i don't really have anything to say, i just looked and saw about 10 John Kerry bashing threads, so i thought i would try to even it out.

It's getting pretty ridiculous isn't it. Perhaps no response is the best response of all!

I saw all the Kerry titled threads and figured as much. I haven't bothered to click. :p

I did click on this one, although as a rule I have decided to no longer do the DIS political discussion circuit. Curiosity got the best of me, glad to see some people are still taking the high road and have not given in to the bashing.

LOL. Good for you. And I'll go along with your not saying anything. Here's what I have to say:

LoL!

Shall we start a thread with Bush Lies? Or would we be stooping to their level.

The combination of George Bush and Caity Caity made me look. :p

I should have titled it: "THAT'S IT! i'm voting for GWB!" i wonder how many people would have looked at it then. :smooth:

I know we pro-Bush people might sound rabid at times, and I apologize for that, but it is only because we regard this as an extremely important issue.

Many of us are genuinely scared of a Kerry presidency. Bush is extremely unpopular, and because of that America will probably end up with a man who, by our reckoning, is simply unfit to lead the nation during time of war. We have concerns about Kerry that are not being addressed by the media, except when charges against him are half-heartedly refuted (as in last night's Nightline).

I'm not going to list all of our complaints (re-list, I should say), but suffice it to say that we have serious reservations about a former leader of the VVAW (VVAW!!!! These guys at best were radical leftists way off the political spectrum, and at worst they were terrorists) as commander-in-chief during war time.

That's my excuse: fear.

:rotfl:

I wonder who here would claim to have converted you with their "witty" posts.

Funkyzeit mit Bruno, substitute bush for kerry and i feel the exact same way.

the only thing i wonder about some of the "over the top" political posts here is what do people think they accomplish? i seriously doubt any of these posts on the dis are going to change someone's mind, but it seems like that is what most of them are aimed at.

LOL - you got me to look. I'll add my "no response" to the pile.... Carry on....

I can appreciate your standing behind the President, in your heart you believe him to be the best man for the job. What disturbs me about the political "discussion" here on the DIS is instead of being a place for open minded, spirited discussion on issues, it has become a Kerry/Democrat hating site where everyone wants just to talk about how awful they are. And its SO unfortunate that different or dissenting opinions are literally shouted down and this site has no other purpose than to find and harp on the negatives, as if the Bush administration is apparently infallible. Why does everything have to be so angry and polarized? The level of anger is such a turn off. I'm uncomfortable around it, and I know I'm not the only one. Its neither interesting nor informative, and it sure as heck isn't fun reading.

Ahhh, drew me in anyway. I'm glad its the weekend, where any political discussion I may be having will be with people who have the ability to discuss, not bash. Happy weekend, all. :)

It's not everyone, it's just a VERY OUTSPOKEN few who feel the need to go on and on until your eyes bleed. And this is coming from a Bush supporter. ;)

I know, MIss Jasmine. I stand corrected, its definately not everyone. One of my best friends from this board, Bet Snyder, is a Republican, and I have an enormous amount of respect for her and her viewpoint. She and I can discuss politics without ever getting our hackles up; and there are many more like her here. Its just that those select few have just sort of taken over........ :(

I know Snoopy. Rational debate has gone out the window. :(

Right back at ya, snoop.

I agree with your post and I, too, got sucked oops, I mean drawn into this by Funkyzeit's post. I just don't understand how you, Funky, think you're the only one frightened by the other candidate winning. I, too, am horrified at the thought of Bush winning, to be frank. If he wins, will I support him. Yes, I will. Will I support the war? Nope. Will I allow my son, if necessary, to participate in the war. Not if I can help it. Call me unpatriotic but I will not let my son fight in a war in which I disagree wholeheartedly with. That is what horrifies me. When Bush won this last election, I can remember being in utter shock and denial (especially with the way it went down) and I can honestly say it was one of the sadder days I can remember. I refuse, however, to badmouth him unnecessarily and spread rumors. Kerry is not perfect, no one is. And politicians are politicians. So please know, Funky, being fearful is no excuse.

Well said, snoopy. It does seem that the political threads are predominantly anti-Kerry/anti-Democrats. I think one reason is that many of us on the "liberal" side are often willing to admit both candidates and their platforms, records, etc. may have some problems. We're also generally willing to listen to both sides.

Those that start the anti-Kerry/anti-Democrats threads or those who agree with the threads opening comments are usually unwilling to admit their side could ever make mistakes. They also seem unwilling to objectively listen to any arguments from the other side. I like to think these are a small but very vocal and narrow-minded minority of the Republicans. Unfortunately, they've just served to make me more adamant in my opposition to their arguments and candidate.
