I have it too. When I am having an attack I swish some liquid benadryl around my tongue for about a minute then spit it out, if I am home or it is available. If it doesn't subside in a few minutes, or I am not near benadryl, I let an ice cube melt on my tongue. Usually the combination works for me. My attacks can last 5 minutes to hours. It makes life miserable when an attack occurs. The ice seems to be about the only thing that lessens the pain for me. I am prone to attacks with certain acidic foods, then other days it can happen for no apparent reason.
