Georgraphically challenged - need advice

Can anyone comment on the Edgeware and Stanmore areas? One property owner has offered apartments at these two locations.

I am overwhelmed by options. It's so hard to compare when many of the properties don't even have any kind of reviews that I can find online.

I just want a place that's clean, safe, and reasonably convenient to public transport that isn't terribly expensive.

Thanks,

Sheila

What road in Edgware are you looking at? The reason I ask is there is an Edgware near central London and then one also outside in Hertfordshire, not far from Stanmore. I would not want to be as far out as Hertforshire personally.

The Edgware Road goes from Edgware which is in the London borough of Barnet to Central London. Stanmore (which is Middlesex and in the London Borough of Harrow) and Edgware are very close to each other and are good areas with excellent tube links into Central London.

Whenever we go to Wembley for matches or concerts we drive to Stanmore park the car and use the tube.

This would be an excellent option as already explained the benefits of staying on the outskirts of London, leaving your mini van at the accommodation and taking public transport into London.

I know the areas well as I work for the Local Council and often have site visits here.

Edware itself is on the Northtern Line (black)tube and Stanmore is on the jublilee line (grey)

If you look on the attached map you will see the tube stations at the end of the lines

This seems like a great option. Good luck.

Thanks for your continued help.

I've ask for the specific addresses and will post them here as soon as the landlord responds.

Does anyone know if university accommodation will be available then, or is it too early (I have no idea of university term times). That would be ideal if possible.

Sheila,

I have just checked the Travel Lodge website and they have a hotel in Battersea South London, which is quite handy for the West End and other parts of central London. A family room, max 4 people (3 adults and 1 child) is £70 per night per room for 23 to 29 June 2007.

Travel Lodge are budget hotels but usually have all mod cons (TV, ensuite, hair dryers, coffe making facility, maybe air con etc)

Why not checkout their website www.travellodge.co.uk. They have hotels in other parts of town for similar prices. If you have amap of London you will be able to work out roughly where the hotels are.

PM me if I can help anymore.

Linda

Thanks for the suggestion, Linda, and for looking that up. I've always heard that Travelodge is a good option and had checked their website a few times, but I haven't found a way to search all properties for a particular date. I can't find an easy way to compare prices without flipping through all the hotels. That always discourages me. I'll go there now.

Thanks again,

Sheila

Have you considered staying in Oxford instead of London. It's very close to visit London (and cheap) but then you have the benefit of visiting Oxford and the Cotswold - there are some great hotels nearby that wouldn't be too expensive.
