Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

Well, I am VERY pleased to report the wishing well (or fountain?! I can't remember now!) at WL has worked its magic again... see my ticker!!! :yay:
Its very early days but I am SO SO happy!!!
(please don't mention it on my facebook!!!)

So yes it is early, we have told my parents and OHs Dad. We'll tell our siblings in a few weeks. Otherwise just you guys get to know being my virtual Disney pals!!! Baby is due 22nd Dec. My parents wedding anniversary!

Love the shopping update. Really like the look of the last few tee-shirts you took pics of. Wonder if they will be there in a few months?!

Congrats -- That fountain is powerful. When MeMom tosses coins, it listens. :lmao:

It's great to know that it is still working its magic. :wizard:
A baby for Christmas is a good present. :santa:

You never know with Disney merchandise. Some stays around forever, and some comes and goes quickly.

Happy Friday!

Sounds like the girls will have a fun weekend getting a new swing for the backyard.

Ahhh....Lily is soo cute! I wish she could stay that small forever!
You were so lucky to get that pic of her.
I learned some great little animal facts this morning from you!

AK shopping....just wonderful! Love all the new tees!
We may have to pick up a set of those cool animal ears.

Love the pic of Bella! Those ears match her outfit perfectly!
Did you buy them for her?
That smile a great way to start my day!

Stay dry today! April showers bring May flowers!

I think the swingset raising has now been postponed due to the weather.

I didn't buy the ears for her, but they did match that outfit nicely. :thumbsup2

Good morning MeMom. I hope your storms are not too bad today.

I love all the AK merchandise. I think DH needs one of those hats with the giraffes on them. Think I could sell him on one of those??

I love some of those t shirts.

Oh my gosh Bella looks so cute with the ears on & they match her skirt.

Have a good Friday.

I lost a couple of roof shingles. I saw them in the yard. I'll have to get the boys to go up and check things out.

Of course your DH needs a giraffe hat!

I love all the AK/AKL merchandise. I could definitely do a room up in my house real nice with all of that if I had unlimited funds! And I think Bella has a career in Disney merchandise modeling. We'll be seeing her on the Disney shopping website when she's a little older!

That's a nice idea. Maybe we...er, um, I mean she could get a merchandise discount.

I LOVE the mugs with the various Mickey head prints on it! And Bella modeling the ears is adorable.

I hope your storms aren't too bad. Have a great Friday!

At least the worst part waited until after we got home, so we weren't stuck in the halls doing a tornado lockdown with the kids again.

Congratulations! MeMom and that WL geyser are a serious combination. I have to make sure in July she doesn't have any quarters for me being thrown in that fountain!

Bella is still little. I'll give you another year with her, but by the time she's three....well, let's just say I have some quarters set aside. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the AK shopping trip Memom, we didn't have time to look at much at AK this trip. We did walk the trail and see the gorillas for the first time, but we still didn't get a chance to see the tigers.

Jill, I bet Memom is planning to sneak a quarter or two in there for you. You better keep a close eye on her.

I'm giving her another year. ;)

Time is always a factor in what you get to see and do in WDW. Maybe tigers next time. :)

Look at that sweet little Bella girl. Her headband matches her cute little skirt perfectly!

Yeah, it does. Maybe we should have bought it.

Yeah you better watch her closely!! Make sure if she IS throwing quarters in that they are for someone else.

I'll be true to my word - one more year. After that, I'll be tossing that change again for my own wishes. :goodvibes

You may just want to keep her away from WL altogether

Nooooo! I have to toss for others for now.
I said I wouldn't throw quarters for Jill,
but if I accidentally dropped in two dimes and a nickel..... :rolleyes1

Congratulations!!! Exciting news!

I also LOVE that mug with the various Mickey heads. I must get that!!! I am working on a collection of Disney mugs and will be selling any mugs that are not Disney in my garage sale in May. Even the ones that go with my dishes. I think they have never been used! HA!

Those Mickey sillhouette t-shirts are really cool. How did I not see these when I was at AK??? I was in the shops before we left too! Dang!!

