General first day of school for 2015-2016?

No official schedule yet, but looking at a calendar, our school will start Monday, August 17.

Our schools went to a balanced calendar a few years ago so they now go back the first week of Aug. They are suppose to be out around Memorial Day, but will all the snow days, it may be later than that.

We go back August 6. Too hot, but the schools have a/c & we are out by Memorial Day. I believe I would love year round schools, but I'm not a teacher either!

Atlanta private school so not a huge number of kids on this schedule although I think at least one county coincides.

August 4 I believe and they get out about May 20

my school goes back on the thursday after labor day. (new jersey)

i know that a LOT of schools go back after labor day, going after labor day would have the least amount of students after the summer (especially new jersey).

Hoping for low crowds the last week of August. We've been before and loved the low crowds but this late start is worrying me that crowds may be higher than usual.

I think the bolded is true, it will be very busy IMO at the end of Aug/beg of Sept due to the late school start, plus many parents with kids that start back before labor day will book before the calendar is out and have the kids miss the first couple of days if they misjudged the start date.

We will be there 8/26-9/5.

Do you think the week of 8/30 will be slow? I'm thinking (and hoping!) the week of the 8/23 will be busier and crowds will die down the actual week before Labor Day.

We go back early, Aug 3. Which is 4 days later than last year, woohoo! I would think by the second week of August you will see a slight drop off on crowds, and it will get s little more so with each week.

I don't think it will be slow the week of 8/30, but slower than 8/23. We went last Aug and it was moderately crowded. There were lots and lots of Canadians there, I think they start school later than the US. I just think with LD being late lots of folks will go that week before, then there will be the people who normally go the beginning of Sept that will be there.
