My daughter's girlfriend is having a Gender Reveal Party at a local park in a few weeks.
We've never been to one, but have attended lots of baby showers.

Do you bring a gift to the party?
I'm guessing its pretty informal with no printed invitation.

I’m not sure what the expectation is but I’d plan to give a single baby gift, whether it be at this party, a baby shower later on or after the baby arrives.

Sounds like this is someone to whom you're not close. If you want to bring a gift, make it something small.

Personally I wouldn't but then I've never been to a gender reveal party. Back when I had kids the gender reveal "party" was at the birth. ;)
There's still people that want the gender to be a surprise at birth, which does impress me because I don't have that level of control to *not* find out.

On the other hand I do find the idea of a gender reveal party to be a bit odd. But if all you're doing is having a party and cutting a cake to find out if it's a boy or a girl, I don't really see much harm in it. - it's really just an excuse to have a themed party. It's those over the top, "Instagrammable" reveals that really get me, because it feels like you're really looking for the 15 minutes a viral video can give you.

I wouldn’t but I HATE gender reveal parties. Everyone in my family and friends group love them and I have gone to a few if I’m close to the parents-to-be but I have never brought a present to one.

There is a large age gap between my kids and gender reveal parties were not really a thing when I had my daughter. 18 years later while pregnant with my son my friends asked me what kind of party I was having for the gender reveal and I said none. One friend said I had to have one and she was going to force it on me. She didn’t get to find out the gender until I told everyone else because of this. Fortunately my husband hates them as much as I do so he had no issue just sending a text message to the people we wanted to know.

I don’t take gifts. One of my cousins tried to do a diaper raffle thing for their gender reveal and I told them they were bugging. Actually I told my aunt who was hosting it. I did not take any diapers. That’s for the baby shower.

Not sure why people are so excited about the baby having a ***** or ******?

ETA - since neither word for genitals passed the G rating here, I'll just say I don't understand the need for "gender" reveal? So, OP, no, you don't need to bring a gift.
