Generic products you like?

It seems that generic products I purchase are either great or terrible. Thought I would start a thread for generic product reviews.

We've not gone wrong with anything Kirkland branded from Costco.
Not sure if it's technically 'generic' but The Works toilet cleaner is inexpensive and works better than anything else I've tried.
Meijer- love the cinnamon pita chips. I know we've tried other generics from there but I can't think of them at the moment.
I have tried generic maxi pads from several places and never been happy.

I've always had good luck with Target brands - Archer Farms, Market Pantry and Up and Up.

I agree with Kirkland!

Also, my wife does our big order at Wegman's and their products are great.

I also like Safeway products, but we don't shop there much ever since Wegman's opened.

I agree about the works cleaner, I can get it at Dollar Tree for $1.00.
I always buy generic over the counter medicine. Cold tablets, allergy tablets, ibuprofen, etc., I just read the active ingredients and make sure they're the same.

Walmart baby formula saved us a ton of $$$ with our 2nd child! Had the full support of our pediatrician and was able to get organic. Also like Walmart and target diapers. Loved the walmart diaper rash cream - only thing that worked for my kids and was under $2/tube.

Everything you have mentioned is a store brand.

I haven't seen Generic products in 25 years, the yellow or white labeled products that just said PEACHES or BEER or MACARONI.

As for store brands, so many of them are made by the brand name companies......or in a few cases the brand name products are produced by a third party that makes both brand name and store brands, there isn't much difference.

DW is not a big Walmart fan and is addicted to Oreos, and hates to admit she likes the chocolate flavoring in Great Values Oreo knockoffs much better than the original oreos.

Fit n active stuff from Aldi's is sometimes better than Kellogg's, etc.

Meijer pretzels are good.

Home Sense cleaning products from Kroger work fine for me.

Kroger string cheese is better than Kraft, etc.

Target/Up & Up night time baby wash. I have used this for at least 7 years and won't buy anything else even though my kids are 7 and 9. They have very sensitive skin and this is the only body wash that doesn't dry them out or make them itchy. Super bonus - it never leaves a ring in the tub so I clean less!

Up & Up eye makeup remover. Cheap and never stings.

I generally have great luck with Target and Kirkland brands. We end up preferring those brands to the name brands.

We have a grocery store here called "No Frills". I was just baking and realized my butter, flour, and veg. oil were all their generic brand (literally in the yellow packages with the black lettering generic). I notice zero difference. I think the brand is "No Name".
I will also use their pasta sauce, pizza sauce, brick cheese, cheese slices, popcorn, pretzles, orange juice pasta, pastry shells etc. Those are just the things I have in my house now. I do have very brand specific products I prefer (like paper towels for instance). But on many items, especially if they are just an ingredient in something and not the main event, I don't notice a difference at all and it saves quite a bit over the long run.

I've always had good success with Target brands. When DD was an infant I saved a ton buying the Up & Up formula, wipes and diapers.

I shop almost exclusively at Aldi, Costco and BJs. I think Aldi's "Fit"brand yogurt is the best over all national brands. I always use Kirkland paper towels. I rarely buy anything "name brand" except maybe Jif peanut butter.

Same here. We always buy Wal-Mart paper towels and Sam's Club toilet paper.

I also really like Wal-Mart brand paper plates. We use them a lot.

We buy 95% store brand products, but there are certain products that I must have the brand name. Ketchup is one of those... It must be Heinz.

Also, other products I will use the generic, but there is definitely a difference between the brand name and the generic name. For example, soda... The biggest difference between the generics and the brand name is the amount of CO2 that is added. I don't mind generic soda, but if you buy bottles it will go flat quicker. For cans or individual bottles it doesn't really matter. We usually buy brand name though, because it tends to be a "leader" item around here so the difference in price between generic and brand name is not that great.

Some products I actually prefer the generic. For example, coffee. I usually prefer the bulk beans to the packaged ones.

Have you tried Aldis ketchup? I used to swear loyalty to Heinz! I figured I would try Aldis ketchup for the kids! it is actually very good! I like their pb too,but I can understand sticking with skippy

The Cheetos knockoffs at Aldis are great, even better than the real ones. The knockoff Funyons suck.
