GCH / Hopper Pass Question

I will maybe spend the first 2 nights @ GCH. I arrive Wed night and want to go through the hotel entrance into California Adventure to get my fastpass for WOC. How does this work. Do I have to get my Hopper Pass verified somewhere first or can I get it done at the Hotel/Park entrance?

There is an entry gate at the GCH entrance to DCA, so they will scan your ticket there. Make sure you also have your hotel room key, since they will also check that when you go in. They will open the gate 1 hour before the park opens, so you can go in before non-hotel guests and get your pass.

Also, if you have been to Disneyland already that day, make sure to get your hand stamped if you don't have an AP. Then it's just a hop, skip, and a jump to the fastpass station and you will have your WoC FP (blue, first showing).

Ok, Just to clarify...

I read in another thread that a hopper pass has to be activated at the main turnstiles before it can be used to go through GCH. I guess thats the real question. I arrive Wed eve so won't be making my 1st trip in until Thursday.

It can be activated at the GCH/DCA entrance. They will scan it everytime you go thru, make sure you have your key.

Not in my experience. We were able to use our hoppers (or AP's) to get thru the GCH entrance at any time.

Is there a line? Oh my, yes. We were there two days ago (Thursday), which is off season. The lines starts getting long about 30+ minutes before they open. By the time they opened it (which was nearly 20 minutes late for some unexplained reason, the line went all the way down to WhiteWater Snacks, then wrapped back around all the way to Storytellers!

Just to be sure you there is no confusion, you will not be able to get WOC FPs at night when you arrive. They will all be gone. You need to get them in the morning. Check my signature line for the WOC Superthread.

sorry to ask on your thread, but can DLH and PPH guests use that entrance? And, is the GCH entrance opened up every day 1 hour early for hotel guests? Thanks!

The entrance is open 1 hour early for guests at any of the DLR hotels, so yes, PPH and DLH guests can use it. As far as I know it's everyday, but it's subject to the whims of the Disney gods, local management, and which cast members are on duty. Also, the main gate is opened 30 minutes or so before the park for normal guests, so get there in the first half of the hour.

Also note, the park itself is not open, only the FP for WoC. You are not even allowed to go to certain areas, like Paradise Pier. When we were there last month the only people allowed into that area were dining at one of the restaurants (Ariel's Grotto I think).
