Genie Service

Also funny that you now have to get up at 7 am to book 1 LL pass on your vacation, instead of booking 3 FP's for each day a head of time for your whole stay. So now you have to get up early each day of your vacation, instead of getting up one day before your vacation....... and pay for this privilege. Not sure who the marketing genius was who came up with this plan.

IMO the worst part of this is that -- even if you're willing to pay -- you have to get up at 7am every day on vacation to book the big ticket rides. I hate having to do that on HS day when we're trying to get a boarding pass for ROTR ... I certainly don't want to get up at 7am every day on my vacation. What kind of vacation is that?

I'd pay for the ability to book everything ahead of time so I can sleep in on vacation.

Maybe many deluxe guests will use the night hours for some of the more popular rides when it won’t be as crowded,

We will do this so we won’t have to do as many 7 am schedules. Then i again I can never sleep in at Disney so for me, it will be fine…lol

Very excited about the new Genie plus. I really enjoyed the maxpass in Disneyland. I know a bummer because.it costs more - but I will really will enjoy not having to book fast passes way in advance.

I agree that nickel and diming seems to be the best way to describe this. The extra $15 a day is rough enough but the fact that it won’t include the top attractions in each part and we have to pay an extra price to skip the lines on those… Between the free magical express going away and now this, it seems like guest experience is their last concern, it’s all about the bottom line.

And that's fine and I get that, but we all have lines. If we keep letting them get away with nickel and diming us to death, they will continue to do what they have always done.

Did this honestly throw me over the threshold? Probably not. Just drama for effect. But I will draw the line by not paying the ransom. I can at least do that. I'm tiring of the constant rising prices and diminishing value. We'll see when we see AP pricing.

Even if I walk away now, it was a great almost 20 year run. My DD was born and raised at WDW. She's 16 now, and if I walk away, I can sell for a profit and we would have enjoyed 20 years mostly on their dime. I'm probably not there, but every little chip takes away a little more of the paint. Some of it's been gone long enough that there are rust stains starting to appear. At some point, we all have to decide if the cost of repairs is getting too high or if trading in is a better option.
I get it, I honestly do. I think the tipping point will be different for everyone. I honestly lead a very frugal life outside of Disney. Disney is our splurge.

I'm happy with $15 day. I don't expect to be given a DVC discount - don't use it if you don't want to. Disney is a business - they want to be here another 50 years ! Disney has CMs that deserve get paid and if this improves life for all I say go for it, 2020 was a hard year for all.
Even as former CM I will never get over the things people feel they "should be entitled to" at WDW.

I'm hoping once the dust settles, that Disney will give onsite/DVC guests some type of "extra" I almost think they'd have to to keep people on site! As someone said a lot of peeps liked the 60+ FP perk staying onsite.

On the video, it was mentioned that on-site guests will get to book the Lightening Lane at 7 am instead of waiting to get into the park. Will that cause people to decide to stay on-site? Probably not by itself, but combined with other benefits (tangible and intangible), it will helps create the value proposition for on-site.

It has been clarified that the on-site guest gets a leg up on the extra Tier 1 rides at 7…the ones that cost additional like ROTR, etc,

The ones include for $15 a day will be open to all guests at 7 am.

As a DVC member, I travel with a lot of extended family. For me, FP+ was great because I could coordinate everyone’s schedule ahead of time. Grandma and grandpa take DD3 on TSMM while Dh and I take DD9 on RNR. Now that gets a lot more complicated to do the day of. With Genie, the TSMM return time might be at noon and the RNR return is at 3:00pm. I know some people hated the pre planning but with a large group, I loved it.
With every announcement my excitement for our March 2022 trip dwindles just a little bit. Which makes me so sad.

If it is just a minimal add on to an AP, it might be fine.
That's what Max Pass was + Photopass.
There better be a better option than per day or per ride.
We go for 10 days at a time.

I would like to see either Genie+ or at least 1x free Lighting Pass Premier Access (or whatever we're calling it) included in each day of Deluxe/DVC stays. It costs Disney nothing to offer that and will be a huge selling perk for their marketing team.

Restricting it to Deluxe/DVC will keep it fairly exclusive while providing an incentive for people to stay in deluxe properties w/their absurd cash rates. It would also put Disney in the same league as Universal w/their Deluxe resorts.

Preach it!!!! You will see every business will have to pay a fair living wage going forward . What you expect from a business will NEVER be the same either by cost or limited service.

I don't think Disney needs or wants to give a benefit to resort gst anymore. Look how much they have taken away from resort gst and YET resorts are booked.

If the profits of genie+ and the cost savings incurred from taking away all the other benefits "we were entitled to" meant that CMs get paid more then I'm all for it. I agree there should be better compensation for CMs given all the crap they put up with. But it's pretty clear based on all the changes so far that these measures are lining the pockets of C-suite and shareholders.

And worse yet, when the average family spends more than 10x the amount the average American holds in a savings account to take their once in a lifetime vacation, they'll ultimately be disappointed to be further nickeled and dimed and worse yet, may take out frustrations on CMs (like they're already are b/c of all the changes "due to COVID").
