General Online Check-in question

Hello all,

We are trying to do the online check-in process, but the system seems to want me to assign a PIN to both of my minor children. Why would they need a PIN, assuming they are too young to charge anything to our credit card on record?

Do you have to assign a pin to them, or is there a way to bypass that on the online check-in page?

Any reason not to? I just worry about another magic band with purchasing properties...granted they would need to know the PIN....

Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't worry about assigning the pin. As you say, someone would have to know the pin in order to charge anything. And the likelihood of that is teeny tiny.

Is this the same PIN that would be associated to a Dining Plan or are they different? If you have a plan they would most likely have it for that...

I don't even have a pin on my account. I don't use my MB to charge back to my room since I prefer to have a little more control over my spending. It's just to easy to zip that MB instead of pulling out a card or cash. I always carry some cash and a cc with me instead.

When you arrive, I believe you can deactivate charging privileges on your kids' MBs if you're concerned. But the whole point of the pin in the first place is so that if you lose your MB or it's stolen, no one can charge back to your room without that pin.

The PIN is for charging to the room. You don't have to set that up at all. Minors over a certain age (10, maybe?) get PINs. But if you don't tell them what it is, then they can't do it.

The pin is for security when you charge purchases back to your room. You can set it so that your children don't have the option to use the pin and charge, but even if you don't do that, they won't be able to charge anything if you don't tell them the pin number.

We did tell our 12 year old the pin number so if he ran down to the food court from the room and wanted to get something, he could, but he never remembers the pin number. LOL.
