I'm sure you're right. I've heard of people banging out the entire park in one day, no waits. I could work to my advantage. Hmmmmm. Okay, maybe just one day, but I'd really rather prefer sun.

Good luck Scotlass. When my day came, they still didn't have the online dining reservation system up. I think that's causing a lot of people to miss out on their ADRs.

It was fun, we were at the park , and everyone seems to rush off, we took in everything, then went to the hotel. had to spend an extra two days because of flights being postponed etc. so got to see the parks the day after.

About hurricanes, I would actually like to be at Disney World during a hurricane, as long as its not Cat 4 or 5. And if the kids weren't with me. I think DH and I would have a great time.

DH and I have actually talked about going down to the coast to watch a storm come in (taking the kids to his parents). Of course, there couldn't be evacuations going on cause they'd never let us down there. But a tropical storm coming ashore would be awesome to see. I love storms, we haven't even had a nice rain shower in awhile.

Morning all. Another glorious day in NJ! (Okay, stop laughing now -- I know NJ and glorious aren't usually synonymous).

Kerrie, I think I'd love to ride out a storm if there was some guarantee it wouldn't kill me. I'm really hoping for quiet, calm flying days because none of us really like to fly. We're big fraidy cats. Last trip we had one day where I really questioned whether being out was a good idea. Here are a few pics:

Can I tell you how scared we were?! The only thing running through my mind was: if I found out my DH had taken my DD out in weather like this, just to go to a dinner reservation, I think I'd kill him! I was really scared with all the lightening and thunder. It probably wasn't my brightest moment as a parent.

A few trips back there was a huge snowstorm on the East Coast that shut down the airports for two days so we were stuck in Orlando. For the first day, we just extended our stay and Disney was very accomodating. However, for the second day, we had already checked out of our hotel (at 4:30 a.m.) to get to the airport, only to find out our flight had been cancelled again. We just stayed in the hotel at the airport and wandered around the terminal that afternoon. I would have much rather have been at Disney, but we didn't have a laptop and couldn't get through on the phone lines, so we checked out.

We had some lovely storms the last time we were in Disney, too. There was a tornado warning. I'm not sure of its exact location, but it was pretty close. People were using their phones to keep up with everything, Disney never said a word. I wonder what their plans are for a tornado... In any case, we were up in the astro orbitor watching a crazy lightening show. I remember thinking that it wasn't a good idea to be up there with that much lightening in the area. It started to pour when we got off Buzz Lightyear. People were crowded under every bit of covering there was. I was holding Bonnie (12 mos at the time) and I got separated from the rest of our group. I got close to the strollers, but couldn't make it all the way to them. A lovely CM got people out of my way so I get to them with the baby. I was actually the first one to make it to the strollers. Joe got there next with Harlie (then 3). And a little bit later came the in-laws with my other 2 kids. We waited probably an hour for the weather to settle down to just rain. Then there was a lovely storm between my SIL and me. Security actually asked me if I needed any help. I can't believe they're going with us again. Oh, well, I'm sure it will be better this time.

Is Harlie one of your daughter's names? I love that name for a girl (but it's a good name for a boy too, if that's your son).

As for your return trip, that sounds like it might be quite a show. Any chance you'll be selling tickets to that particular event, 'cause I'd love to see it. It's nice to know not everything is rainbows and pixie dust. I thought it was just my family.

We got stuck at WDW 2 years ago due to flights being cancelled for weather. Unfortunately it was MLK weekend and we had to pay $650 per night per room for the only rooms available at WDW which were BC Club Level (GF Club Level was also available but since we had been staying BC Villas through DVC, we chose to stay in that area). 2 rooms x 2 nights = $2600 extra spent. We had AP's so no big deal for park entrance but oh my, those crowds.

I love being there when it storms. I lived in Mississippi for 10 years so it doesn't scare me (but I also lived in the midwest for 7 years and never got over the tornado fear).

All this talk of Disney is making me want to go. I think maybe I'll see if my husband wants to go to Disneyland. (after the temperature drops below 100 though).

