmental center. It's beautiful out! Talk to you later!
