Ok, maybe it's just where I am, but the geese are flying like crazy here. I hear them day and night (it's dark now and I just heard a huge flock fly overhead). I don't recall seeing geese in flying in such large numbers this time of year. Some are flying north, some south - it's just strange. Several people have pointed this out to me so I'm not the only one in this area noticing it.

I also don't remember ever hearing them fly after dark. They woke me up at 6 o'clock this morning (they are LOUD!).

Anyone else? :confused3

Yeah, they are still holding out hope in the frozen pond behind my subdivision. I am shocked when I hear them honking as they fly overhead. Don't these things fly south for the winter? I guess not!

This is the time of year geese migrate south from Canada down the four major flyways through the continental US. They will stop along the way and even hang out a while as long as they can find food and they aren't getting hunted.

The Canadian Geese here on Long Island, don't migrate any longer. People started feeding them..and they are here all year round now. They have become a major problem on our school fields, and large grassy area's. Goose poop...all over the place... it's disgusting.:scared: They also are near the railroad tracks..and it's not pretty seeing what happens to them there. Not to mention..they are a major problem near the airports!

I think that areas that have a problem with them should let dogs have a freer run of parks.

I'd love to bring Max down to the town's baseball fields and let him off leash. The exercise would be great for him, and one look at him would send most geese right back to Canada where they belong.

I have seen a ton of geese last week flying above this past week. They were following the Meramac River. :thumbsup2

I did see a bald eagle near my house. They are here to overwinter. I plan on heading up to the Mississippi River to go and check them out. They have "eagle days" here till about mid Feb. There is a spot that they hang out at.
