Really been enjoying Skeleton Crew! Casual SW fans, but the whole family has been watching. Looking forward to Tuesday! Been a while since I've had any "must view" TV.

We had a nice episode that really got into the heads of the kids - literally in KB's case! They are so fully realized and each so unique. It was a bit of a calmer episode, but still. I guess the Pirates are going to give Jod another chance, convinced by an old Pirate song. That does lead me to believe that Captain Rennod did this a long, long time ago, if there are songs about it and all. I doubt they will find him alive. Is it just me, or does the Onyx Cinder look even cooler with it's outer hull stripped away?

wow, damn Jude Law....I may end up being wrong, but I don't think he was grandstanding, or saying and doing all that just to scare them....I think he really is that nasty and full of anger. I thought for sure that mouse was gonna get squished. I don't think he'd REALLY hurt the kid.....Not sure if there's time for a redemption arc for him....maybe. And still no idea who the administrator is....if we even find out. Good episode. I dont' know how they're to wrap it up with just one more I

Yeah, that underlying sofdt spot may have all been an act. I don't feel like he will get an redemption arc now. Like I said - unexpected! Not that that's a bad thing. It's good when something isn't too tropey. I am definitely looking forward to the finale!

This show continues to be so enjoyable. Wim charging Jod even though he has no chance to win. Again, they let these kids shine by giving them actual depth and chances to grow. I have no doubt the kids will save the day in the finale by outsmarting Jod. I'm still convinced the Supervisor is AI and possibly the AI consciousness of the Pirate captain. Everything seemed very automatic when the ship arrived on the planet, as if everything was programmed for the Republic to never know he was there. Can't wait for the finale

It was interesting that a "Republic" emissary was coming for a delivery, even though I don't think that could have possibly happened for a long, long time. I was a little surprised that the parents had some knowledge of the nature of things, because the people outside clearly did not expect a ship - ANY ship - to arrive and land on the platform under the grass they were all standing on. The droids seem to consider it routine, but it can't possibly be.

Some favorite moments:

• The parents running through the woods from teh droids is jsut right out of E.T.!
• The Onyx Cinder looks cooler now. I loved seeing it fly through the planetary barrier, which is more than just an illusion, apparently. I guess it does not stop ships from leaving at all, but will stop them from entering. Nice to see the pirate fighters from Mando too.
• SHOCKED that Silvo just flat shot Brutus in the head! That was when I was like, whaaaaat? That's a good thing thoguh - expectations fully subverted! Too bad though - Brutus was cool! Number one Black Series fig of 2024!
• SM-33 cold-cocking Silvo! Um, she called claimsies, sir! Also, Jod later having a headache. Yeah, I bet! All I can say is that SM-33 better be okay!
• Jod showering in the gold - he's got the fever, man!

Not big Star Wars news, but watching football playoffs yesterday, and one of the players for San Diego is named McConkey. He also played for Georgia for a few years, and we follow most SEC games, so heard his name a lot them. Every time we hear it though, DH and I just shout Maclunkey! makes us smile!

Something I thought would be fun to share with you all that I’m looking forward to this week - I’m going to a Q&A screening of The Brutalist on Wednesday and Felicity Jones is going to be there to introduce the film and do a Q&A session about it afterwards and then will hopefully be joining us all at the drinks reception after that so I’ll get to say hello to the one and only Jyn Erso!

So any guesses as to why the viewership is so low for Skeleton Crew? I am hearing it’s well below The Acolyte and that show was cancelled due to poor viewership. All reports I have read have been positive so far, so I don’t really understand why people aren’t watching it.

I really like the show. Idk if the fact that it is geared towards kids is a factor?
I have a teen boy and he was turned off by the "elephant" character.

I'm sorry to hear it's not getting good numbers though. It's a good show.

I was quite surprised that the viewership was so low. Not sure what it’s gonna take to get the mainstream to pay attention to SW again. It’s quite confusing to me……but it certainly appears that Disney SW is failing to capture the hearts and imaginations of modern audiences.

Maybe the Mando movie has a chance to bring them back?

I have read that while initially the viewership (in minutes) was low, that it has improved and is now the number one show on Disney+ in January 2025. I think the holidays might have had soemthing to do with it, plus people just waiting to get started on it. Strong word of mouth can't hurt either. Hopefully it has legs.

That said, I don't really care if it has a season 2. It's great, but it can stand alone and still be great. The kids are already a few years older than they were when the show was filmed. I am good with just leaving it be. Of course, they have to give it a proper ending with full closure. That was the worst thing about The Acolyte - just assuming season 2 is a given and providing no closure. Every season of a show should always be a complete narrative.

I'll see what tomorrow brings. I"ve loved this show WAY more than I ever could've expected. When it was announced, I was like, ugh, kids and silly creatures/droids in Star Wars...the worst! (always loved Jude law tho..) but I sure was wrong!!
I think a lot of people probably took breaks from their Disney + for a while. I considered it. I didn't think I'd care about anything this year except Daredevil and Andor, but then Skeleton Crew was quite the surprise. Hope the numbers will improve. My son hasn't watched it, but might when all the episodes are out. Another co-worker is planning to do that too, just binge them all at once, so maybe that's what's happening with a lot of people, just waiting until all episodes are available.
I'm good if it's just one season, but there's other pirate tales to be told I think. if not in a season 2, in some sort of way. Good with either....looking so forward to the finale!
