Is there a microwave in the concierge lounge? I've read no micros in the rooms (bummer) but wondered if there was one available to maybe heat up some things. Any idea?

Yes, there is. I believe there is also a toaster. They have oatmeal for one of the cereals, so I am positive there is a microwave.

There is, but it isn't available to non-concierge guests. I'm just guessing from your post that you aren't staying concierge, but if you are, then yes, you'll have access to a m/w. You'll also have tons of food all day and probably won't need to reheat anything! I can see if you had some awesome leftovers, though, that you might do that.

We are staying concierge (for the very first time!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:) but are doing so on a budget elsewhere, lol. For those meals we do eat out, I tend to always have left overs so thinking of heating up for later. Also, we are going to hit target or the like for some 'regular snack/drink items' to have in our room (thinking micro popcorn, thus the need for the microwave).

TEN DAYS and we'll be there (our very first DL trip) :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes Just a little excited.

Eek.. i'm so thrilled.. one of my closest friends and i will be staying at the Grand Californian Concierge in september. I wonder what it will be like..does anyone have photos? We are going to relax..enjoy the wine and snacks and not be rushing around the park this trip. It's going to be a special treat.

Would have loved to do concierge on the up coming trip, but the $400/night did not meet the budget expectations.

We've never have done it, but had developer points from buying into DVC that we had to use!!! Will probably be the only time we do this.

Oh!!! Sorry to assume you weren't staying concierge!!

You will have a GREAT time!!!! We got to stay there in Feb. and my girls were absolutely in heaven....they just couldn't get enough of the cookies and chocolate covered strawberries! I have to tell you, though, that you really might not get around to any other snacks. The lounge is open all day and they have so much stuff that we didn't need/want anything else. They also let you take as much with you as you want, so you can stock up on drinks and snacks for the parks, for instance. They don't have popcorn, though! They DO have an afternoon tea that includes amazing little sandwiches as well as scones, cookies, fruit, and things like that. The breakfast has a good selection and there is an evening appetizer thing that includes hot hors d'oeuvres and such (plus beer and wine). Then there's a dessert buffet later in the evening. In between those things, there are always cookies, sodas, water, milk, juice, Uncrustables or whatever they're called, and I can't remember what else. Oh, I think they always have bananas, apples and oranges.

I was hooked on the scones with clotted cream (though I think it sounds gross) and raspberry jam, and the chocolate covered macaroons.

We got totally spoiled and though I doubt we'll ever be able to do it again, it sure was great!

You'll love it, fairykin! Somewhere there is a thread that has photos from the 3 different concierge lounges at DLR.

We had booked DLH concierge in Feb. at an AP rate of $189, but they called to tell us they had to do some work on the lounge and so they moved us to GCH concierge instead. Woohoo!!!! The night before we were supposed to leave, I even managed to talk them into an extra night at the $189 rate. I wish I could always stay at GCH with concierge for that rate :thumbsup2

I will be there next month on the concierge level for the second time. You may want to go into the lounge before you buy items at Target. What the website and even CM's don't tell you, until your stay is that there is food from 6am until around 10 pm non stop. In the morning they have pastries, fruit, cereals, bagels, oatmeal and juices, hot chocolate, coffee, teas etc. available. From about 10 am-11:30am they have crackers and fruit (various other snack type foods available, can't think of specific one's right now). At lunch they have uncrustables, mini sandwiches, fresh fruit and veggies, chips. In between lunch and dinner they have the same snack type foods as earlier. Then around dinner time they have 1 or 2 choices of hot appetizers (I think we had ravioli's a couple nights and stuffed dumplings another night), they also offer adults beer and wine. After dinner they have dessert type pastries, chocolate covered strawberries, mickey rice crispy treats.

They always have cold beverages available (bottled soda, juices, and water) in the fridge (you just help yourself). I believe each "meal time" lasts for about 2- 2 1/2 hours. So about every 2 hours different types of food are put out. They also had story time with cookies and milk for the kids (sometime after dinner). You can also watch the fireworks from the concierge balcony including the soundtrack.

Personally, we eat the majority of our breakfasts there. I had some leftover ziploc bags that I filled with goldfish crackers. We also got bottled drinks almost everytime we were there. If it was my Uncle's choice we would have eaten every meal there ;)

Enjoy your trip!

Actually, there is no microwave in the concierge lounge there. Just recently we stayed there and my daughter doesn't eat peanut butter or the little finger sandwiches, so we brought the microwave mac'n'cheese, but were unable to do it in a mirowave. They brought us very hot water, but it just didn't work. The cm in the lounge suggested that we use the microwave in the White Water Snacks restaurant by the pool. We have stayed in the Grand Concierge at least 20 times, and there has never been a microwave for use (as a matter of fact, none of the onsite hotels have microwaves in their concierge lounges, as we have stayed at all of them lots of times).

I hear you..the only way we are doing it is using the Developer Points from our VGC purchase. This is a first and last for us for Concierge so I plan on really taking advantage of it!..I wonder if the grandkids really want to go to the parks.....;)

I can confirm that there is no microwave in the GCH lounge...just left with my blueberry bagel/strawberry cream cheese breakfast...I think that is my favorite vacation breakfast ever :goodvibes

DizMe... wow! what a great exchange they did for your family. Super rate and the extra night stay was really nice of them.

Thanks everyone for sharing the information. It's threads like this that make the planning stages of the trip so much fun.

Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

bummer, oh, well, we will survive with no microwave. Thanks for the update!

oops...my bad, the one time I think I have some info for someone and I'm wrong!! I could have swore there was one in there...there is a toaster though...right?? Or am I really losin' it? :confused3

I've noticed that a few people just go out and buy a "cheapy" micro to take and either leave it for the next visitor or donate it. I just saw one for $30 at bestbuy, but since we're flying I don't think we'll do it. I figure there is enough choices at the lounge. We've always been very satisfied with the offerings there. And, yes, our young ones love the story time with milk and cookies while we adults loooooove the nightly treats and the show on the balcony. I don't see folks mentioning the cordials being offered at night. Have they stopped this? We really enjoyed the b&b or grand manier with dessert the last couple of times so hope they still offer the good stuff! :rolleyes1
