DH, our son (14) and I are finally returning to Disney in August and are very excited. I had weight loss surgery and can't eat much - can I order off the kids' menus at restaurants?

We are not using DDP. Thanks.

You’ll be charged full price at buffets. At other TS it depends on the CM. I’ve heard they tend to still charge higher prices for “adult portions.” You might be better ordering an appetizer. At CS you can order whatever you want.

Just FYI, I was not feeling well when I recently dined at 50s Prime Time, and asked if I could just order a side of mashed potatoes and seltzer. They Obliged. If it is a restaurant with plated meals (not buffet) you could just order soup/ appetizer, or what you like, but not always a child's meal. You can, however, order what you want, split meals, or just have a drink. I was concerned once about making a reservation for just dessert at a restaurant, and Disney reps said that you may order what you like.

You will have no problem ordering from the kids' menu at any counter service restaurant and you will be able to order from the children's menu at virtually every table service restaurant where you order from a menu. Once in a while someone will post that a server or restaurant adhered to the ages 3 - 9 at a table service venue, but not often.

You will charged the adult price at buffets (e.g. Tusker House, Crystal Palace) and all you care to eat family style restaurants (e.g. Garden Grill, 'Ohana), fixed price meals (e.g. CRT, Akershus), dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), dining packages (e.g. ROL, Fantasmic), special events (e.g. fireworks dessert parties, Dine with an Imagineer) and the family platters at Whispering Canyon Cafe and Liberty Tree Tavern lunch.

can I order off the kids' menus at restaurants?

1) At ANY ala carte eatery, you can eat form any menu and pay the posted price.
2) at any buffet, AYCTE, character meal, or dinner show, you pay the adult price - regardless how much you consume.
