Hello

We are traveling to Disneyland in December of 2010. We will have our two children ages 20 months and 3.5 year old with us. We are thinking that we will stay at the Grand Cali given its proximity to the parks. My understanding is that depending on your room location you could be in for a long walk. Does anyone have a map of the room locations or could you offer some advice in terms of requesting a certain room location. We are also trying to decide on view as we will share a room with the kids and might need to spend some time on the balcony.

Which also brings up another question. Do all rooms have balconies?

Thanks

Hi Willow25!

I also had questions about the rooms and views at the Grand Californian. Check out this thread which has a map of the hotel and some discussion about which rooms are closest.

We just got back from staying at 4252, which had a fantastic view of Paradise Pier and was about a 3 minute walk from the lobby. Room 4252 had a balcony and I believe all the rooms have a balcony. Hopefully, someone else can confirm this.

Hawley, Thank you so much for the link to that thread it is very informative. Glad you got a great room.

Does anyone know how much longer the walk is from the downtown disney view rooms? Also do you get a very good view of the fireworks from these rooms?

Thank you all so much

Most rooms at the GCH have balconies. Here's a good thread with more info: Balcony at GCH

I can't give you an exact time - it depends whether you are at the end of a hallway, or closer to the elevators. Check the room numbers on the map from Hawleys's post - this should give you some idea of which rooms are closer to the lobby/Grand Hall.

The odd-numbered rooms at the top of the map are the ones directly facing Downtown Disney and Disneyland. These rooms are the ones with fireworks views.

My experience is the the rooms near the lobby/Great Hall can be greatly noisy -- especially when you are trying to get a little one to rest! :goodvibes A little more walking might be a good tradeoff . . . ;)

Forgot to mention earlier, but was reminded of this by lisah0711's comments:

The rooms that face Downtown Disney can be a problem if you have any light sleepers in your group. Music is broadcast/played in DTD throughout the day and late into the evening. Although the sound is muffled when the balcony door is closed, you can still hear it in the room.
