Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

I thought those eggs were just so cute when I saw them. They were different from all the others, and with us being such animal lovers, they seemed made for us. :)

We lost one egg, but I found it today in my room with the two M&M's in it. They didn't last long. ;)

If you ever try out the Nashville Zoo again, give us a call.

I will most certainly do that. There is a good possibility we will be in Nashville next spring. I have a conference I attend in Kentucky that rotates throughout the state each year and I believe it is in Bowling Green in 2012. Tom and I have talked about making a weekend of it and heading to Nashville. Will definitely give you a call and meet up.

sorry about the double post on the first batch.

Riding Dinosaur together would be fun. :rotfl:

I like riding EE multiple times. When I went with my brother and sister, I used my sister's FP to ride twice. I would have rode 3 times, if my brother wasn't brave.

Oh Zebra domes, too bad those can't be mailed.

Mmmmmm, I'll be consuming a few of these in just about 5 weeks!

I can't wait to visit AKL. We have never been there before and I'm looking forward to exploring a bit. We dinner ADR's at Boma....I can't wait just hoping my 2 little picky eaters will like it! And I really can't wait to try a Zebra dome....you make every picture look so yummy!

Ahhh...AKL, zebra domes, and giraffes, oh my! :cloud9: There is just something about AKL that takes me away to this far off land. I love it!

I love the "I love/mickey head NY" stuff! So so cute!!!

Me too! :thumbsup2

Memom, it has been a very long, stressful and wild afternoon here in NC. We have had many tornadoes touch down and it is just a mess. One touched down about 3 miles from our house. I am so incredibly thankful to have my home and life in tact right now. So many others around here can't say that. There is widespread damage and several deaths already reported. Please remember the folks around here in your prayers. And I know there are other NC readers on your TR and I am curious to know how they fared through all this. I hope everyone is safe and doing well.

I'm glad you all are OK! We didn't even get much rain here. It was windy though! DS and DH were on a cub scout camping trip near White Lake during the tornado's. They were in the mess hall or somewhere, but they were fine!!! Thankfully they had taken down the tent earlier that day!!! Needless to say they came on home. They saw some down power lines and debri on their way home!!! My friends near Smithfield and Raleigh wer fine and didn't have any damage. The ones in Smithfield said it was scary when the tornado's went through though.

Girl I hope you are OK. Our part of the state did just fine. We just got a few strong stoms and the worst of it only last 30 minutes around me.

Glad you didn't have any damage!

An October trip to WDW will be awesome! The weather is great then. ::yes:: I have never been in January, but I would sure like to. Especially after the winter we had this past year. An escape to some sunshine and warmer temperatures would have been wonderful! We're so glad you decided to join us.

We went in Oct. several years ago and the weater was great! We also went this past Jan.(for my b'day!!!) and the weather was nice. It wasn't nearly as cold as it was in Dec. when we were there.

Some things are on the chopping block for us, too. Insurance, for one. They also were playing around pretty heavily with the schedule for next year, but in the end, they came out with a good one. We will still get our fall break and our spring break after all. I was worried. Teachers really do need breaks from kids. Not to be ugly by any means, but we all know that kids can wear down even nerves of steel sometimes. Getting a break from that gives us a chance to refresh and do a better job with them and for them.

Teacher's do need breaks to recharge!!!

In my school, I doubt I'm ever going to have one of those peaceful years. Our families have some issues and struggles, and the kids bring that with them in a big way. I'm used to it, though, and I use it is a mission on my part to touch lives in a positive way. I probably wouldn't be half as enlightened to the world around me if I had been teaching in a more privileged area. We do realize that going to school and dealing with all of these problems is the worst part of our day, yet for some of the kids, it is the best part of theirs. They have competent, caring adults supervising them. They have two balanced meals. They are in a safe place hearing good language. When they leave at 3:15, that changes almost instantly for some of them. I feel very blessed that God gave me the opportunity to raise my kids in a safe, loving home.

Sorry your students are challenging! But I'm sure you do make a difference in there life!

I love AK shopping, too. There are things there that you can't find in other Disney shops.

:thumbsup2

I am glad you could give some insight on the cruising. You would certainly want to get the most out of it, as much money as you spend. ::yes:: We don't want our kind Canadian friend to waste her hard-earned money.

When we went on our first Disney in 2006, we went the end of Feb/ 1st March and the weather was warm, but it was too cold to swim at CC. After that DH said that if we were going to go on another cruise, "He wanted to go in the summer, so it would be warm enough to swim!!!

Thank you! Me too! It was very scary. We loaded the bathtub with pillows and just prayed our way through. I actually thought of you b/c I hate bad weather just as much as you do. I am watching the radar constantly whenever we have even the mention of the "t" word, even if it's the middle of the night. It was so bad here yesterday though that our primary news station actually went off the air during live coverage to seek shelter. They were showing live footage from their tower cam outside the studio when a tornado formed over downtown Raleigh and headed directly for the tower. It was huge! When the station blacked out, I realized that it was going to be bad. I am so, so, so thankful that we didn't have any damage and none of my family was hurt. I love spring, but I dread this part of it every year!

I was watching cable 14 news and watching the radar! Later I heard about the station going black!!! SCARY!!! I'm glad you didn't have any damage!!!

