I have recently started to step out of my shell about trading. I have taken the advice I have seen here on the boards and I have been very careful. :thumbsup2 I am appauled at some VMKers behavior when it comes to trading.

Why do people get so angry when you refuse their trade? I have seen people ### or just flat our be ugly. I experienced some of it, but I was watching my daughter trade last night and was a bit shocked at how people act when she says no thanks.

Example: guy wanted to give her black ears and in return he wanted her gold Philharmagic chair, invisibility magic and fireworks magic. She said no thank you, that is not a good trade. He said whatever your problem and your loss. Then, when she canceled the trade, he asked the owner to boot her and told the owner he would give a prize. Owner ended up booting him.

I could tell this was a grown-up and not a kid as I was watching all he was saying and the way he was trying to trade....it makes me think he is just trying to trick kids out of their stuff.

But overall, I notice a great amount of rudeness when you tell somebody you are not interested in their trade. Especially when they are offering buyables for rare.

Do others experience this as well?

Most people I trade with are good about being refused, but I occasionaly run into people who can't believe I refused their offer.

for me its been people begging more than being rude such as 'please give me free im poor!' or 'please trade with me i really NEED that' i think its getting hard to tell who really is "poor" and who is just looking for a free hand out you know? im glad to give something i really dont need to someone who i think should get it but i really cant stand when people beg

I do, although very rarely. I always try to accept people's trades, because they might have something good to trade and I think turning trade off would make me seem like a rich snob. I am neither :lmao: Sometimes I refuse a trade and the person keeps on requesting and yelling at me, but generally most trade rooms are well-behaved.

Actually, I just had an idea. If your daughter could set up a trade room, some DIS'ers could come, get it onto the popular list, and help her trade. I'm sure a lot of us would be willing to help :thumbsup2

Thanks Cardinal. I am going to suggest that she do that. :)

I always leave my trade window closed, and I say my offers out loud, and if someone is looking for something I have, I ask them to say it out loud. This cuts down on the rudeness greatly because the whole room can witness it.

Then they will accept a simple "no thank you" because they know everyone is watching.

Yeah. I aways try this. And they keep whining "I will show you". Usually that means it's junk.

Yes, same here. If they can't TELL me what they want to trade, there is no way I'd accept a trade request with them. I just hit ignore. There's absolutely no reason to have to open a trade window to show me their offer - it's a big waste of time.

So I really have not witnessed any bad trading behavior, other than an occasional person telling me to give them my red helmet rather than asking me. But that's the worst I've seen so I can live with that. :)

BINGO! LOL. If you cant say it, I dont want it LOL. Thats my motto :)

I keep my trade option available because I feel that it is somewhat rude and closed off to make it completely not click-able. Just a view of being more approachable.

When I get a trade request notice, I very nicely ask, "______, what did you want to trade?" Sometimes they just have a question, sometimes they want something.

If it is a trade question, I tell them right there either, "Sorry, not for trade" or "What would you offer?"

If the reply is "I'll show you," I say, "Could you tell me please?"

If they won't, I usually wont open the trade window and I just politely say, "No thank you then" as I cancel the trade request.

Easy, and yet still friendly.

Heh, my trade window is usually off. Those pop-up windows are scary! :scared1:

I have recently started to step out of my shell about trading. I have taken the advice I have seen here on the boards and I have been very careful.

This is me. I've been trying to slowly start trading but it's difficult because I'm always so nervous. I've had people be very rude to me about offers I have made, but I'm not a very experienced trader. As a result, I've ended up offering too much sometimes, but the person I'm trading with doesn't bother to tell me that it's not a fair trade. I generally make my trades through DIS now because I have more faith in people here to be honest. I know it's frustrating to have a lot of trade requests on VMK and to have people offering things that are not worth what they're asking you to trade. However, sometimes you have to remember that some of us are a little shy and inexperienced, no matter the rare we may be wearing :) If your daughter ends up making a trade room, I'll likely come, just so I can get some help too! :thumbsup2

I thought your motto was "Look, there's a dust bunny! Now go entertain yourself and leave me alone! " That's all you ever say to me! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi There bytheblood! Wow definately sounds like your daughter has seen some rude people. Yes, well my friend I have had my fair share of rude people and guests during pin trading sessions. They do try to trick the kids and its not very nice at all, ive seen some kids get really hurt by people like that. I remember one girl had wanted to trde with this guy and she was about to and she gave him her pin, he took it and gave her the one she really liked...well she soon found out that it was a FAKE!! That girl she cried so much, well I found that guy later and got that pin back from him, and i looked and found that girl and gave it back to her! It made her day! She was so happy! I also so had a guy try to hustle me out of a few pins, I soon taught him a lesson.....I fixed him after I let him know i was a former/future Cast Member....I told him that you cant be rude or try to steal the pins away from the guests.....the point to that one was that I do follow by Cast Member trading pin guidelines..that way no one can get at the pins they cant have or try to get away with free ones! Yes, there are guidelines for pin trading that the Cast Members follow, alot of people don't know that, but that's one their pretty well kept secrets...you and your daughter will always know when your trading with a Cast Member or a very skilled guest. Just be on the lookout for guests that try to make sloppy trades, bad pins for a really good pins. I'm sure your daughter knows what she's doing...but I gave you this info because i want your daughter and you to be safe! I care alot about the guests and other Cast Members! Well hope this information was helpful and I wish your daughter good luck with her trading! Take care! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

When you told them you were a former/future castmember (not sure what that means) you could have been banned for 10 years for impersonation of staff.

It probably was not your intent, but you shouldnt tell anyone that in the game, as that is exactly how it will be interpreted.

I am not really sure but I had to read that post twice. Was that post moved here from another thread or was it just posted at the wrong place? I think the OP is referring to a pin trading event with real Disney pins. They talk about the pin the girl traded as being a "fake" which is what made me go back and read it again. Correct me if I am wrong but I think that post is in the wrong place.

As far as my trading experience. I try to trade only in trade rooms. I never pull up random trade requests with people bc they maybe wearing something I'd like to offer on. Chances are if they are wearing it and not in a trade room they are not trading the item. I will answer random requests if the person will tell me what it is they are interested in. It can be annoying to be on the pirate dock or mansion lobby and join a game only to wait and wait for the game to start and find out the person who started the game went into trade after pulling up the game. The fireworks lobby also. People want to trade ... you go into trade with them only to have them disappear bc they get pulled into the game when it starts. The best one though is people that send requests in the dark room rides like you would actually have the time to complete a trade while riding through one room of the ride. :rotfl: :rotfl:

This was my impression of that post, too. I don't think he was referring to trading in VMK.

Ok Genisus! Listen closely, I wasnt referring to VMK, I was giving general pin trading information. i know what i was talking about. I know his post was about VMK. I was just tryin to help the guy who orginally posted this, a little help. But if you go back and read his original post, his title says "General Trading Question". What Wwould that title lead you to believe? Anyways also to those of you who cant figure this one out (former/future Cast Member) means i was a former CM for disney and will be a CM again soon! So there is no impersonating nothing! Get your facts straight before "blasting" other people!

You are posting in a pin trading thread for the game. Change your tone or I will help you find some spare time to think about your actions. CM's wouldnt behave like this.
