I rec'd the following email today...so looks like Monday is the target date...Mods, if I am wrong in posting please delete!

Walt Disney World has announced an extension of the the “Free Dining” promotion for 2009. Currently, the discount is only available to Disney VISA cardholders, though it will be released to the general public starting on Monday, July 27, 2009. With the “Free Dining” promotion, Disney resort guests who book a Magic Your Way package that includes both your Disney resort room and your Magic Your Way park passes, will receive the Disney Dining plan add-on for free for all guest three and older in their party. There are a few requirements:

You must book at least a three night stay, and your stay cannot be longer than 10 nights
You must include at least a one day Magic Your Way base ticket
You must pay your $200 per room deposit at time of booking with your Disney VISA card, you cannot “hold” a reservation
There is one small change with this promotion, from past free dining offers.

Book a three night stay at at Disney Value resort, and receive the Quick Service dining plan included for free with your stay.
Book a three night or longer stay at a Disney Moderate, Deluxe or Villa resort, and receive the Disney Dining plan included for free with your stay.
As it was in the past, this year Disney World guests will also be able to book the “Free Dining”, and upgrade to the Disney Deluxe Dining for the normal price difference, which is $32 for adults and $10 for children three to nine. The Wine and Dine option is also available at full price to add onto either the Basic or Deluxe dining plans. If you book your stay at a Disney Value resort, you have the option to upgrade to the Disney Dining plan by paying the difference, which is $10 for adults and $2 for children three to nine.

Availability is extremely limited, and must be booked by September 26, 2009. It appears that all suites have been excluded from this offer, though all resorts, including value resorts are included. To receive the Disney VISA cardholder discount, you must pay your deposit at time of booking with your Disney VISA, and you must pay the balance with your Disney VISA card as well, when due. As a reminder, this exact discount will be released on July 27 to the general public without the Disney VISA requirements.

One thing to note that while the last date of travel is December 17, the free dining will extend past that date, as long as you check in December 17 or before. As usual, this is subject to availability.

sorry if info is out there already, just trying to let folks know.

Do you if the codes will be the same as the Disney Visa Cardholder codes or will they change when it opens to the general public?

They'll change. It will be a different allotment of rooms.

Did you notice the sentence.

I asked about this today when I called and the cm said I only had to pay the $200 for it.

YOu don't have to pay the $200 deposit with a disney visa for the general public code, right?

Can these packages still be cancelled at least 45 days before the trip for a full refund, including the $200 deposit?

And where should we look to find the code when booking? Will it show up on the official Disney website so we can book it online without even having to do anything special, or will we have to phone it in with a code?

I switched a PIN offer (adults eat and play at kids prices) to the Disney Visa offer today. I had paid my deposit on my Disney Visa but had applied a $500 Amex payment on it with some points I had. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to apply the new code today but the CM assured me that I was okay with that Amex payment on it.

Does anyone know if the room rates are discounted from the normal rack rates along with the FD promotion?

Doesn't look like it. I had the free dining visa code applied to my reservation and my parents and it took off exactly the dining amount.

HTH!

Wow, I didn't realize that about making all the payments with the VISA.....never had that issue before. I guess I could always take the debit/cash and pay off the VISA everytime I make a payment....seems like a lot of extra work though.

Hmmm...does this mean I can't use my Disney Rewards to pay towards my trip? I have almost $400 I was going to use to pay towards it. I certainly hope I can!

No, they are the normal rack rate which is why we did not book the "free dining" offer. We had a 30% pin code that we were using for our room at AKL. After doing the math, we kept what we had because the savings came to only $9 each off the price of the regular dining plan. My DH is one of those rare people who doesn't care for the DP. Now if it worked out to be truly "free" for us, I'm sure I could convince him.

For those of you who are experts, how does it actually work out to be "free dining" for some? I'm guessing it depends on where you are staying...is that correct?
