Genie plus for 17 year old

Hi, my 17 year old going with hs trip tomorrow, he has his own my Disney experience account set up with his ticket and has his friend group set up, I tried to go on today and set up cc for him so he can buy genie plus,lightning lanes, but as a minor we can not? So now what opitions do we have? There is one friend in his group who is 18, will he have to manage them and pay for them all? That seems odd, the school is telling me to link him to my mde and manage it but I don’t want to be doing his planning from here ? That seems not practical at all, please tell me I am missing something? I called Disney and they told me there is no way to link a card to his account because he is 17? I thought you became an adult at 9 at Disney?

Use your MDE and give him your login credentials. You can both be logged in at the same time to the same account with no issues. My while family uses my login info so we can all make changes.

We run into this with our student groups all the time.

As long as he is on your friends and family list, you can buy G+ for him from home. Then once purchased, he can manage the bookings himself.

Or the friend who is 18 can purchase it for the group, and they can pay him back. They can all manage the rides after it is purchased.

This! My 17yo was on his class trip at DL a couple months ago and wanted to use G+. I bought it under my MDE but linked it to his acct (it asked for the ticket media and I entered his ticket #. From there, he and his friends all linked accts and were able to make their rides together.

Thanks for the help! So I guess Mobil order is out unless he logs out of his account and then logs in as me , same for individual purchase LL, what a hassle . Wish they would let us at least load a gift card, oh well what can you do, thanks again for the help!!!!

I was looking to have some payment in the app for him to use for genie plus, LL , and mobile food order, but under 18 it’s not possible, not even a gift card , that I think is annoying but what can you do.

I guess he could just log on to MDE as you, assuming you wouldn't mind his doing this.

Mobile order is a different system. Anyone with an MDE account (so anyone over 13) can mobile order. We give our groups Disney Dining cards, and recommend mobile ordering to save time in lines.

Doesn't matter the payment method. A guest has to be 18 to purchase Genie+ or ILL.