As usual, I'm behind, but wanted to comment on the weather stuff!
Memom, I know how you feel about canceling trips. We were going to go for Spring Break this year, but I canceled.....mainly cause the guys wanted to take a break from Disney!!!!!:scared1::scared1: and also because I'm taking classes and didn't need to miss them so close to the end of the semester!!! (Ds's break was last week!!! It's always the week before Easter) We are going on a cruise and Universal in Aug. (I'm trying to add in a few days at Disney too!!!) and I'm planning on being at the NYE Dismeet!!!

All caught up! Looks like you guys had a great Easter!

I love the pictures from AKL. I adore that gift shop, and I wish I could have spent more time walking around AKL when we went to Boma for dinner once. I have zero sense of direction so I was genuinely nervous of getting lost. It's sometimes hard for me to find our room at Pop if we don't stay preferred.

Christine and I have our DIS meet on Saturday before her Red Sox game so I'm hoping we'll both have pictures to share. I'll hopefully remember to take a couple on my iPhone and send them to Facebook. Charles decided to come, too! I'm really looking forward to Saturday :goodvibes

I am so trying to decide which room in my house will have the AKL touch. :lmao:

Have to say it ---mmmmmm Zebra domes

It's a pretty cool place, isn't it? :)

Thanks MeMom! I needed that post. I have been in a real funk lately with planning and getting things together for this summer's trip. So much has been going on here and now Tom is down in his back. It is worse than it has ever been and I am so worried he will need surgery again.

Your post just lifted my spirits. AKL is just amazing. I am really looking forward to staying here. I will definitely send you pictures along the way until you arrive in Disney. When do you arrive? We check out of AKL on June 30th. Will you be there before then? Maybe we could have our dismeet here if so.

We should arrive at Pop by an early lunchtime on July 2nd.

I hope back surgery won't be necessary, but if he needs to do that to get all fixed up and to feel better, then I hope that can be done quickly and that he'll heal quickly.

Glad you enjoyed the AKL pictures. I am so glad we had the chance to stay there, and I love going back to visit.

I haven't been to AKL in a long time! Not for the last 3 trips or so. I need to go back there! It looks like that was a lovely afternoon! :) I love 'mingos too!

I try to visit AKL, Wilderness Lodge, and Polynesian on every trip. If I get to others, that's great, but those are the ones I feel compelled to visit.

Zebra Domes can't be kept in a hot car while one goes shopping in Downtown Disney, either. It means certain death for the domes. I know this to be a fact. :rolleyes1

My stomach was churning after one ride on Expedition Everest. I wouldn't dare try twice in a row!

Mmmmmm, I'll be consuming a few of these in just about 5 weeks!

That's a nice thought. I think it's about ten for us. :)

The kids will like seeing the animals. Boma does have some kid food, but they have a lot of unique stuff, too. Be sure to get some of the roast. It is so good. The dessert area has loads of choices!

I hope all of our DIS friends made it through this night's storms, as well. I am listening to rolling thunder right now.

If I were to go on a cruise, I would want to go at a time when I could really enjoy it all, especially Castaway Cay.

We have changed our October room from the first week to the 15th - 19th, during my fall break. Right now, Jill says she doesn't think she will be able to go, but the plan is for Brooklynn and I to go and do a short MeMom and Me trip. This is something I really want to do with her, but money will be the deciding factor, because we have the Christmas to NY trip coming shortly after that.

Be brave and do that AKL roaming next time. All you have to do is go out the back door right down there beside Boma.

I'm hoping you have a great day for a DIS meet. :)

uncw89: Glad to hear you made it through the storms ok. It was scary for sure and I hope it is done and over with for this year!

Memom: Does it make me weird that I like those beaded flamingos? I still don't like the yard ornament ones, but those beaded ones are pretty cute! I'm a total sucker for a flamingo anyway. Flamingos and palm trees... two of my favorite tropical things!

I hate to hear that Jill can't go on your trip. I know she hates that, but a Memom and me trip will be fun too. Looks like we will miss each other by just a few days. :sad2:

Oh Zebra Domes....how I love thee!!! :) I might drive over to AKL in July just to get those!!! :)

Drove to work in a tornado this morning! Was halfway to school before I got the message that we were delayed. Went ahead and came on in. Girls are watching a Disney movie in the hallway adjacent to my office. We are supposed to get horrible tornado weather this afternoon so I am anticipating an early dismissal.

Be safe! I have no idea what is going on this year! We haven't had a spring like this in a long time. I, for one, would love for the bad weather to go back into hibernation!

Saying some stay safe prayers for you and your family. We're supposed to get tornadoes south, north, east, and west of us, but not where we are! Although, we are supposed to get sever t-storms.

Jill I will be praying that you all will be safe today. Memom, I may be able to meet you in Oct. If I can find someone to split a room with then I will be going to WDW in Oct.

Oh goodness:scared1: We don't have such great weather happening here today but not so bad...I'll be praying for sunny skies for you!

Everyone take care out there:hug:

Praying for safety!! Stay safe and if you get dismissed early be careful on the drive home!!!

What a great AKL update! I just love that resort! You are right BOMA smells amazing! You can just smell it as you walk through the doors!! And Zebra domes oh how I loved them!! I finally had my first taste in January and they were AMAZING!!! SO GOOD!!!

Mmmmm the smell of the Jambo lobby, sounds of the music and drums and then a nice stop downstairs for some zebra domes! Sounds perfect! :thumbsup2 I had a candle once (from Bath and Body Works) that smelled very similar to the lobby....I think it was called fireside and was not available this past winter season :sad2:
I have those two AKL prints. They make me smile every time I walk by them :goodvibes