Perhaps a visit to Disneyshopping on line is in my future...

Memom - I love that you teach 2nd grade! Just like Anita!! I have a second grader right now, so I have to say you guys are amazing!!! My dd has 28 kids in her class and only 8 are girls!!!! Her whole grade (two classes) is 2 to 1 boys! Her poor teacher! I'm going in to volunteer next week since I have a little time I can take off work.

I have to hide my Disney mugs. Drew takes them off and leaves them at other people's houses or throws them out by mistake. I can't trust him, so I keep them in a special place, and he's only allowed to use generic cups. He has his own Disney coffee mugs and travel mugs that he never seems to lose, though. He only loses mine.

This has been an interesting year. I usually get some of the worst behavior issues and troubled kids, because my principal thinks I'm good with them. He knows I will try to work things out in the room as much as possible and only send them to the office when really necessary. He thinks I have the perfect combination of firm and fair and of knowing when to push and when not to. This year, I have had two little boys with severe issues, and it's been pretty exhausting, to be honest. I will admit that I am ready for a break from the everyday wear and tear they bring with them. Part of me feels bad for feeling that way, because they're just two little guys who didn't really have a chance from the beginning, as they were born from and into horrible circumstances. Some of what they do can't be helped, and I know that, but it doesn't make it any less tiring and frustrating. I have kids in my class who I have not been able to know this year because of the massive amounts of time I've spent on these boys, and that makes me sad. I love getting to know all of the kids. Sometimes, I look at their faces when one of my two boys is tearing up the classroom or throwing things or kicking the walls or beating his head on the desk, and I feel sorry for them having to have watched this all year. :sad1: These boys are going to have rough roads ahead, and it is heartbreaking. The public doesn't see this kind of thing when they look at test scores and hear about 'bad' schools. We can't undo everything that goes on at home. Some of our parents never check to see that the child has simple supplies or that homework is done. Some can barely write a note themselves. We're fighting a pretty rough battle at our school. We feel pretty good about what we're doing, because we know we are making positive changes for so many kids, but then we'll get blasted in the media by people who don't have a clue what goes on in the trenches. It can be a rewarding job, and it can be a frustrating job.

Sorry about all that. I have to vent occasionally, and I think this is a safe place to do it. :) I love teaching. I don't love a lot of things that come with the teaching.

DisneyJoo- what wonderful news- congrats!

That fountain must be some serious magic, I've been thinking it might be time to get serious about a little brother or sister for Everett, I might have to take a trip by the Wilderness Lodge during our May vacation!

It looks like you guys had a great time at AK! Its too bad there were no Meerkats out, they are my favorite. I could just stand and watch them all day. I do like the gorillas also, but they are so human I find it a little creepy that they are in a zoo. It hits a little too close to home for me!

I suppose though, if you had to be at a zoo, there would be no better place than AK!

My kids are three years and four years apart, and that was a nice 'spread', I thought. I still wanted more, though, but I just couldn't afford it since I was doing it on my own. That will probably always be my biggest regret in life - not being able to have more. :sad1:

The meerkats are so cute bobbing their heads back and forth. They are serious about their patrol jobs!

I love that Mickey animal print mug.

Bella looks like she was having such a fun time trying those ears on Giggly girl!

She liked the ears. Normally, she's not much at posing for pictures, but she liked the zebra ears.

I'm really enjoying the animal education I'm getting. I don't know if I look as interested as Brooklynn. The picture of Lilly is so cute. I hope she continues to improve and develop.

Great shopping pictures again! Belle's outfit is perfect for those zebra minnie ears.

Hope you stayed safe today.

I will love hearing about Lilly and her progress in the years ahead. ::yes::

Awwww the Bella pictures are so cute!

Thanks. :cutie:

Congratulations.. that's awesome!!!!!