Pakey, you're a better person than I am. $2600?! I would have been sleeping in the airport. And to think I was griping about the $250 it cost us for the hotel in the airport?!

Pakey, I grew up in North Texas and the tornado sirens were just down the street from us. I have a respect for tornados, but don't live in fear of them. I was raised from a young age to know what to do, we would hear the sirens, and my sister and I would go get in the bathtub with the dog until it passed. I remember finding it strange when I moved to central Texas that they don't have tornado sirens here. But, they aren't as likely here as north Texas. They still happen, but I guess it isn't the same risk.

I don't worry about hurricanes because you are given lots of notice. But, I do fear earthquakes. We want to take the kids to California sometime and I'm terrified there could be an earthquake when we go. I know, irrational fear, but you don't have any notice, and I wasn't raised learning about them. So, I'm scared of them. I lived in Cali for a couple years, but I was 3 and 4, so I didn't know anything.

Hey...

Never had Hurricane worries in Orlando but DH nearly had a nervous breakdown the first time he had to drive in a Florida down pour !!

My friend was in Mexico when it was flattened by a hurricane a few years ago.

They got given water and food and were boarded into their room for 2 days.

When it passed and they were up to there thighs in water in the room.

I have never been so worried about some one....her 2 wee boys aged 8 and 6 thought it was the best vacation ever !!

That's too funny Kerrie because I have no fear of earthquakes at all. They are so rare and 99% of them only do structural damage but nobody gets hurt.

I used to hate those tornado sirens when I lived in Missouri. I remember once my exhusband and I were having a dinner party and right in the middle of dinner, there goes the siren. Trust me, I did not like our guests enough to spend that time together in a small storm cellar.

Kerrie, I have to tell you this. My mom has/had 6 sisters. They are/were all very close. But the pot stirrer of the group was Bonnie.

PKsMom, I was so grateful that they found us any room at all being that it was a holiday weekend, that I didn't think about the cost at the time. It took quite awhile for them to even scrounge up those 2 rooms for us (or was it just a ploy to frighten me enough that I'd willingly take those $650 rooms).

Hello all! I've been out enjoying the first sun of the summer.

OK, I have a "gays days" story. Let me start by saying I had the brilliant idea that we should all wear the same color shirts everyday so we'd be easy to spot if separated. And, we had no idea about gay days (I'm sure you see where this is going). We arrive in Orlando about midnight and are staying offsite until the next day. We wake up Sat, put on our red shirts, and go have breakfast before heading to Disney World. There were 12 of us, so we couldn't all sit at one table. I sat with the then baby, Bonnie, Sil, and Fil. Mil sat with my other two girls and neice. DH, DS, Bil and nephew all sat together, in their red shirts. People kept looking at them and we couldn't figure out why. Finished breakfast, headed to POP. After checking in we were in the lobby a little while, and one of the CM's at the desk called me over. She was cracking up because it was gay days, they were all in red and so were we. We're assuming everyone at the restaurant thought my DH, BIL, and their little boys (both boys look just like their respective daddys) made a lovely little family. The boys wanted to change, but nope, we were staying the way we were. We ended up at DHS, so I'm sure that was better than if we had gone to MK. My Mil, Sil, and I kept walking together to keep the boys together. We found it pretty funny. BIL, I think, found it funny, too, by the way he ate a hot dog later in the day. A woman at another table couldn't stop staring at him. DH said no red shirts on our next trip.

Good morning everyone!

All this talk of Disney has be chomping at the bit. We do have a bounceback for late September, and just yesterday were looking at the airfares. I think a trip is in my future. We once had to leave a day early because a big hurricane was coming and we would have been stuck in Orlando for days - DH had to get back to work. It was so scary, we were on the last flight out of Orlando, the trees were starting to bend, etc.

Hope all is well with everyone - I haven't been on here much lately. The weather has finally improved and we even went to the beach last weekend.

I was getting the Disney bug from all of ya'lls talk too so I went and priced out a few nights at the Grand Californian at Disneyland. After all, it is only 3 hours from home. Yikes, I think I'll just go to Las Vegas instead. They certainly aren't giving those Grand Californian rooms away.