More DIS babies! :cheer2:

Tell her to stay away for me too! I picked up Caleb at my SIL's house today and told her that Blake's (my 10 yr old nephew) wish was going to come true! She goes "You're pregnant??" Um NO!!!! She goes "Oh the race will be cancelled??" I was like where did that come from?? Apparently my nephew has been wanting a new little cousin! LOL! My husband helps with a race dirt truck and its supposed to rain so the race will probably be cancelled. Blake who is a huge fan could not go tonight because he had baseball practice so he was wanting the race to be rained out!

Maybe some day but not now! LOL!

Just say when. ;) :rotfl:

Congrats -- That fountain is powerful. When MeMom tosses coins, it listens.

I hope to still be around to toss quarters when your kids are ready, too. :thumbsup2

Hi Memom and gang. I am mostly a lurker and rarely post, but I wanted you to know I love your trip reports. I have gone back to the first one and read most of them, still have one to finish. Your reports are always so loving of your family and rarely do you say negative things. We have been going every January for 5 years with our daughter's family. I love the time with my grandchildren, but we are going in October by ourselves. I was reading about people going on birthday trips and mentioned to dh that I was having a big birthday this year, 60!!! He said he was just thinking about that the day before. I asked him was he just thinking about my 60th birthday or a Disney birthday. He said Disney but he didn't want to go when it was so hot (July 28th). So we are planning a birthday/anniversary trip in October. Just wanted to share and say thanks for all these wonderful reports you write.:thumbsup2
Robyn

Well spring break has started for us too! And I think we crawled into break on our hands and knees. It is a tough job....and certainly it has its heaping share of frustrations! I totally can relate Memom!:goodvibes (and on a side note for us in NJ...I have been paying a sizable chunk of money every paycheck into our pension...and I may not ever see a dime of it...and somehow our governer seems to think its my fault :confused3 for even thinking I should have a pension..which the state has taken $ out of for the past 10 years. grrrrrrr) Oh and my lunch period is only 25 min :teacher: and its 23 if they send the students back early. :sad2:

Going back a few pages, I loved the soccah game!:rotfl2: And how they are just learning and got to name their team and the whole quarter thing and Bella trying to process what's going on....oh gosh...what a blast.:thumbsup2

Love your Animal Kingdom print! And all of your changes to the house! :yay: I am trying to fix up my sewing room this weekend as a matter of fact!

Have a super weekend Jill and Memom and family!!!! Palm Sunday coming up!

:grouphug: We will always be here to let you vent!
I just wish you had one year where you had day to day peace without any issues.
I do think it is a true reflection of the wonderful teacher and person you are that the principal thinks so highly of you to give you these children.
Your compassion for these children is thier blessing.
You are probably the best part of thier lives...they are very lucky to have you as thier teacher. :grouphug:

Trip update:
I am a little discouraged with booking the January cruise.
I have read some reviews and it can be too cold to go in the ocean or pools at that time.
That is no good for our first time at Castaway Cay. :sad1:
I wouldn't want our first experience to be anything but fantastic.
Lexi wants to do the Sting Ray encounter and the snorkeling.
I am now possibly looking at later in the spring...maybe May 2012 or I may stick with the original plan for this September.
So confused as to what to do...:confused3
If only we could predict the weather with 100% certainty!

Will the girls be at your place for Easter next weekend after the zoo?

If photobucket will co operate I have some time this morning to put some pics up from NYC.

If it works....pics to follow....:goodvibes

You should definitely throw a few quarter's in for Jill ;) I just hope that nothing happens to the fountain in the next few years, because as soon as I'm ready i'll need a whole roll of them  I'll let you know as soon as I need some quarters thrown :)

I always enjoy shopping pics especially when they are shopping pics from Animal Kingdom!

Love Bella in the zebra ears! Just adorable!!!

Coming out of lurkdom to say...loving this TR!!

I always show my kids the merchandise photos from your reports and they :lovestruc them!!

Can't wait for more!

Teaching is a tough job - no doubt about it! I sure appreciate that someone else is willing to do it since I'm not cut out for it!

Canadian - we cruised in 2009 on February 1 and it was really windy and the water at Castaway was cold! Because of the wind they cancelled a lot of excursions including stingrays. Now we just went in March and it was still a bit cool in the water and air temps were in low 70s which is below normal. So you never know. We have had 80s in december and January in wow and swam. I'm sure it would be plenty warm in may or september. But in September nits hurricane season. Just a little info to think about.

Here are some pics of the things we brought home from the NYC trip....

This is Diego the saber tooth tiger from Build a Dino and Big Apple the I heart NYC bear from Build a Bear NYC.
The Liberty outfit was for her Minnie...you will see her in it later.

100_0692.jpg

Various re useable bags! Can't have enough bags! I've lost count on how many I have.
100_0691.jpg

New Mickey head plates and silverware to match! I hope all of my DIS friends can get these!
100_0689.jpg

100_0688.jpg

Had to have these too! Perfect for summer!
100_0687.jpg

For Easter or Spring time! The plates and cups are sold seperately.
100_0686.jpg

These were a special Disney Store deal - only $5 each when you spend so much...took home all three! Can you blame me?
100_0685.jpg

These are my favorite souvies...I could have spent a fortune in there!
Would have gotten so much more but this was my first stop and I didn't want to blow my whole budget in the first hour. :lmao:
I planned to go back but it didn't work out...I have a huge want list for next time....and there will be a next time!
100_0684.jpg

Pokemon from the Nintendo World store...couldn't name them if I tried...but Lexi knows them all! :rotfl:
100_0683.jpg

Had to bring Aaron home something...so pj pants and a tee it was.
He uses the travel mug every morning for his hot chocolate. :)
100_0680.jpg

Picked these up at the Statue Cruise gift shop...Lexi's classmates love them.
She just got her "pen" license from her teacher so she is thrilled be be able to use the pen.
100_0678.jpg

Look what arrived just in time for her birthday!
Thanks Poolrat for giving me the heads up!
She loves them!
100_0675.jpg

This is the cake that Lexi picked out...the only choices in the bakery that day were between Tangled or a Mickey & Minnie beach cake.
(I usually order her cake but this time we took our chances and were pleasantly surprized.)
Maybe a little Disney magic....was at work!
The Tangled cake won out because it was chocolate...I wanted the Mickey one but it wasn't my birthday! Very tasty!!!
I thought it was ironic because we had been talking about Brooklynn having a Tangled birthday. ;)
100_0671.jpg

She got Mittens & Rhino to go with the "well played" with Bolt...Bolt has even swimmed in the ocean at MB.
100_0701.jpg

There you go...I know there is other stuff I'm forgetting.

Oh I forgot the crazy haired monkey from TRUS...I'll take a pic of him later.

I totally agree!!! I have enough stress working with adults who can behave like children...:rotfl:

Thanks for the info.

I bought travel insurance for the September cruise because it is hurricaine season.
May 2012 is looking like the better choice the more I look into it!
I could plan it for the begining of the month so it would be a Mother's Day/F&G Festival trip too!
May just seems so far away! :upsidedow

I agree with that!! :rotfl2: Even though most of the staff here are college students, sometimes I feel like a kindergarten teacher :)

As promised....trip pics from NYC!

Can you guess where we had lunch first?

Well, if you would just wait until June, you could cruise with us.....

Loved your NYC pics! That is one of many places that I really want to visit some day. Such another world from small town Kansas!

We are the Tanglewood Tigers! I must have this shirt!!!!

I love the "I love/mickey head NY" stuff! So so cute!!!

Memom, it has been a very long, stressful and wild afternoon here in NC. We have had many tornadoes touch down and it is just a mess. One touched down about 3 miles from our house. I am so incredibly thankful to have my home and life in tact right now. So many others around here can't say that. There is widespread damage and several deaths already reported. Please remember the folks around here in your prayers. And I know there are other NC readers on your TR and I am curious to know how they fared through all this. I hope everyone is safe and doing well.

The shower curtain looks better in person than in pictures, doesn't it?

Yes it does! I need to re-do the girl's bathroom and thought about stealing your AKL theme but there's no window so it may be too dark for that.

Girl I hope you are OK. Our part of the state did just fine. We just got a few strong stoms and the worst of it only last 30 minutes around me.
